So, I don't know much about delta updates. But from what I gather it means that update file sizes will be less?
Yes, basically just the changes to the files will be saved/loaded (depending if you're saving or loading), and not the whole file over and over again. Should reduce data traffic and storage noticeably.

MacOS Lion only available on MacAppStore.

Wait. So you first have to buy Slow Leopard to get Lion as the AppStore isn't supported on 10.5.x. WTF?

Think of a simple case - a 10 megabyte text file. You add a single line. The actual disk footprint increases by roughly a few bytes.

It never gets smaller, though. You cut out all but a few bytes and save it and it's still at least 10 megabytes.

I now dont have to think about whether to get Lion or not

slow broadband speed means no way will i attempt to download it

Right, but the update would be smaller for the end user.

So those on Leopard are screwed. Nice Apple.

Not really - previous OS updates before Snow Leopard were $129. Now you just have to pay 2 x $29 to get from Leopard to Lion and the Lion update is for all your machines. Any way you look at that, it's good value...

No reboots for the upgrade. What, is Lion not upgrading kernel space at all ? So it's just a user-space process upgrades ?

Seems pretty remarkable. How is that possible?

Did they come up with some new hot-swappable kernel technology?

Doesn't really matter when the price is so low. Get SL now for $30, upgrade in July for another $30.

No reboots? Where are you getting that? My understanding was that "installs in place" meant you don't have to burn the thing. This is how the DP works now.

Not to mention my GF and I don't share iTunes account information, so we both now have to fork over 30$ instead of buying a family 5 pack version for cheaper.

Oh well, not that my GF cares about OS upgrades.

I think you will be able to download the installer from one iTunes account, stick it on a thumb drive, and take it to a computer with a different account.

Perhaps the real meaning is "Lion only available from Apple on Mac App store" but Amazon and others will be permitted to sell boxed versions. But Apple tends to look only ahead, and some users get left in the dust.

Wow real full screen and resize from any edge. I'm glad apple is innovating unfortunately MS had this since forever

But one can assume that SL won't be for sale after Lion is released. So how do you get from Leopard to Lion if you can't buy SL?

10:40 am #1 retailer of music in the world.
10:40 am 15 billion songs sold on the iTunes music store.

We can forget Apple launching a streaming music service like Spotify. They make too much money from the status quo.
