Wow, that was lamer than ANY of us could have predicted!

Oh wait, one more thing...

Introducing the new MacRumors - now called iPhoneRumors! Boom!

Thanks for the lunchtime entertainment -- I've never read so many absolutely crazy posts in one place, at one time.

Did people really think he wasn't going to introduce a new iPhone?

Well, I'm neither elated nor disappointed. 3G is nice, but predictable. GPS is the same.

But the lack of more capacity and the fact that there is still no video conferencing means I can wait a while and continue to enjoy my now old-fashioned iPhone until Christmas when Apple will introduce a slightly newer iPhone that doesn't offer much new except capacity, colors, or whatever. But that is the phone I'll buy.

My iPhone was not made out-of-date today. AT&T's 3G network may be larger than in the past, but it still doesn't cover metropolitan areas, let alone the country.

Great Keynote!

Mobile Me, iPhone 2.0 looks better and better, apps look unbelievable especially the games, Snow Leopard will be previewed, and the iPhone has 3G and GP-effing-S.

Another step ahead for Apple.

alrighty, it's been fun but time to get a little more work done.

my thoughts on the new iphone: a nice upgrade... however, it's nothing super impressive. those who have the original iphone will still be good to go for quite a while (myself included). if i'm able to come up with the money to upgrade in the next couple months, cool... if not, not that big of a deal.

the new software though... is gonna rock. and that is good for ANY iphone. :D

Severely disappointed. I think most Mac fans would agree with me on that. I'm all for 3G, but the charge for iPod Touch users (again) and lack of ANY talk related to the Mac line is a little disconcerting. Apple really seems to be neglecting their bread and butter over the past year.

Camera is the same

I really hope that $199 isn't the subsidized price!

Why wouldn't it be? You think there's a 50% drop in manufacturing cost, while adding features, in a year? That's unlikely. I'm sure Apples price is still $400 and ATT is ponying up the extra $200 per contract.

Wow...good thing I sold my 8GB refurb on ebay two weeks ago for $450:) Now I could get myself 2 8gb!

Ok, I hope we have gotten all this iPhone crap out of the way and we can move on to other things now. This is the 3rd keynote where the iPhone has dominated the whole presentation.

Windows Mobile users just dropped their blackberries.

You know, of course, that Blackberries don't run on Windows Mobile?
Just makin' sure!

What the heck! Just the iPhone?!?
What kind of developer's conference is this?

No this is just a keynote. The developer's conference is all sorts of sessions and booths selling stuff and plastic bags full of freebies and paper refuse that could have been delivered on a disk.

And of course, the keynote was all about development... iPhone development. Which is cocoa so it still appleis to regular Mac developers (as well as bringing new developers into the fold)

There's no way the UK version's going for the equivalent of $199. No way. There must be strings attached like you pay $399 and get a $200 refund when it's registered for contract?

Otherwise I'm waiting for confirmation of a working Jailbreak/crack for the 3G and buying one. Simple as.

UK store's still down.

EDIT- UK store's back up and there's no price listed!!! :D Guess Steve forgot to let the UK site staff in on the prices!!!

Does "maximum" $200 imply that carriers will be allowed to subsidise the iPhone as they wish?

I must say, even though my 1st Gen might take a little longer to load websites, I much prefer it's metal back.....

To Summarise:

- Much better battery life
- Slimmer
- Same great hardware, with DS/PSP-level graphics
- aGPS
- Heavily reduced price
- Better worldwide availability
- Same great software - easy to use and great features, and all the new 2.0 features - Now with push-notifications for background apps!
- MobileMe integration for wireless phone-desktop synching

This is the update I was looking for. 1G iPhone, you've been comprehensively trumped.

If anyone is good at Video, and editing, here's an idea...

Have some big, fat nasty guy go into a bathroom, and take a massive *****. You hear him grunting, and making all kinds of noises...he opens the door, and leaves and doesn't flush...

The camera goes in, and peeks in the bowl...a big floating "WWDC 2008" is floating...LOL
