So can we access iCloud right away, or only with iOS 5?

According to the live feed:
11:52 am iTunes in the cloud available today on iOS 4.3

Thank you.

LOL @ Steve saying "deal with it." to ripped music. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard and furthermore suggesting we fork out more money for the same songs we already purchased and even more @ an inferior encoding vs CD quality.

The whole sync concept with the iCloud sounds pretty neat but honestly are people really that lazy they can't sync their devices? Steve acted like it was brain surgery.

Ok, I got a question as I was just going by the macrumors updates. Is the deal with it mean that if I decide to take advantage of the cloud synching that I'll only be able to hear my itunes stuff between devices (it won't erase songs that are already thre that weren't bought by itunes, would it?) or just that I'll have to synch anything I rip myself by the "old fashioned" way?

No Widgets

So, Android-style notifications but still no Widgets. Steve is a very stubborn fellow. It'll probably take him as long as accepting multi-button mouse to get this one. Next WWDC perhaps?

So is this a 3G thing only or is it wi-fi too? I can't see anyone using 3G for this stuff since providers have gone back to the dark ages by charging by the GB.

This is a fine example of why wireless carriers are working backwards from a technology stand point. Its simply ridiculous.

A lot of this was expected and wanted so I'm fairly content. Biggest thing for me was the camera app (shutter button FINALLY, pic from lockscreen, quick loading), iCloud of course (that's all I was paying for MobileMe for anyway) and Notifications (freaking killer). I'm a happy camper.

Well the best things I took from this was the notifications, wireless syncing and delta OTA updates. One of the things I love about Android is the way it handles notifications so I'm glad Apple has adopted this in a way (if they can avoid that lawsuit haha)

iCloud looks interesting and I will give it a go, be rude not to with it being free!

Agreed!

I'm glad they caught up with other platforms, i was hoping for more innovation/genius but i'll take the good ol transplant/transcribe method regardless. Will use the free side of iCloud but i don't see any justification in paying the $25.

I also think this will be the year i skip an iPhone revision...and maybe even an OS X version too.

The sync services sounds like this to me.

You pay 24.99 a year. Your music is scanned and the what you have is now available to you in the cloud. If you want to sync multipal devices to the cloud the music from the cloud is synced to your idevice. It doesn't sound like it is going to replace anything that is in your iTunes library unless you want it to. So if you have a 128kb vbr ripped song that you obtaine, ummm well you know, you now have the opertunity to to upgrade that song to 256.

I didn't hear anything about streaming thou. Has this been confirmed? I was only following one feed this time and no one mentioned this. Instead you will be able to download and sync those songs.

I am hoping you can stream them to your device in 256 range.

So how long until we see Google and HP/Palm filing lawsuits again Apple for iOS 5?

Hopefully never.

All modern smartphone platforms today seem to have borrowed one thing or another from the competition.

And now we know why Samsung asked judge to force Apple to give them iPhone 5 samples. Because they will now have to redesign Android notification system to avoid Apple charges.

Yup. People are wowed by flashy.
Back end stuff is rarely flashy yet is what brings the flash later on.

The ability to write apps for the Mac, iOS, PC - all with seamless cloud storage integration - with just a few API calls. That's amazing. No setting up a bunch of servers on Amazon S3 or Google. I can't wait to dig into this.

No locally saved data in apps to get lost on a backup restore. No making your customers sign up for your apps again and again with multiple passwords.

This is really, really wild, folks. Things are going to change in a big way.

What happens if you pay for the iTunes match, upgrade your songs, download the songs to your device, then stop paying. Do you still get to keep the songs you downloaded?
