As for Bing Rewards, I use it too. I usually end up earning a $5 Amazon gift card every 1.5 months.

I just looked and didnt see an option anywhere to change my search engine to Bing to earn. Probably looking in the wrong spot.

Look under Safari on Mac and iOS devices. There will be a section for default search engine. Make sure you are signed into your Microsoft account and search. You’ll earn points.

I even do their quizzes. They are fun.

To redeem, go to the redeem tab. One year of Live is 29,000 points. They often have “hot deals” where you can redeem for less. I had enough points last year to get Live and Game Pass for a year (they discontinued a year long pass. Still have 3-month one)

At this point, I have Live through 2019 and already 20,000 points banked toward the next one.

I’m an average user. Don’t obsess about it and just use it everyday to search. The points add up quickly.

Thats amazingly helpful, thank you!!

Somehow, I’ve ended up with all the consoles this gen??? I’m loving my Switch.

Anyway I have a launch PS4 and an Xbox One S, having owned both I prefer the PS4, to me it’s easier and faster to use, simple things like you can select to put it to sleep or turn off fully in the same menu, instead of having to preset that on the Xbox. I also find the PSN store better to use, and Sony don’t have adverts on the home screen!
I’ve played the PS4 Pro a few times at my Sisters house, it’s a very nice upgrade and offers the same experience but faster.
Also with the PS4, I’ve noticed if you have it connected on Ethernet and sleeping it will automatically update itself, I’ve yet to see the Xbox do that.

So for me I say PS4 Pro, notice I haven’t bothered mentioning graphics or games. IMO the games look great on both systems, but as to the actual games, that’s ALWAYS personal preference, for me I think The Last Of Us is one of the best games ever made if not the best.

Now I don’t think I’ll be selling any of my consoles anytime soon, I have tons of games on each. But I may change to a PS4 Pro during the black week sales.

Both my Xboxes update themseves and games automatically. It’s actually one of the things I like about them better than PS4.

I can also remotely turn on the Xbox and install content, so it’s ready to go after work. I know PS4 cannot do this...

Both are good and as you said, personal preference.

EDIT: Apparently you can do all those things on PS4 now. I stand corrected.

Your experience is different to mine as I have had the opposite, works on the PS4 but not the Xbox, and as said above you can use the Sony App to remote install a game etc if you leave the console in sleep mode.

This must be relatively new. I stand corrected. Sony keeps messing me up. Last time it was external drive support. Now this... LOL

Thanks for the info.
No problem. I think part of the issue is that Sony doesn’t enable it by default. Like apolloa mentioned, I also have seen better results with the PS4, especially when it comes to the reliability of the PS4’s sleep mode. When I had an Xbox, it failed on occasion, and it also caused me problems with disc read errors. It was bad enough that I thought it was my console and used tech support (rare for me), but MS told me that I just shouldn’t use sleep mode! That did fix it, but it came at a great cost.

I have decided to grab a PS4 Slim to play the exclusives on Sony and then upgrade to an X1 X for my main console. Just waiting for the right deal to come along as the X1X has had a lot of deals come along recently.

Just an FYI, I had a slim and it gets *super hot* - especially underneath and heats up the area it is sitting on. You should use it in the vertical position (I had to put it on top of a stereo receiver that never got really hot but had vents all over the top and sides).

I had the OG PS4 and it never got as hot and neither does the PS4 Pro as it is a larger unit with more surface area and larger fan.

Sony tried cramming all the PS4 circuits into a really thin package...

Well damn, I thought "its the newest design, lets get that one!". Maybe i will just get a normal PS4 now then. I guess it depends on what price point is right. If i can snag a great deal on a Pro I will just grab that one.

Ooh I didn’t know this. that is useful to know as the hotter it is, the higher failure rate and shorter lifespan it’ll have! I stripped my launch PS4 down last year and redid the thermal paste and cleaned it all out as it was driving me nuts sounding like a jet engine! I managed to improve it a fair bit.
The Xbox One S has no issues with heat at all.
Trouble with the PS4 though is if you have it stood up your blocking the air vents on one side.

FYI we bought my brother in law his PS4 Pro as a Christmas Present, I got it off amazon during the black week sales for £270 which is the same as the PS4 Slim is currently! Bargain. So if you can wait and want a Pro or an X it can be worth it for those sales.

Xbox One X and PS4 Slim.

The Pro is a (comparatively) minor upgrade and it's pretty noisy. I don't think it was their finest hour where as the PS4 Slim is.

Having said that if you can pick one up in the sales for £270 instead you probably should.

Yeah, it can be noisy at times, but I usually play with headphones on, so I never really notice. The less demanding games don't ramp up the fan. Is the One X pretty quiet all the time? I kinda wondered how good the cooling was going to be considering they shrunk the chassis down from the One S while also adding a lot more processing power.

The X is usually non existent quiet. Every now and then the fan will come on that sounds about as loud as a desk fan on low.

The Pro is about three times as powerful as a standard PS4, not minor at all really, not as powerful as the X obviously.

Xbox any day of the week. Halo and Forza are worth it for me - I also love the Xbox controller as opposed to the PS4 controller.

I see rumours have started about the PS5 now lol. I can’t see it being out till 2020 though but you never know?

It makes sense since One X has set the new bar, and PS4 sales are finally starting to slow down. Rumors are thin, but I suspect Ryzen+Vega. Something HBM would be awesome, but that might be a little too expensive. Hopefully some formal SSD support, even if it still ships with spinning storage. Maybe a hybrid setup?

But then what do Microsoft do when the PS5 launches and trounces the X in terms of power? Anyway won’t be for a few years I suspect, no doubt they’ll launch new ones at the same time again.

No sales recently on the X or Pro so still console-less for now. Its been somewhat freeing. :)

Hoping something soon though as I miss my XB.

Quick little story. I have been craving a console after i sold all mine in the recent GS deals. They were too good to pass up for my use case and where i want to go future with an X and a Pro.

Well its been 3 weeks without a console and its been rough. I have been waiting for the right deal on an X and then also a Pro as I want to play all the exclusives.

Was in Target yesterday and almost sprung and said eff it and pay full price on a Pro. My daughter yells to go "potty" and we made a photo finish all the way to the front of the store and the Pro was long forgotten.

Wake up this morning, roll over and turn the phone on.

SlickDeals alert..PS4 Pro and Cartwheel $320!!!

Add another 5% with red card, a gift card burning a hole in my wallet since christmas and a $10 for all the diapers and crap we buy their routinely.....walked out the door with a PS4 Pro for $250+tax.

Patience has paid off!!! Now to stumble upon an X deal hopefully soon.

TLDR.....Consoleless for 3 weeks, almost bought full price yesterday, deal comes across as i wake up!

Great deal.

Keep in mind that with E3 around the corner, Sony and MS usually has sales on their hardware.

I would imagine that PS4/Pro will be $249/$349 during E3 and possibly here on out.
