Apple development tool Xcode seemingly confirms the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus each have 2GB of RAM, while the iPad Pro has 4GB of RAM, as discovered by iOS developer Hamza Sood.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have long been rumored to have 2GB of RAM. Meanwhile, Adobe issued a Creative Cloud press release earlier this week that stated the iPad Pro had 4GB of RAM, but removed the mention just hours later.

As usual, Apple itself did not mention how much RAM the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus or iPad Pro have during its "Hey Siri" media event, nor does it include RAM on the tech spec pages for any of the devices.

Any idea about the iPad Mini 4 RAM?

Keep in mind, before the "wowz it took soo long" wave comes in...

I'd love to see 4 GB RAM across the board next year for iOS – iPhone 7/7 Plus, iPad Air 3, iPad Mini 5, iPad Pro 2. Not holding my breath on it but one can dream!

Why is Apple so secretive about RAM? It makes no sense to me. Everyone finds out anyway; they may as well just list it in the specs.

Because Apple doesn't want shoppers comparing it to other smartphones, that have less efficient OS' and thus need more RAM. Unfortunately to the average shopper, "more is value."

I think the real reason they don't advertise RAM is because they do more with less and they don't want to introduce a spec that 'looks' smaller than the Android phones. If they had advertised 1GB of RAM, a typical consumer may have seen that as a weakness side by side in a comparison with an Android phone.

They tend to only advertise specs when it is comparative or looks better than other devices on the market. It's a good approach, as it is really hard to make someone understand that 2GB on an iPhone is more than likely just as good as 3GB on another phone.

LOL You do know the goal posts will move again, right? There will just be complaining that they don't have 4GiB RAM now.

At least we can go without for like 6 months right?

I think the reason why Apple doesn't announce ram is because its not comparable to any other device on the market, so its largely irrelevant. If they started people would, obviously, start directly comparing with Android phones (and yeah, I know some do already) the best was the time I saw someone demanding 6gb of ram for the iPhone without even a hint of irony.

You will miss the screen.

I have a feeling I will too. Loved the 6Plus screen, although it was a bit big for me to use with one hand. I have fairly large hands, too. I guess I do have the 14 day option to exchange, albeit for an additional 35.00 re-stocking fee.

Because RAM is somehow irrelevant to the way Apple marketed their product. They just say it works like a butter and it works, they don't want to put more which is obviously business wise it's profitable for the company. They don't want the competition or store associates saying this and that therefore it's better, there a truth to it but not always. I do like my device to have more RAM though and future proofing for an updated OS or application couple years down the road. I'm glad that iPhone 6s has more RAM which I'm always interested people like me but most of the consumers don't care.

So the we totally left this out last year so that we could sell you this phone bit yeahhhhh. I am getting a little tired of that kinda stuff from apple. 3d touch ok that is new and was not really ready when you made the 6, however you clearly could have dropped in another gig of ram on the 6 line from the start. This is just 80's GM all over it. Hey lets make sure we have something held back so we can sell them a micro upgrade that will make there lives so much better. So we do that now or make them buy another phone. The answer buy more phones ugh

I was on the fence about getting rid of my 6 plus for a 6s plus. But with 2gb ram I'm sold.

But I'm undecided on what color to get. I have already silver but I want that rose gold but those bands at distracting.

With the iPad pro having 4gb ram they could have put OS X on it.

I am going from a iPhone 6 Plus to a iPhone 6S. Anyone else doing this? Not sure if I will regret it or not. Any reason why I would, other than screen size???
2GB of RAM is great news.

I think you will regret it. I had a iPhone 6 plus for 5 months before getting a s6 edge. I used my s6 edge exclusively for two months and the screen still seemed too small to me after that. So winded up going back to my iPhone 6 plus for primary phone. Now keep in mind s6 edge is slightly larger than the iPhone 6 4.7 screen. So I couldn't imagine having something so small.

After having that large 5.5 display its hard to go back to something smaller. I know it's easy for some.

If one handed operation is a main priority for you, then go for it.

Yep

S6 edge is too small for me...can't wait for my plus to arrive

No it never will. If you're a developer/power user you would know. We rely heavily on using the terminal and being able to have tons of windows open at once. iOS is not suited for all of that. Not to mention it runs on a completely different architecture CPU. ARM processors are far too weak for power users and years and year of development have gone into Mac OS X. They are completely different ballparks. Don't compare apples to oranges.

I know, but at this development speed ,Apple will have an arm based desktop/laptop soc that will surpass Intel based desktop and laptops cpu' s (about 180?? % increase from A7 to a9x). This a9x already dishes current Intel M cpu' s.
In 2 years the current 12 inch MacBook will be arm based, with arm based OSX.
The current iPad pro will pave the way to develop the apps for it.
And further develop of the smart connector, will enable Apple to develop powerful hybrids.

It won' t be able to compete with workstation cpu' s in 2 years, but in 6 years it will.
X-86 for consumers is dying.
