I had high hopes that Halo infinite was going to usher us into next gen gaming, howeber it visually looks like a previous gen game.
Respectfully, everything you just said is completely inaccurate reference your previous Gen comment. Have you even watched any of the game play of Infinite? There’s one particular small YouTube channel (UnitedG), is a lead beta tester for multiple platforms and had early access to Infinite, and has been posting videos, and if anything, it’s complete opposite of what you said, the game looks amazingly detailed, extremely fluid and there’s absolutely no stutter jagger with rendering.

Keep in mind, it’s not just about the graphics, that the sound quality and lighting has made a huge difference, especially when when you’re playing in an arena, which tends to be darker.

Take two minutes and look at this video, and there’s no way you can say it looks like a previous GEN game. Nobody that’s an experienced gamer would say that, especially in 4K.

Yes. I have watched Halo Infinite gameplay. However I will reserve my final judgement until campaign footage is available or until I have played it via gamepass.

Rachet and Clank Rift Apart is probably the only PS5 or Series X game that has made my jaw drop. The dimensions, lighting, shadows, animations, physics and draw distance are utterly spectacular. It's a big generational leap from any PS4 or XBO game.

I would be curious to see it side by side with a One X (I assume DF will make a video). Let’s see what the cross-gen differences are.

Gamepass is a gift that keeps giving. Easily the most bang for buck amongst my subscriptions after youtube premium.

I feel like I signed up at the perfect time too a month ago, same weekend as 2nd flight of Halo infinite beta.

What a blast.

Got the BF2042 beta early and without preorder
should have 10 hours of BF2042 'early access' now
Forza Horizon 5 is awesome so far, played a bit of 4 before this released in anticipation
Didnt play much of Back4Blood but I 'got' it too

it goes on and and on and on.

Series S is an amazing secondary machine to my PS5.

Pretty new to console gaming but I purchased an XBOX Series S less than a fortnight ago to have some fun on this Winter, although reluctantly as there was no X stock in the UK, but yesterday I gave in and purchased a Series X after a stock drop. I really wasnt happy with the limited 360GB SSD on the S and the overpriced digital games to go along with it - at least I can buy physical games 20-30% cheaper for the X. Looking forward to picking it up next week!

Welcome to the disc verification club!

Has anyone given this a play yet?
Yes! It’s extraordinary, isn’t it? Apparently everything bar the mirror image of ‘real’ Keanu, which is a video clip, is generated in realtime. I thought it was over after the car chase scene, but then they drop you in a city you can walk and fly around… I’ve never been so impressed by a demo, it’s just amazing to think they can do this on a console. The most convincing graphics I’ve ever seen.

Some screenshots I took:

Xbox games are not actually overpriced. There are frequent themed deals by genre or publisher. This sometimes allow you to buy games older than 6 months at 50-80% discount.

If you a lucky, a game that you fancy might even be added to gamepass, making it cheaper to pay for a 1month subscription to complete the game and then play something else.

Who here remembers the E3 that the original Xbox One was announced?
Has anyone noticed that Microsoft has basically done what they announced back then? (Or are pretty close to it)

GamePass is like their original vision of a digital era, actually realized.

How so? From that E3 I remember the big talking points being always-on Kinect, 'snapping' apps alongside your games, live TV integration, no backwards compatibility, blocking resale of used discs.

They have abandoned every single one of those things.

haha maybe my revisionist memory of things I thought 'always connected' had some perk wasn't just a consumer restriction but perhaps you're right

Yeah, their always online thing was always checking DRM on your discs, and the plan was that you could only resell them to stores where they'd charge a fee for transferring the licence. Sony countered with a demo of how to trade PS4 games (put disc in box, sell it).

I don't think there was a single positive story from those early Xbox One days. There was even a patent for Kinect counting how many people were in the room, so it could charge higher rates for movies / sports, etc.

In a pretty direct way, their focus on terrible TV stuff rather than games meant they had to use a chip that was comprehensively outperformed by the PS4. It was a complete disaster.

Yeah. Now that I am looking back you are right. They had some pretty silly ideas. Though with their GamePass push I can see them decide to drop direct game sales in favor of subscriptions.

Remember 'the power of the cloud' as well? To cover up the fact they'd produced a massively underpowered console, that was 25% more expensive than the competition, they insisted that games would be able to offload processing to distant servers. They showed a demo of a building collapsing in Crackdown 3 and said it was only possible due to the almighty cloud. It was complete nonsense.

We're lucky Microsoft didn't just shut down the Xbox division a few years ago. From Xbox One to Game Pass is quite a turnaround.

Then again they are leveraging cloud computing (lol) for Flight Simulator ??‍♂️
