I have a iPhone X right now and ordered yesterday the iPhone XR in product red. The XS would not feel like a new phone to me and i want the better camera now and not wait for the end of the year for the new iPhone XI.
Here in the U.S. I see a lot of them, but our prices and structure are different than there....
Ultimately, Apple will not compete on price, certainly not on higher-end models. They will probably price the 'Xr successor' sensibly to maintain the user base.
The sales of higher-end models will depend on new elements they bring to the phone.
I think as long as Apple and observers understand that the XS line is a premium/niche product with a much smaller market appeal then it doesn’t matter. We seem to have assumptions it should be their top selling iPhone ‘because it’s the best’ but demand has changed as far as I can see. The days of every iPhone user demanding the best device seem to be numbered as the range has expanded and there are more affordable models available.Ultimately, Apple will not compete on price, certainly not on higher-end models. Tim Cook said where they will compete, and that will be with ‘Services and trade-in programs’. There is no doubt that I believe Apple will be discussing how they are revamping trade-ins starting in fall 2019 for those upgrading to newer iPhones. Will they reduce their prices drastically? No. But they will try to incentivize the customer to upgrade to a newer device.
Don't forget, in Tim's eyes, the cost is $1 a day - It is just that the number of days between upgrades is now higher. With a 750 million user base, once-in-three years still gives plenty of sales. Will they reduce their prices drastically? Going forward, as long as the base is retained with sensible 'Xr' prices, they can gouge at the higher-end if there are new features on offer
I think you’re absolutely right. I don’t think Cook would have said in a recent interview that Apple were looking at ways to bring costs down on their iPhones if they hadn’t recognised that it was an issue at a consumer level or planned to pass on this on to us.Come Fall 2019, I don’t think the iPhone will be the major part of the keynote, I think the pricing structure will be. And ultimately Apple has re-strategize their logic based on how they want the consumer to upgrade, considering that the largest part of Apple‘s revenue is the iPhone, hardware is only superficial to the consumer, they don’t see the changes that others do on here, it will take way more effort to provoke customers to want to upgrade with those price points.
Wish Tim puts money where his mouth is and starts cutting Xs Max prices nowI don’t think Cook would have said in a recent interview that Apple were looking at ways to bring costs down on their iPhones if they hadn’t recognised that it was an issue at a consumer level or planned to pass on this on to us.

The XR line is their main product going forward I would say and they need to focus more on maintaining its appeal both in price and what it can offer. Stifling it in terms of features in an attempt to push consumers towards spending more than they want to doesn’t work and hasn’t.
Why do you think the XS is a better option if keeping for 2-3 years compared to the XR? I think both phones and even an iPhone 8 Series iPhone is good enough for a few years yet personally. If you are planning to keep it 2-3 years then go with the Xs.
Yeah...I prefer OLED, esp. since the screen offers true HDR content which is night and day, but I don't agree with their pricing strategy at all. I think they got cocky because the iPX statistically sold very well, but many of those customers are likely satisfied and paying their phones off still. That said, I think all iPhones look premium and I'm sad my iP6S+ died otherwise I wouldn'tve upgraded at all. I miss my headphone jack! I didn't upgrade cause of that till this point and I didn't want to use a dongle. Many lose the dongle, and wired headphones still provide the best audio quality. I have wireless too, but I like my wired headphones as well.
I removed all the music from my iPhone once I bought an 8+ as I’ve found I’m listening to music less these days and it’s partly due to the amount of times I’ve forgotten to keep the dongle with me. I just rely on amazon music now if ever I do fancy listening to music on my phone.
I’m not seeing the benefit of OLED yet as it currently carries a premium price so I’m happy to live without it until it’s affordable. It wouldn’t bother me if my next iPhone in 2 years time had an LCD to be honest.
