I agree this is the most serious drawback of the game. The first day or two is just random guessing for lynching. When this is played in an in-person format, you can use body language to get some hints, but in an online format those clues are absent.

I don't think it needs to be solved. It's a consequence of what makes the games fun - you can crunch numbers all you want, but the core game mechanic is still subterfuge and reading between the lines. That means a lot of arbitrary decisions come out as they are based on guesses and emotions.
If you introduce a mechanic to make the first lynchings more predictable, you're likely going to neuter the mystery component that makes the game compelling. My $0.02.
