This has to stop. This really hurts the economy.
Nah it doesn't. I think they don't sell in the USA for this reason.
I think it mainly hurts Xiaomi, and I don't get at all why they're doing this.
Here in Asia they're big, and they're kinda Apple-themed... they make everything in white, their retail stores are a homage to Apple stores, they make nice phones and computers for cheap... but out of the Xi range, maybe less than 10% is 1:1 Apple copies... I didn't see any phones that were Apple clones, other than well they have a huge screen and a notch which is basically true for every single new phone hitting the market.
They're competing well with Huawei and Samsung and Oppo and some other chinese brands.
Their penchant for ripping off Apple ad campaigns and product designs is bizarre to me. They don't need to. They have other products that Apple doesn't even have, they have phones that don't look like Apple phones, and as far as I can tell their flagship phones aren't Apple rip offs.
This is just weird. "Because we can"?? Seems like a crap strategy if you ask me.
Xiaomis flagship phone is called the Redmi. And today I saw some very cheap very nice phones called "Realme"... a whole new brand. From China. The rip off artists getting ripped off? Coincidence? IDK.
I was phone hunting in the mall for my mom and honestly the biggest danger to Apple right now is how super cheap Android phones - $150-$200 - have huge beautiful screens, are running the latest Android, have 32 or 64GB. These are really nice phones. For $100 you get a really nice looking phone too, but somewhat lower specs - still looks nice enough that the difference between that $100 Android and the $1,100 XS Max is less than 10%, visually. Not all that much. Even as of last year, this wasn't true, but I feel we reached a peak phone turning point at this time.

Why do they all have brown eyes? No blue or green eyes in sight.
Ummm... it's China, hello?!
