New iPhone = inevitable.

That's right around the time all the first American iPhone punters will be coming off their contracts.

Are you kidding???? Nothing against Steve (and I wish him the best).... but he is NOT coming back.

How do all these people know the future???
Can someone PLEASE give me the winner of the next triple crown??
I could use some posh flash cash.

I thought it very ballsy and innovative for Apple to spend a year of development on performance and not features (ie, Leopard to Snow Leopard).

I'd really like to see more companies focus on such things, and I'd really like to reward Apple for their efforts by upgrading. However, if I'm being totally honest, I have to say that Leopard runs awesome on my MacBook. It will be hard to justify $150 (CAD) upgrade when everything is already running great.

How, it wouldn't take much of a feature to make me upgrade but I think they have to give me something more that just a performance hike. Even just a sexy new look and feel would probably do the trick for me.

I'm running the developer build on my developer build and the performance increase is insane. Just wait until you try iy you will want to spend the 150.

I posted this earlier today...

( Which reminds me - how come people always ignore my Apple, Industry and Internet Discussion posts but when the same story goes Page One it suddenly gets a zillion comments? Geez  )

If SL really is 'just' concentrating on speed, there's not much to shout about at a conference. Well, not for a whole keynote anyway.

As with last year, this will be more about the iPhone won't it?

Snow Leopard isn't "just" about speed, though that's very important, but the fact is, the people attending WWDC care a great deal about the stuff in SL that average folk this us wouldn't understand or care about, so it's a very appropriate place to talk about all of those types of intricate details.

Theres not way the book rumor is true, if authors are writing books basked on a fairly terrible beta i'd hate the see the final result of their work. Even basic things like CS4 barely run on the current SL beta, and Flash CS4 simply isn't happening, so i cant wait to see those "books" :D

four things?

first SJs return
second SLs release
third new iPhone
fourth SJs retirement....with SL and new iPhone as our parting gift.

what is the chance of FREE upgrade of Snow Leopard for Leopard Users? :D

(yeah i know i know APPLE and FREE does not go together)

If it is mainly performance improvement and bug fixes why not?

I also wonder how the Mac Box Set works out with Snow Leopard is due in months time

Why do so many people think Steve is going to retire here?

Especially based on no evidence?

If it was meant to be free, it wouldn't be 10.6...

Return

Especially since Steve does nothing for three weeks before a keynote besides rehears, meaning he would have to return to work over a month early.

Makes no sense people.

Edit - Oops! I read return! Sorry!

Chill out folks, we all may be getting a bit ahead of oursleves here. Four other dates ranges are just as likely. June 15 - 19, July 20 - 24, August 17 - 21, August 24 - 28 as per this information:

WWDC 2009 to occur June 6-12? - Don't count on it as other weeks are just as likely in June, July, or August

So there are actually 5 different weeks as of this point during which Apple could be conducting WWDC.

Well, at least its gotta be one of them.

I just think apple will want it to coincide with Steves come back (which was supposed to be in June anyway).

If Steve is actually going to head up WWDC then I would bet on one of the August dates.

Apple will want to announce the third version of the iPhone before June 29th, as that's when the first batch of iPhone owners' two-year contracts with AT&T run out.

Based on what Apple's directors have said at the shareholder's meeting, I fully expect Steve Jobs to return for the event (provided it's held the dates mentioned). Whether or not he's up to handling the keynote is another story. Otherwise, that story will once again dominate the headlines overshadowing any product announcements.

I expect a public Snow Leopard demo, new iPhone and something new. I still don't expect Snow Leopard to ship until after Windows 7, my money is on October.

Looking forward to it. Can't see myself upgrading to Snow Leopard as Leopard already runs a treat for me. That said, i'll end up buying it :D

Apple might actually get me a purchase something from them this year with Snow Leopard.

My router just started working properly again. :D

Once SL comes out it will probably ship with...SL?

That would be the most logical answer

During transition to a new OS, Apple likes to slip in the new OS Disk inside the stocked Mac boxes with a small manual on how to install it.

And if you bought your Mac right after the new OS release date and it wasn't included with your Mac, I guess you can get if for free at any Apple store provided you show them the receipt and hand in the old disc. Be aware the exchange disc will only work on your hardware model, not any mac. So you can't upgrade your entire Mac household just like that.

I'm planning to get a new high end 13" unibody Macbook when SL is out. Hopefully the hardware will get a little upgrade at that time so I have a Revision B model, a bit better specs and longer usability in the long run. Macs have great resale value. Selling my 3 year old black Macbook should give me about 500-600 Euros (it's in great condition since most parts have been recently replaced under warranty, even the display and battery). My Macbook is actually performing great, but I don't want to spend 150 Euros just for the software upgrade if I can get a serious hardware upgrade for like 400 bucks more which will last about another 3 years.

Anyway, Apple events for developers are awesome, they really care for their third party devs because it's them who make all those nice apps that make OSX even more desirable and more compatible with the PC world.
