Agreed. Those dates don't look much like WWDC. I've only been a couple of times, but AFAIK it usually runs through Friday.
Looking forward to it. I'm sick and tired of everything iOS related. Not that I don't enjoy using my iPod Touch, just that I find myself hardly even using it anymore.. But I personally use my computer the most, and I think that will be the same for most people..

My 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB of RAM 13" Macbook Pro is already being slow... I was disappointed. It's only been a year! So although I would really want Lion cause I love the iOS and Mac OS integration... But will it slow my macbook pro more?
All iPhone upgrade releases will sync from here on out.
And I suspect VZW will offer their early iPhone 4 adopters the option to upgrade to iPhone 5 for a meager upgrade fee. Something like the $18 upgrade fee AT&T offered for those jumping from 3G to 3GS (or was it 3GS to iPhone 4?). Otherwise, agreed: there will be some pissed off early adopters.
Personally, if I had been waiting for the iPhone on VZW, the only way I would jump in is if VZW made an official "we'll allow you to upgrade when the new device comes out in 4 months" announcement - one that VZW could never make, even if there were such plans. That said, it doesn't take much research to know there has been a steady iPhone release cycle since 2007.

I would imagine that this year's iPhone schedule would be different because of (a) Verizon iPhone released in February, with a lot of Apple resources used to create this "4 1/2" version, more time is needed for the iPhone 5, (b) more of a lag time for Verizon customers so they aren't as upset, (c) a better time frame to release an iPhone (back to school, closer to Christmas, and more in line with iPod release dates) (d) Lion release at this time

What? No new Mac Minis or MacPros this year?
Both are labelled as mid to end product life cycle by the buyer guide and by the end of this year it would approach a year and half since both were updated. In August it will be 5 years since the MacPro was introduced and in that time there has never been a form-factor change. Many MP owners are less about the form factor and more about the "just get it done!" raw computing power that helps them earn a living day-in and day-out, but I'm just saying...
And, while we're on the subject of product revisions, can we PLEASE bring back a full-sized BT keyboard with a number pad?!?
In the past, they set up, and hand-out preregistration stuff (badges, T-shirts, etc.) on Sunday. Long line starts before midnight. Keynote is Monday AM. Big party + live band is usually on Thursday evening.
Any Friday sessions are often just reruns of earlier presentations which maxed out the fire-dept limits on some room.

Many threads on MacRumors about Lion, many believe iOS and OS X may one day merge (developers run iOS in simulators on OS X, it wouldn't be a stretch). For heavy hitters, I don't want iOS to run on my desktop, things change, but that will NEVER suit professionals.
As for Lion, name one major feature that has been getting buzz (besides "Mission Control" and the already released iOS - err- OS X "App Store"). Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard beta's were consistently released and leaked. Lion? Not a meow except for one sad announcement (not even an independent focus but a small mention with other topics.
Features dropped from Leopard/Snow Leopard beta's:
1. "Resolution Independence" (and don't tell me after 4+ years they are still "getting it right"
2. ZFS (yes, Sun Microsystems company issue, but ZFS could have easily been acquired by Apple with their billions, would have helped manage large file systems such as XServ - oh, wait )
3. Practical features such as "Answering Machine" in iChat in a Leopard beta allowing video/audio away messages and video/audio recorded messages, even incorporating VoIP/Landlines/Mobile phones into the Mac and accessible away from home (great for the deaf). FaceTime? Isn't it still in beta on OS X? :rollseyes:
4. OpenGL (no 3+ support??!)
5. What happened to "Grand Central" focus?
6. Apple moved OS X developers to iOS in 2007 when the precious iPhone was released, delayed "Snow Leopard" and since, not much on the OS X front.
7. XServe is gone, replaced by Mac Mini's and Mac Pro's
8. The dedicated line up CCFL LCD displays replaced by ONE stripped own iMac LED LCD
9. Affordable PowerMac G5 almost doubled in price with an overpowered Mac Pro Xeon Server system

11. MobileMe: buggy at best. IDisk is a joke, Dropbox kills it (yes, I know they operate differently, but why not CHANGE iDisk to operate BETTER?)

13. Professional software focus dropped or dropped completely. "Final Cut Pro": a friend who recently left LA as a documentary film maker went back to Apple to work on the next release. Don't expect much, features such as "Share to XXXX" as in iPhoto are being added to a PROFESSIONAL MOVIE EDITING APPLICATION. I can hear editors running to but Avid and Premiere Pro now.

Good points, bedifferent. I'm actually a little surprised to learn that nothing from the Lion build has been seeded to you developers yet. I hope that's not an omen of how little will be different in 10.7
People need to realize that Apple doesn't cater to only American customers. It doesn't matter if Verizon just got the iPhone 4.

iOS 5(Lion Cub) will have it's own roadmap event early next month. Although iOS5 will still get good coverage in sessions. Although with iOS5 and Lion shipping so close together it's seeming more obvious that they are alignment builds (not merging as far as the user perspective) so we should get some really strong clues if not outright details about Lion at iOS5 roadmap.
Still the bulk of Lion should be at WWDC. Also expects lots of details on some big movements to some of the coreAPIs between the clues in both OS's but that might more session content not keynote, well not more than one line of the keynote.
Still I think both events are really important for where apple is heading not just for the next year but for the whole decade.
