What is the difference between the Xbox Elite 2 Controller and the Xbox Elite 2 Core Controller? The core controller is much cheaper than the non-core controller, so I would like to save some money.
MS has a graphic...

Soooo,
two things seemed to have changed with my game playing habits.
First - I cancelled gamepass. I found that I barely used it. Certainly not to the extent that it was worth paying 15 dollars a month. Under normal circumstances, I'd probably keep paying that, and just use the service when I wanted too, but life has gotten so expensive lately, I've re-evaluated all of my subscriptions and it was clear I'm not getting value out of this.

Secondly my Xbox is collecting dust. i've not really used it that much. I'm disappointed, I tried moving from the living room to my bedroom and seeing if that changed but no. Oddly enough there I am in my bedroom with my Razer playing games instead of the Xbox ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think I may see if my stepson is interested in it, maybe he'll get more use out of it then I will.

I agree on the game pass, not using that as much as I thought. But I definitely still love using my series x. Mainly for call of duty, but still play some gta in between.

Still very happy with my system.

I agree on the 15 a month for game pass. It probably appeals much more to those who have free time for lots of games vs adults with kids who take up a lot of time.

I did want to point put the “stacking gamepass hack” is still in force to lower the cost (although it is more initially As a lump sum.)

Basically, you need to not have ultimate game pass, either have nothing or only xbox gold. You can buy cards/codes for Xbox live gold, and obtain up to 36 months of Xbox gold. Then you convert it to Xbox live ultimate with the 1 month plan. It will convert the existing gold (up to 36 months) at a 1 for 1 rate. (Anything over 36 months is lost, so if you put 3 gold cards on your account before you convert you don’t get 37 months.)

You should then go into your Microsoft account and turn off the auto renew option, it turns on when you sign up for ultimate.

After you are on the ultimate plan, if you redeem a gold card/code it will prorate, but nowhere near the 1 to 1 rate of the initial conversion, so you must let the plan expire before doing this deal again. I have done it twice so far.

I have never paid for Game Pass. Here's a tip to pass (no pun intended) along. If you join Microsoft Rewards, you earn rewards points for daily and weekly sets. You also earn rewards points for doing Bing searches. You then redeem those rewards points and purchase 1 month worth of Game Pass Ultimate for free. I currently have close to 3 years of Game Pass Ultimate built up all for free. Doing the daily sets and weekly sets along with daily Bing searches takes between 20-25 mins per day.

Gamepass is cheaper than a bad game - and a LOT of games are mystifyingly bad. Chorus, Star Wars Squadrons, a bunch of Wolfensteins, mountains of games I've tried, played for a bit and thought "this is over-complicated" / "this is a suffering simulator that neglects fun" / "they avoided the actual fun part of this sort of game".

But some games are amazing, Sea of Solitude was worth a month's subscription, easily. Exo One, similarly. But Recompile? I would have asked for my money back if I'd paid for that, regardless of its beautiful graphics. Or, The Ascent - borderline unplayable on a controller.

What I have done is played games all the way through on Gamepass, then bought them as they left so I could replay - WWZ, Sable, Sniper Elite 4...

But if you're not playing different games every month, then it kind of doesn't make sense. For me, its all about dollars and sense, and with costs going up everywhere I needed to decide where is my money going.

I took a long hard look at what games I play, what I do differently and basically found that by and large I was wasn't taking advantage of it. I play a handful of games and that's it. YMMV, but for my usage its better to put that money back in my pocket.

I tried GamePass. I found it boring. I like buying games. I want to finish games at my own pace. But gamepass is good for trying out games for me imo.

It's a 8/10 service.

Well the price is the difference between Live Gold, and Gamepass, so the on-demand demos isn't the full price, but also I look at it as amortising the retail purchase price of all the games that never leave gamepass.

But we may have different gaming habits - i pick up a new game every month or so, play it till it's finished or boing, then go back to my "continual play" games, so for me the service is worth it at its current price.

Been playing Atomic Heart, it’s a good and different game, tricky too. Like it though and it’s on Game Pass. And this has made me sell my Steam Deck, not on this site though, but I just found myself looking at my Deck thinking it’s cool, but never actually playing it much. So it’s off to a new home. I need the cash anyway, hopefully it’s off to a good home with whoever buys it.

I just find myself all the time sitting in front of my telly and grabbing my Xbox controller for my gaming kicks. It’s just so much easier to use, I may get the new Switch model when it’s out as my portable machine.
Personally I’m loving Game Pass still.

Atomic Heart is basically a Bioshock clone. The voice acting is too canned and corny for my taste but I will still play it since it's on Game Pass. My current game is another clone Wo Long which is a Nioh clone, set in China.

Having played some of Atomic Heart, it's not really a bio shock clone, it is give it a mid rating. It's alright. The voice acting is a bit OTT and a few swear words too think are a bit pointless and added in to try for effect. Still it's fun enough.

IMO, it really is right down to the story. Bioshock 1950's utopian world that goes awry. Atomic Heart, 1950's cars with Soviet Union references built around a utopian world that goes awry. AH uses robots instead of crazed enemies in Bioshock that want to kill you. In Bioshock Infinite you see flying cars. AH also has flying cars expected they are transported via robots.

I'm not saying AH is a bad game. I have enjoyed the game play a lot but every time I play it, I get the, i've played this before in another setting.

If anything it really gets me excited for the System Shock remake that is supposed to be coming this month.

Yeah, i've read stories both good and bad regarding the development. I hope it turns out great, both SS and SS2 were games well ahead of their time. Over the years they gained a cult like following. I remember playing the original SS back in 1995 and was floored by the game, story and atmosphere.

I just finished watching Starfield Direct. I didn't know what to expect and am glad that MS did a throughout showcase.

Space games are a blue ocean with big barriers to entry. It's understandable why Bethesda and MS are doubling down on the same as no one has developed a throughout space game. Visually the game is stunning and the level of detail across planets, ships, avatars, weapons and abilities is astonishing.

However, Starfield comes across as a space-based Metaverse rather than a game that you emotionally attach to, have fun playing, seek humour in, or ask a friend to join in on. I worry that it might be too big and complex with a steep learning curve. Some open-world games are becoming too big for their own good.

The big plus side is that it will be on gamepads. Therefore there is no risk associated with giving it a go. Just subscribe to gamepass for a month and you will be good :)

Where did this come from? Some things like Edith 512GB sounds like they are talking about Xbox Series S but that had codename Lockhart.
