Have they ever announced new hardware at WWDC? This has always been a software thing, or at least it was for the years I've been watching. However, I do think maybe they should have a separate event for the OS and cover TVOS too. Hell, it doesn't look like TVOS is having an update this year either, which is a bummer, unless that is coming later.
Yes, lots.

Did people sleep through the bit about Universal Control?

There is simply no way to do this on Windows, for example, without a KVM switcher box. There is no software that lets you move your mouse over to another computer by simply moving the cursor to the edge of the screen and it just pops over like it. Same for the keyboard. Devs have tried and it doesn't work. There are apps that have tried and it never works right, drivers are a mess, and it never works, let alone consistently. You'd have to get a KVM box and hit a switch that moves the keyboard and mouse's cords in a switcher like fashion over to the other machine. Let alone a tablet.

I think Universal Control is pretty cool for sure, and will use it happily... but thats not completely right here, Synergy has allowed this feature between Windows (and linux) PC's for almost 15 years now. Works perfectly.

What’s most depressing is I love 3D Touch, I never realized that 0% of the people I knew and basically most iPhone users in general never knew it even existed.

Most people didn’t know what problem it was supposed to solve or make easier. I never owned a phone that did 3D Touch so I never bothered learning anything about it.

Apple seems to love multi-purposing buttons and controls where you can’t easily see what has been selected from the possible multiple options and it either acts the way you wanted or it doesn’t. And if it doesn’t you need to do the entire process again. Or you are out of luck if whatever you were trying to select an option for was a momentary or random occurrence.

Apple knows that so many non-devs watch this for a peek at the new OS, so it's skewed to that audience, leaving Devs to attend the sessions for more nitty gritty. Been going more and more that way for years now.

Yup. I miss the pre-iPhone days. WWDC 2006 (which I attended in person) was the last one for developers. It's been downhill since then.

The 8 GB version is pretty useless too. We were expecting so much with the M1 in the iPad Pro. Still no real multitasking, still no pro apps. What a disappointment.
And yet Apple sell ipad pros like hot cakes. They only have to do the minimum as the market leader. They save the big Stuff for years later. M1 in ipad is just showroom bullet points.

Blah blah, code, blah blah.
Uh buddy you're watching the wrong keynote then. This is for developers so you can have apps running on your Apple hardware. This isn't a hardware show, despite them displaying some hardware in the past.

Synergy is one of the failed apps I was referencing lol. It's glitchy as hell. No experience with Linux but on Windows it's tragic. It works maybe once you first set it up, and then it just is all downhill from there. It's not at all as fluid as UC. Maybe they've improved Synergy since I used it last, but it was a dog and nowhere near the level of stability you want.
