David Zeiler of The Baltimore Sun points out that the event schedule for the Moscone Center in San Francisco is listing a "Corporate Meeting" running from June 6th through June 12th in Moscone West and speculates that this event is Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2009.

While Apple has historically varied the dates of WWDC from as early as May to as late as August, WWDC has been held on the second full work week of June each of the past two years. Several days ago, MacDailyNews pointed to a similar "Corporate Meeting" scheduled for May 16th through May 22nd and speculated that it may represent WWDC, but that event is no longer appearing on the Moscone Center's calendar.

Zeiler speculates that Mac OS X Snow Leopard will be released at WWDC. This would certainly not be a surprise, as Apple announced at last year's WWDC that Snow Leopard would ship in "about a year".

As additional evidence for a Snow Leopard release at that time, Zeiler points to several listings on Amazon.com for Snow Leopard-related books scheduled for release from mid-June through July. In our experience, however, neither Amazon nor publishers have any particular advance notice about software release dates, and the publication dates for their related books are merely based on "best guesses".

WWDC also seems to be the perfect time to ship SL because of all the developer goodies the new technology brings. Can't wait!

I think an announcement with the release at the end of the month seems more plausible.

to Snow Leopard or not to Snow Leopard

I thought it very ballsy and innovative for Apple to spend a year of development on performance and not features (ie, Leopard to Snow Leopard).

I'd really like to see more companies focus on such things, and I'd really like to reward Apple for their efforts by upgrading. However, if I'm being totally honest, I have to say that Leopard runs awesome on my MacBook. It will be hard to justify $150 (CAD) upgrade when everything is already running great.

How, it wouldn't take much of a feature to make me upgrade but I think they have to give me something more that just a performance hike. Even just a sexy new look and feel would probably do the trick for me.

@ Boxlight : Yeah i agree it's great apple are taking the time to develop this properly! I can't wait to see the performance boosts.

@ Carfac : I can almost guarantee SL won't be it. Imagine after the keynote on SL they say " Theres just one more thing" and there steve jobs is standing with a new iPhone or Notebook! Awesome!

Noooo. I was hoping that snop leopard was going to be released in the next week or two so I could buy a new mac pro with it installed and save some money and I hope steve does come back. You seem so certain

If SL really is 'just' concentrating on speed, there's not much to shout about at a conference. Well, not for a whole keynote anyway.

As with last year, this will be more about the iPhone won't it?

Yeah. After I posted, I remembered we'll see a new iPhone about then. I do not hold out much hope for something substantially better, just incremental, but we can hope! I mean, if after 2 years we still do not have cut and paste....

The point of the conference isnt to actually release things, apple just happens to from time to time. It is FIRST and FOREMOST a place where developers get some good ole fashion learnin' straight from apple.

Note that the book publishers information on Amazon wasn't a reliable predictor for Leopard's release as they initially showed that the books would be released in May/June.

I dont want SL to come out. The longer it takes, the better the OS will be. But if they do come out of it. Its going to be so great

Perfect timing  as I'm looking to order a new iMac on July 1. So it's likely to ship with SL :apple: :apple: :apple: :)

Hope that Steve Jobs returns during WWDC, I think he will. But I got this thought that he will also use the WWDC to announce he's leaving Apple.
