I’ve used ChatGPT and Grok. Grok is hands down better. So many people won’t use it because of Musk but they are narrow minded.

How did you get around the extremely short message prompt limit? I basic subscribed for a month not too long and it was awful in the fact that prompt limits were set very low and other features were locked away behind pay where I could get them included with ChatGPT, etc (photo generation and such)

I never hit the short prompt limit so I can’t answer that for you. Here’s a good comparison from an outside source.

I don't use either. Altman and Musk are both dishonest clowns, but Musk has a bigger nose.

Call me narrow-minded if you wish...I've never had a X/Twitter account, never viewed X/Twitter, and I'm not starting today just to try out some lame AI from a company run by Harry Bōlz.

Competition is good, but I'll take everything Musk declares with a grain of salt.

I need proof that it is vastly superior, and I'll believe it. If it's so much better than anything OpenAI does, why the hell did he want to buy them last week? 🙄

As for the "maximally truthful" selling point, with all the declarations he made on X so far this year, I just don't believe it one minute.
You only now started not believing him?

FWIW I am not a Musk apologist by any means (check my post history 😂), and have not used it myself to confirm (and have no intention of using it), but people I trust in the AI space who have used it are saying it is very impressive - and some of these people would be much happier if they could say it sucked.

I’m reading all the responses on r/locallama by engineers and users and they are uniformly against using Grok and they want Musk to literally die on Mars today.

I have never had this issue. How does it manifest? You have Permium X? Or you're using the free tier?

Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI on Tuesday announced Grok-3, and Musk is making some bold claims. The new AI model is said to have more than ten times the computing power of its predecessor and outperforms leading competitors, including OpenAI's GPT-4o and Google's Gemini.

grok-ai-logo.jpg

The latest iteration of xAI's flagship model introduces new "reasoning" capabilities through two distinct modes: "Think," which displays the AI's reasoning process while resolving requests, and "Big Brain" for handling more computationally intensive tasks.

Alongside the model update, xAI announced Deep Search, which the company describes as a "next generation search engine." The new feature is designed to analyze information from the internet and X (Twitter) to provide comprehensive answers to user queries.

Grok-3 will be available to X Premium Plus subscribers, which now costs $40 per month, up from $22 – the second such price hike in as many months. The company is also launching a new subscription tier called SuperGrok, priced at $30 per month, offering "the most advanced capabilities and earliest access to new features."

Musk said that Grok-3 is designed to be a "maximally truth-seeking AI," even when such truth might conflict with political correctness. The model has faced previous criticism for spreading election misinformation and having fewer restrictions on text-to-image generation.

Grok-3's reasoning capabilities are available in the Grok app. In the future, xAI says it plans to add synthesized voice capabilities to the Grok chatbot and intends to make the previous version, Grok-2, open source in the coming months.

Nope. Zero trust in Musk and will never put another dime in his pocket.

Despite what everyone thinks about Musk, I really think that iOS 19.x should allow the ability of Apple Intelligence to choose whatever AI engine you want to use, whether OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Meta AI, Alibaba's Qwen, Xai Grok, and so on.

I don't disagree

But can we choose native Photos and Cloud Storage back end options first?

I'd personally get more value out of that optionality

I've said that as well; it should just be an API that any AI can their app into if they wish. I keep AI disabled, so it's of no concern to me, but it makes sense for those who use it.

Too bad Apple will never allow that to happen! Apple Intelligence would be shown as the fraud that it is.

Apple has said that there are many AI functions beyond the scope of Apple Intelligence. But it needs to allow your choice of AI engine you want to use beyond Apple Intelligernce itself.

Hi, even though I have a premium subscription, I haven't changed to Grok 3, do you know why, isn't it released for everyone, is it related to the area I live in, I live in Israel, thanks in advance

It already does this with ChatGPT for "world knowledge" queries. And I'll note that the ChatGPT integration is listed in settings under "Extensions" and certainly looks like you'll eventually be able to add others.

No, it's Premium+, not Premium.

Let's all be real honest. 7 years ago 75% of the readers on this site thought Elon Musk walked on water. It's not the technology or products that have changed minds.
Let's take that a step further. 7 years ago Elon was making claims that his cars would be robotaxis by 2020, we'd be on Mars by 2021, buying anything other than a Tesla was like buying a horse...etc. etc. It was around that time that his celebrity caught up with reality and people started asking why anyone believes any of this. From there, it's all downhill.

Why do we continue to give credit to this guy? If you want to celebrate the team fine, but let's not pretend this dude is in there coding and developing the LLM. He's not designing rockets or building batteries or electric motors. He's a money guy who spews a bunch of vaporware promises to pump his value in the company.

We don't give Warren Buffet direct credit when all the companies he's invested in go up in value. Why are we giving this carnival barker so much credit?
The same reason we give some credit to all visionaries. The same reason we credit Jobs or Bezos. Partly as shorthand but also recognition of the talent for bringing great teams together who accomplish great things.

As for any claims about Grok -3 I would wait for tests. Musk tends to oversell despite accomplishing amazing things.

I have never, ever seen someone give Tim credit for just about anything. Are you imagining this?

You've missed it perhaps, as it does get obscured
Tim is a supply chain and optimization wizard!

I'm tapped out on him leading things due to what I personally perceive as some stagnation and misses in "product", but he's been an undeniably good steward of the company, especially from a financial angle.

Grok2 going open source is consistent with Musks vision. What a big win. That’s pretty huge. Llama is also open source. These are great developments.
