Yeah, just your typical “morally bankrupt company stealing a competitor’s effective, expensive and well-produced marketing ads” situation. Nothing to see here, no big deal, happens all the time.

Wait....

In China this kinda **** DOES happen all the time.

Lawsuit in 3.2.1.
No lawsuit. That won't happen.

As far as quality is concerned, I'm all for copying best practice and then implementing them. If Xiaomi is Apple's copycats then it's for the better. I wish Samsung and Sony copied some facets of Apple "Magic" that, in turn, would copy Samsung's and Sony's inventions and blend them with Apple's fine touch philosophy. If indeed Xiaomi is capable of doing so, I applaud and am ready to become their customer.

Is anyone really shocked at this?

That China steals and copies due to their lack of innovation and low end tech? Like I said before nothing good ever comes out of China except for door knobs and toilet seats but only because its cheap (borderline) slave labor.

Yes, they copy and steal this is nothing new but its because they don't have the technology or creative engine to develop these kind of things. But also what people should understand is that these "new" tech that comes out from companies like Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Huawei, etc etc like under the display camera or under the display finger print sensor...these tech have been around for a very long time by companies like Samsung and Apple and more.

The difference is that these big companies did not implement it to their devices to not sacrifice UX. But these low end Chinese companies have nothing to lose, they race to be the first and put out half baked (already existing) features with TONS of compromises. Literally no one thinks they're ahead of the curve with tech but I guess they have nothing to lose so they try to change this perception on a global scale which will not work.

Chinese companies = cheap, cost cutting, poor quality, low end tech, copying, stealing, patent theft, government owned, government backed, government funded, spyware, bribery, etc etc the list goes on and on.

This is how they survive and try very hard to convince the world that they are somehow technically equal to companies like Apple and Samsung who actually produces high tech, innovation driven features and products without blatant stealing, copying on the Chinese's level.

ALL of Chinese produced tech came from assets created/brought by American tech companies. After a certain time period, these assets get "taken" by the Chinese government and these American companies are NOT allowed to re-take them because this is the law over there. Its a policy. One of many reasons why companies are leaving China in droves.

After the assets get taken, the Chinese tech companies get access to them and everything that comes with it. China does ZERO research and development. Wonder why they copy everything and nothing new comes out? Because they are only technically advanced as the last frozen assets left by the American tech companies. This is a backbone of their survival tactics.

When companies comes out of China (and YES it WILL happen eventually) China's economy will suffer immensely but at least they have to create their own tech perhaps? Do more research and development of their own? Time will tell.

They're both so ugly and tacky IMO that I honestly wouldn't have noticed the difference

Apparently Xiaomi is the same as I am

It’s the chinese companies nature to blatantly copy everything without caring of what the law will say. Xiaomi is really a hardcore version of Samsung.

Accident, yeah. If you're going to infringe on copyrights and patents, I would pick a company other than Apple. They're not used to people checking them on this stuff.

I'm surprised at how many people are talking about lawsuits. Do you think the Chinese government is going to uphold any sort of verdict from US (or even international) courts? We're talking about a country that is building islands in international waters and then claiming everything within 15 miles of them to be sovereign territory.

Samsung = Copycat 1.0 (beta)

Xiaomi = Copycat 2.0.2
And Apple never copy anything? https://www.macrumors.com/2019/07/05/apple-foldable-ipad-with-5g/

Why are Chinese companies so lazy they can’t design their own stuff.
Why are people surprised when production of everything is sent offshore and then the people in those countries learn from that and apply that knowledge to their own products? That's not lazeness. It's an incredibly sensible way to build your economy.
