iPhone XR XR is great

I think the screen is pretty good, I would have liked 1080 but I think it's more the spec nerd. I have a S8+ as well and yes there is a difference in sharpness but it's not like the difference between say the original iphones and the iphone 4 which was a massive difference. I almost never watch videos on my phone, I use it for messaging taking snapshots, mapping, music and calendars and for that the extra battery life is for me more important than a higher resolution screen
I’ve been rocking an iPhone X for the last year. I originally upgraded to the Xs Max which I found too big so I sent that back and waited for the xr.
I received my XR on Friday and so far am very very impressed. I got that bit of a bigger screen I wanted but easier to handle in comparisons the XS Max.
It’s fast and the battery life so far seems very very good.
As for screen, I’m not seeing a massive difference at all between my X and my XR. If anything it’s only the blacks.
I’m over the moon with my XR and I feel this whole display gate has been ridiculous!

Honestly ever since my first iPhone (the 3G) I wanted a blue iPhone. I know there was a blue 5c but I already had the 5 so wasn’t buying again.
I honestly love this phone. I’ve not been wowed by an iPhone since the 4. But I love this Xr.
An iPhone X owner myself (since launch), with no intention of upgrading my phone for a few years yet, but I was curious to see the XR in the flesh, so called into my local Apple store today to take a look. After reading some of the comments on MacRumors over the past few days, I was expecting to see a phone that had a disappointing screen & which was overly large (with bezels which were too big/ugly)...just shows how misleading comments can be. In the flesh, the XR is a really, really nice phone. The screen looked great & the bezel size is only fractionally larger than the X/XS (unless making a direct side by side comparison, or if unaware of the precise measurements, I doubt most people would even notice that XR had larger bezels than X/XS)
Interestingly, my X is protected in an official Apple Leather case. I placed my X (in case) against the XR & the two were practically the same foot print (XR only very fractionally taller), but the increased screen size on the XR was noticeable. If I was brave enough to use a phone without a case, I think XR would be a great phone for me.
In terms of color, I thought that the White XR with the silver aluminium frame was the nicest XR. Always go for Space Grey myself, but visually, the Silver Aluminium frame on the XR gives the phone a more streamlined look IMO.

It is a great phone! I have an 8+ and spent a long time setting up my (adult) daughter's Xr. It's gorgeous! What impresses me is that, like my 8+, it just "disappears." That is, one's focus becomes the content and one's actions, not the phone.
As for Face ID, she brought it into the kitchen and said, "Look at my phone!" which I did and of course it did not unlock. She was laughing because she said Face ID worked so fast she thought it was broken . . . .
Just curious - do you notice a difference on battery life between XR and Max? I’m loving XR battery but just curious if it’s noticeably better than Max
i have both; nothing appreciably different, more than comfortable wiggle room by bedtime (6am to midnight days). any small differences will likely be if you’re a light user and want to squeeze a second day out of either.
