I hope Snow Leopard is at a lower price than Leopard, otherwise I can see quite a few people giving it a miss.
I hope not, and I'm not just saying that as a shareholder. Software gets bloated rather than optimized because people who don't understand software development think that only bells and whistles I can see and play with deserve a paid upgrade. What is happening to Snow Leopard is probably requiring more R&D than other Mac update. This is huge stuff here, not just some bug fixes and simple optimizations.

I have Safari 4 - it's fine I guess. I like FF3 better.

The Web App feature is cool though, I have Web Apps for Woot and My Coke Rewards

Personally I can’t wait for snow leopard!

As 10.5 has been a big let down.

I can’t remember the amount of time I have formatted and reinstalled 10.5 on my iMac to see if it stops freezing.

I can’t even write a letter of open safari with out the spinning beach ball and it’s all happened since 10.5 appeared.

I am really considering going back to 10.4.

I would pay upwards of £250 for a stable system that doesn’t kenal panic once a day and freeze all the time.

Bring on snow leopard. (Money waiting)

Honestly, what use would an iPhone developer have for Safari 4 for a Mac?

Umm...... isn't Safari the only way to test web apps for iphone on Windows?

;)

Granted, iPhone doesnt require v4 compatiblity at the moment, and im guessing Safari 4 isnt availible for Win testing...

My point was, I would have expected signing up for iphone dev would have granted me access to all free dev as well....

anyway :)

Safari 4 beta for Windows is available as a free DL too.

Access to the free development tools is not the same as being a developer. If you want to get access to betas of other stuff, like 10.5.4 or Snow Leopard (when it's out of preview(alpha) and into beta, and the workshos and assistance by Apple developers you have to pay for your ADC membership. $500 mminimum... but you get a free T-Shirt that says, "ICODE".

- the default filesystem in Snow Leopard is ZFS, though HFS is still supported
Is it case-sensitive? One of the things I despise about HFS is that it isn't case-sensitive, and the case sensitive version (HFSX) that appeared in 10.4 doesn't work. If you try using HFSX on your boot disk, or make your home directory HFSX (if you have FileVault turned on) OSX will seriously malfunction.

Um how did you own me by saying you know of a guy that has a leaked copy? Leaked = illegal, released through dev center is not leaked, it is pre-released... mmk owned...

Mmmk, I got owned there, but.... why is my iPhone dev account not free enough to show it? I don't see safari 4 in the mac dev center, i'm guessing I have to register for free mac dev center then?....

Ok then. Yeah sorry. And I know torrents are illegal. Thank you for the info?

What's the status of ZFS in Snow Leopard? This is from a a user that released information to LoopRumors:

- the default filesystem in Snow Leopard is ZFS, though HFS is still supported
- the requirements on the DVD indeed state that it requires an Intel processor
- when browsing through the file systems, there was no mention of PowerPC in the entire OS
- a new version of Safari is also included, which seems to load pages a bit faster than the existing version

Does that mean ZFS is bootable in Snow Leopard?

I'm sure Safari will be snappier :)

ZFS will only be for Serve. meh.

Maybe they will squeeze it into the consumer edition.

So far that is what is listed. I'm assuming that ZFA will be the default for Server and as an option for the consumer version.

Why is that a mistake?

becuase it should be a dock? compare it to your System Preferences.

although it just pretty much looks exactly like Leopard ive noticed theres a new framework called Airport at version 1.0 in addition to Apple80211 at version 5.2.1 http://www.apfeltalk.de/redaktion/riesenzwerg/mag/snowleopard/leopard2.jpg. does this mean Apple are concentrating on fixing Airport drop-out issues for some users too? and also it just says "SUCHE" in the Finder sidebar http://www.apfeltalk.de/redaktion/riesenzwerg/mag/snowleopard/leopard6.jpg as in just "SEARCH" which i changed it to in my Finder. it would be "SUCHE FUR" if translated from "SEARCH FOR".

How much faster can it get. My 1st Gen Mac pro (4x2.66,8GB,1900xt) feels very fast with lots of stuff going on. I never thought "if only OSX was tweaked up"

So...

why would I want to save a webpage as an application?

All the web based apps... Flicker, Google Apps, etc... they all rely on the internet don't they? Like... the reason they're not just applications you download is because you want to use them seamlessly with other websites or other people online.

At first I thought, "That's neat, I could save a webchat as one of these apps." Then I realized... how the hell would that be any different from just dragging a bookmark of it to your dock (or anywhere else for that matter?)

Dashclippings are actually pretty useful... I use them a lot. The weather widgets... I don't like any of them. So I just clipped out a few sections like the pollen forcast out of weather.com. I also clipped the big banner from Blizzard because they almost always change it to reflect a new article. And the "Newest Comic" from VGcats.

I hope they at least give Snow Leopard a new UI like the iPhone/iPod Touch one and a new wallpaper. :)
Also, make Snow Leopard fully multi-touch too. :)

I can only just imagine.
Infinite power...

I'm using Safari 4 (anybody with an AppleID can download it – Google "Safari 4 Download") and so far it seems like a release version. It is indeed zippier and I'm loving the Save as Web Application feature.

I sometimes open Safari just to go on Facebook that it's nice that it now seems like its own application without all the clutter of bookmarks, address bar, etc... and it gets to sit in my Dock. Also, because it's its own app now, it retains the settings I set for it so it's always the right size.

The coolest function that I've found for it so far was to save the Facebook Chat as its own application. I now have an IM client that works on the Mac and everybody I know uses. :)

a brand new way to make small apps for Mac without Cocoa knowledge or the Developer Tools... just code a "site", using JS, Flash, PHP, CSS, whatever, save as a web application, change the icon, and you have a new app... could be interesting... AND you probably wouldn't need to code any sockets for the app to communicated with an online database to boot! :p

but what is this really? are we going to start having our bookmarks fill up our dock as standalone apps? maybe Safari will work like a stack for a "bookmark" quick launch?

Stability is good--too bad Microsoft has had Stability since XP service Pack #1.
HAHAHAHAH! Oohhhh that's funny LOL.... hahah.... hah... Oooh look a blue screen! Unexpectedly quit! Look it's a sand timer! Oooohhehehaha

I really like the idea of building up the foundation behind OS X, but i still have a feeling that there are still a few user -end features yet to be announced...

No new features? It's a year out and so far it has these "new" features.

100% Redone Cocoa Finder, With lots of extra navigation goodies, thumbnail slider, and hella fast. 50,000 items with labels no lag in browsing.

100% Cocoa iTunes, :)

Safari 4, Awesome stuff is happening, for ADC leopard members you can get safari 4 now.

And don't forget Quicktime X. Think VLC + Windows Media Player GPU optimization + Apple with GPU acceleration on crack. They've finally GOTTEN MEDIA playing done right. It's like BeOS was back in the day.

And the multicore stuff, it's hella, hella fast.... AND I do mean hella.

Best Regards,
Court Kizer

exchange support in address book is nice, what about full support with mail.app? I'd love to get rid of entourage (not universal app, slow), and I refuse to upgrade to the newer 2008 version.
