I wonder how many people complain about the XR screen and haven’t even seen it in person. I went today and compared it to my XS Max and saw very little difference. The most noticeable difference to me was the XS Max video which was slightly more detailed. The XR was slightly warmer. Unless you put them side by side I think it would be difficult for the average person to notice a big difference. The XR screen is beautiful. I did notice the bezel being bigger but, the more I used the phone the less I noticed.

I'd have to agree. I recently got a XS still in the return period. I went in to check the XR today and could not notice a significant difference between the screens. Yes, if I sat there and looked for the differences, it would be obvious. But for my on the go lifestyle and occasional video watching while stationary, it seems like I won't notice the difference as much. The XR seemed to have an excellent LCD with vibrant colors and I did not notice any blurry text.

The biggest decision for me now is whether the telephoto lens and OLED is worth the extra ~$12/mo (iUP) for me. Otherwise, the XR seemed like an excellent in my first impressions. The extra screen viewing width and battery life are a great compromise too. The phone did not feel as cumbersome as my old iPhone 7 Plus or the XS Max.

Picked up a blue Xr today. Honestly I’ve not been this in love with a phone since the 4.

It’s just gorgeous. The blue is perfect. I love the screen size. The feel. Speed. Everything.

Not 100% on Face ID but I’ll get used to it.

For me personally apple knocked it out of the park with this one.

I would say the only major difference between x and xr is the black level
It’s quite noticeable in no light environment

But who watches movies extensively on a phone?

Me for one. I have a lot of downtime between jobs and carrying around an iPad isn't practical as I have to catch trains and walk.

I know my use case isn't normal for many people in the states (outside of New York and maybe Chicago), but in Asia I'd say it's a pretty normal experience to use your phone as your main entertainment device.

The only problem with XR is its sub 1080p screen.
I played with the XR today, directly left of it was an 8 Plus and XS Max on right. The XR screen looks no worse than the 8+. In fact it looked great. Compared to the XS Max, what immediately popped was the inky black from the OLED of the XS Max, no surprise there.

I criticized the XR of it being below 1080p in another thread. While true, in actual use (as in with the phone at normal viewing distance) I really couldn't tell the difference.

I think the XR will be the hit this cycle. If I wasn't using the X myself (from launch last year), I'll be tempted to buy the XR.

OLED is expensive. Most OLED TV's are like 3k and up, have you noticed?
I'm glad to have it in my pocket for much less lol.

Depends on the size. 55” can be had for like $1300-1500 depending on sale. I actually paid less for my OLED 2 years ago then my Max this year. Haha

It's not a problem... Don't get drawn into the pixel debate... Go look at it. I had the 8+, compared them last night before trading it in this morning... I literally couldn't tell the difference... I know that putting both on 50% brightness, the Xr was brighter... At least to my and my wife's eye...

The Xr is a great phone!

Its great. Ive been comparing it non-stop with my X and it more than holds its own. Im also getting about double wifi speed on the XR vs X but Im not sure why.

The screen looks fantastic and is a total non-issue.

My fav thing about it is the size, it really is the perfect mid-size , vs the X and Max.

Agreed, I also love the size. Tad smaller than the 6s plus and easier pocket.

Apple gave us some choices! Granted not everyone is happy with all things but isn’t it great to have a choice? I wanted a max but my husband (and even I balked at the price) the XR served as a more reasonable compromise, my carrier waived my upgrade fee & had a great sale on Speck cases. Coming from the 6S Plus the XR is a beast in terms of speed, smoothness & oh good lord, the battery life is amazing

Isn’t it great to have choices?

Day two and I’m still impressed. Face ID is getting stronger as well. I think it improves over time/use?

But the screen is still great and the phone size is getting easier to me.

Now I need a nice apple leather case and I’m good to go for a couple years.

Tried the camera today and it’s great too.

Oh - and the speakers sound pretty dang amazing.

Keep enjoying your new phones everyone!
