Do you think the iPhone prices will be substantially decrease (such as $300AUD) for the 3G, do to multiple carries (well, in Australia anyway).

It doesn't appear likely that the new phone would launch today. Given all the retail preparation last year (store closings, shipments to the stores etc..) and the likely increase in the demand for this gen. 2 device, Apple would logically provide more public awareness and specifics about when it will be available. If there will be lines again and or any retail related confusion or chaos, Apple has some responsibility to provide notice and support to the retail communities they operate in. There doesn't appear to be much evidence of this for today. JMO. That being said, I hope it launches today. I lost my iphone at Heathrow a month ago and someone now has a nice phone.

I'm sure it's been jailbroken. I suspended my ATT account immediately and now await the new one. I'm up for some chaos today, but I'm afraid it's not likely.

Can you imaging how many "lost phones" there would be right now.
I'm just screwed. I get to buy a new one. I'm an existing customer, so I probably won't be entitled to the subsidized pricing. If they do have an upgrade path for existing users, I'm sure I'll be re-upping for a another 2 years. We'll see soon.

Today's my last full day of school, so I brought my iBook and will be blogging the events of WWDC as they happen. I can't wait for the new iPhone, I may even get one at some point once they're available refurbished!

Didn't Zibri note, that the "expiry date" of that '2.0 firmware is round about yesterday? Which kind of points to there being a new version that has a "best before" date beyond June 9th?
Zibri seems to think it'll just be a simple case to modify what he already has and knows to hack the upcoming OS update from Apple.

Touche´ however you spell it. But even then zibri could release it in a day or so, depends if he feels like no-lifing for a few hours after waiting in line for the 3g.
There is no doubt in my mind that we won't have the new firmware hacked by the end of the week.
and to adam, yes i am from australia and currently waiting for it to come out, i've been told it's coming out 19th of the month, or 16th i forget, but it's coming with the grand opening of the apple store.

Not quite getting what you mean here Tom, but to put it in plain English do people think it will be unlocked 2 weeks latest after release? Really need the Phone for late June, but wondering if it'll be possible now
And i can't afford the iPhone contract fees unless it's seriously decreased!

hmm, well i'm in sydney.
and so far theres only the sydney apple store. so when it's actually formally released, then it will ofcourse be released on the online store, unless you wish to order one from the us over their store, we'll find out more tomorrow ay
