My baseless speculation:

I think that something big is going to happen. It must be earlier for a reason.

I think it's going to be a G5 Powerbook and a G5 Powermac update and the new XServe.

Tiger looks like it will be out by April.

G5 Mac Minis!!!
lol

I'd like them to focus on a REAL machine.

Like the Powerbook G5. I'm buying it the day it comes out.

It should be ready, since there was a blip of IBM readying a low powered G5 around late 2004 and shipping/testing in early 2005. Plus the way TS insider has made it sound is that this will be the last rev PBG4 until the release of a PBG5. :)

Expect the Mac mini to go G5 once the iBook and eMac get the processor, its going to be a little bit longer. :)

They better just come out with a 3ghz+ PowerMac G5 already, the G5 PowerBook is a while away...stop killing yourselves over it  :D

!!!!!??????!!!!!

Lost for words!

( no demo would be a dead cert, since 10.4 or whatever won't be around for 2 years or so!).

BLAH, that means Tiger (10.4) will be out only for a short while. Thus, no demo of the next Mac OS X revision at this year's WWDC.

And you'll receive it 6-8 weeks later, at best.

WWDC

Steve will demo Tiger, and will focus on some element that hasen't received huge attention yet - like enhanced 64 bit structure or something. He'll announce that Tiger is behind schedule and is targeting a late August introduction ("we want to get it right.") There will be a big count-down clock on the Apple home page that will read "Whenever".
Steve will ask everyone to reach under their seat where they will find an Apple 3-button mouse that's also an iPod.
He will then will demo a black turtle-neck sweater with built-in iPod controls. Everyone will be shocked that he will have been wearing one of these at the past three keynotes and now Apple is offering them to the public at only $499 available next month only from the Apple Store.
Then Michael Dell will join STeve on stage and they will announce that Dell is licensing OS X for Dell hand-helds and will be rolling out the new products for Christmas 2006. Steve Balmer will then join them and tell everybody how much he loves OS X.
Finally, Steve will announce an iPod version of GarageBand where that little triangle stays red all the time, even when it's just the grand piano running.

Oh and one more thing- the eMac will get speed-bumped and a new color- "yellow snow".

Thoughts:
3 Ghz Powermacs
Powerbook G5
Tiger ships end of the month

Paris: eMac G5/mac mini g5 (????)
ibook g5 . . . eventually

i think nothing is gonna happen at wwdc.. like nothing.. steve just comes out and says "u know WAT, we got nothing" :(

tiger intro

Earlier than it has been the last two years. I wonder if this signifies something or nothing at all?

its early so they can intro tiger because they were on schedule to ship it first half of 2k5 and june is first half. ill bet we see pb g5 as well, cuz developers are gonna want a portable 64 bit system to work with tiger on.

What I'd love to see at WWDC 2005

* Updated PowerMacs, with the high-end being a dual 3.0 GHz PowerMac G5 with PCI Express. Prices should be lower than current PowerMacs, but more power/memory/storage than current models.

* Updated Xserves a la PowerMacs.

* PowerBook G5 (even if it runs at 1.4 or 1.6 GHz). Just give us something that won't melt or burn up, that has a modern subsystem, and the fastest mobile video out there, again at prices that undercut current PowerBook models by $100-$200. Screen resolutions should also be a bit higher (but not too high - we don't want to follow Dell's "let's make the pixels so tiny that 12 point text looks like a gnat" strategy)

* Release-ready Tiger, with some cool new features that have been kept under wraps for the unveiling!

* Updated Mac Minis with 512 MB standard, Tiger on board, and 64 MB of video RAM.

I don't think this is too unreasonable. Will it happen? Who knows? :p

lol....

I believe that Tiger will be out before WWDC....Jobs has already debuted (a rough version) it at MWSF....as far as the media/public is concerned, they don't need a big production for it, just release it already (when it's done of course)...

I think the PBG5 is not likely either...i know that there are some rumors that it will ship in Q2, but i'm not a believer (mostly because i'm forced to get a G4 in april).....

i'm thinking ipod stuff (new mini, maybe color ipod, etc)...

Apple hasn't exactly been shy about announcing things that are a ways off.

Maybe I'm just bitter about receiving my Dual 2.5 G5 four months after I ordered it...

Like that was Apple's fault! Apple doesn't make the damn processors!

It's that time of year

I think theres a very strong possibility that Dual Core Dual 3ghz G5 will be unveiled, a 40 inch LCD Display and the 20 inch upgraded to run at 1980x1200 and 5th gen ipods that come in multiple colours with an upgraded ipod mini, asteroid to accompany airport express with an added video input/output. Thats about it for hardware.

Software well get a Quick Tiger demo with release date, maybe Motion 2.0, Pro Band and iTunes 5.0.

Not surprising, as major OS releases are going to be 18 months to 2 years apart now. So we'll get a new OS DEMO next year with maybe 6 months to year before that is released.

OS X is mature enough that it can now stand to go longer between major releases. It also means a better tested/more stable OS when it's released.

iTunes 5.0 may just be a random announcement (with press show possibly)or it will happen at a consumer show.

Motion 2.0 will probably happen at a trade show related to the movie/video industry.

And as for ProBand, I think that is called Logic Pro and Logic Express. Or have you not noticed that things can be moved between GarageBand and Logic?

Whether or not they manufacture the processors, they are responsible for shipping what they announce. While they probably had a certain level of assurance from IBM that the processors would be ready, I'd guess it had more to do with the need to announce SOMETHING worth a darn after making the 3Ghz promise at WWDC 03.

C'mon, don't defend bad behavior.

CROSSIN MY FINGERS

I am hoping for the 3ghz mark. that would be sweet. pbg5? come on guys...Tiger? It better be out before/during wwdc because what the hell is that show for? dev.. and what are they developing for? Tiger... meow. as for ipod stuff, who knows.. free publicity, as if the ipod needs any. everything is pure speculation as of right now.. i need more NEWS!
