I just don't understand the wide coverage of an anticipated release of a wireless charger. There are several Qi wireless chargers out there that are gonna be most likely cheaper than the AirPower, yet every article on here is about the excitement and anticipation, the accurate or inaccurate reporting of when and how it's gonna look like, and of finally releasing a wireless charger just because Apple's name is behind it?

I'm probably on the minority on this one but what is really the big deal (real curiosity)?

every time this thing gets mentioned, the marketing blunder over a year ago grows bigger and bigger

I agree with you but I think the interest isn’t so much the AirPower itself. It’s the fact that Apple announced a product, missed the release time. The fact that it seems Apple has struggled with this product makes it more interesting than the actual product.

I think AirPower is coming too. But what is the significance of removing the picture? I missed your point.

A different MR post tried to indicate that since they removed the picture from the AirPods that it could mean AirPower isn’t being released. I think that’s what they were referring to.

Well, yeah - an Apple made Chi (Qi) charging mat will be the best one to get I'd say. Apple makes good stuff right?

They sure have had a lot of delays on this one. Probably they were getting RF interference and who knows what else kinds of complications with multiple magnetic induction going on. I have a few charging pads and they are a bit finicky for my wife to use.

I'd much rather just buy a few Apple Branded charging pads and not worry about it anymore. I don't care about the price, I want the real convenience, and not have to worry if I put my watch or phone on this thing perfectly to optimize the charge rate.

Of course we are all Apple fans here, so it was very annoying to have Apple announce this stuff so long ago and they have been saying nothing much about it. Clearly they must have had some challenges, and I do hope they figured out how to make it work nicely.

I wish they still cared, that would be a kick ass little device if they actually tried ― and yeah kids just get their mum's/father's old iPhone

I mean I'm sure it did seem that way back then, there's a new device that costs a hell of a lot as was really unproven, I imagine you looked like a big fool lol
Overall there were only a few people saying that, and I think it was because they were mostly jealous. The vast majority of people would see it and come up to me to talk about it. I've never experienced anything like it before and haven't really since, aside from a little bit with the original iPad since I was using it to take notes in college, and a little with the Apple Watch when it first launched, but it's more inconspicuous. But people wanted to see that iPhone BAD and would sometimes even ask to hold it. Complete strangers, mind you. NOPE, lol. It was very weird because I usually don't like attracting attention because I'm fairly introverted. I was using it in a normal way, but likely using it a lot the first few weeks. It felt like magic.

You raise a point that I have been thinking about all day. "an Apple made Chi (Qi) charging mat". Is this what Airpower will be? If so what about the Apple watch. Notice the removed picture from the Airpods page today. No watch. It does not make any sense to make the design of this product much more complicated (there have posts about how complex the product is, was the reason for the delay) by including the watch and it's non standard charging requirements.

How about this. We see the Airpower -just as pictured in today's removed photo. A charger for iPhone's and gen 2 airpod charging cases. NO WATCH. Then in September the Series 5 watch changes the charging standard to Qi. Then it all works as was envisioned.

Anyone else going to hold off on getting this first-gen product? I know I will; specifically because of Apple's hesitation and concerns surrounding the product and the nature(charger) of the product itself. IMHO

No point in getting excited, anxious or angry over the unknown release date. There is still 2 days left and maybe next week or maybe not.

So I ordered new AirPods with and without charging case. AirPower will let the best man win, so one will get returned.

I think they might have cracked it!
They will just price the thing so crazy expensive so that noone will actually buy it. That way, they can finally launch it, but since noone in their right mind will buy it, noone will ever know it's vaporware!

So, looking forward to the launch of the 1099:- AirPower!

Apple will announce AirPower's immediate availability at the March 25 Services Event. It will be the only hardware product mentioned, for a quick laugh from the stage and a brief explanation of the delay meaning Apple waits to get things right.

Totally unknown and unregistered guy on the internet says Apple approved the production of Airpower sometime before like, right now.

I’m just as accurate as WSJ!
