And yet, no new iPhone will be present ... I predict a lot of attending hearts will be broken!

If your paying $1600 just to see the new iPhone unveiled you are going for the wrong reason.

The fact that there may not be a new iPhone announcement must mean that their software announcements will be even bigger. Which is good for developers. It is a developer convention after all...

The new iPhone will come eventually. It was nice having it launch in the summer to help boost the summer month slump, as the highest sales are typically in winter then fade out slowly through the year, with bumps happening at new product launches. So moving the iPhone launch to later will make its effect quite different I think.

You forgot:

Apple is only a hype machine

Apple is evil

Apple only cares about money

Apple is money grabbing Steve Jobs ruling with an iron fist

Apple is a moral dictator

Apple should invest in cancer research

Does anybody else see the 9.6 inside the apple?
Sept. 6th?

Whatever it means, it's interesting.

Hmm... Seems a bit odd and squint to me. Looks more like a 9.2

After you point it out, yes, I do, but I can't imagine that Apple would give ANY clues to future release dates/announcements.

They did with the iPad 2.

well if its $129 then people would just pay $99 for the mac developer program and get it $30 cheaper

$79 or less

You don't get final versions of the software they release in the dev program.

The Gold master will not get software updates post release date.

Really? Wow, what's next?

Cupertino:

Apple has announced a reduction in the number of restrooms available in their office buildings. This is seen as a media ploy to drive up demand.

Tin foil hats, necessity or fashion accessory? New at eleven.

But are they ready to make the move to Vegas? Would love to see WWDC move here. :)

I would love to see that but I doubt they will do it due to time lost of Steve's engineers making it to Vegas for a week. Most of Steve's boys talk one or two days and they are back to work. There are other venues larger than Moscone closer than Vegas but not as convenient. I am surprised they haven't split it into a two week event with one week Mac and the other iOS. Offer tickets for one of the weeks and a superpass for both.

There won't be iPhone 5!

It will be the launch of the White iPhone 4 to fall in line with the White iPad 2!

With an A5 chip and called the iPhone 4S! That's it ready for iOS 5 then we'll see the major spec bump next year! (iphone5)

iPad 2 got bad cams because of the thinness bull if they stick an 8mp cam in the new iPhone in a few months I'll be **** as they could of stuck the 5mp ones in iPad 2 and fattened it up 1mm!
;)

Uh, that would be an iPhone 5. You do realise that 5 is the generation when people talk about iPhone. Apple has yet to name their next device, but whatever real name it will have, it will still be the 5th generation iPhone.

The one next year would be iPhone 6.

Sadly, Vegas will cost you more for a week than SF (if you want to do it "right").

And doing San Francisco "right" is close if not more. At least in Vegas you have massive competition for your entertainment dollar. San Francisco entertainment venues is this strange, cabal like maze of approval processes with some social engineering objective hidden from the public.

Hotels, restaurants and other "substance" costs are a hell of a lot cheaper in Vegas than in San Francisco. I did Vegas for less than a grand in a week last summer just to see how far I could stretch my dollar. I ended up with free rooms, free food, complementary shows and spent my money on what matters -- booze, guns and women!

It's still only going to be an iPhone 4 at best like the 3GS was a bumped buy me again iPhone 3G! People are expecting loads of hardware bumps and a redesign like the iPhone 4 we won't see it!

It will be the iPhone 4 with an a5 chip and to be honest there is no speed difference to my iPhone 4 to my iPad 2, A4 is speedy still on such a small display!

What I'd like to see it major software updates to the boring grid of apps as the iPhone no matter how new outside the software seems as old as the hill! It's boring repetitive but practical and
works!

I don't see that at all. What I see is "number 9, number 9, number 9." Of course if I put on a pair of anaglyph 3D glasses I also see "the Walrus was Paul." Ha. Ha.

Well Google I/O conference sold out in 59 Minutes!

The difference being:
1. 1/3 the price at $450.
2. Google gives all attendees an Android phone.
3. A scalper bought a huge portion of the tickets to resell. Apple does not let you transfer tickets. You must check-in at the registration desk with government issued ID (4th year attending).

So the reason apple charges more is because??? Seems like google is a better deal.

Not like that matters, if you develop for OSX, iOS or both... Then the sky high price might be worth it.

The iPad 2 scalpers are going after the developers now! Have they no shame!
:apple::apple::eek::eek::):)

oh... non transferable... nevermind :)

The 3GS was quite a bump from the 3G. Anyone thinking/claiming otherwise has never owned a 3GS.

An iPhone "4S" would still be quite an upgrade over the iPhone 4, even if it is just more ram and an A5 chip (with a much better SGX543-MP2 GPU). And it would still very much be the iPhone 5 as in 5th Generation iPhone. Just like the iPhone 3GS was the 3rd generation iPhone to the iPhone 3G's 2nd generation status.
