I was experiencing issues as well. I was looking at returning my phone. Did a factory reset using iTunes and it seems to have fixed the issue in the first 24 hrs. I did notice that once updated I was prompted for carrier settings update as well so hopefully that fixes everything with LTE and WiFi.

I would suggest everyone try it if having issues.

I am guessing (but I would love to be wrong here) that the issue will come back. There does not seem to be a fix that holds yet in my experience.

Welp, so much for the Apple tech. He basically emailed me this morning saying they don't want any of the data I collected yesterday.....essentially don't waste my time gathering/testing.

Oh well.....who needs fast internet downloads anyway

So out of the blue got another call from the Apple tech I worked with before, asking if I would be willing to send more logs. Wonder if they are getting reports of people still having issues?

Anyway, got him some more logs (between my Max and my iPad) and he was very nice. He did mention however, that Apple will look at this from the standpoint of "does this effect the user and how they use the device". So while I'm a geek and can see that my XS Max will go between 2.4 and 5 with varying speeds of 70Mbps to 290Mbps.....unless this was actually impacting what I'm doing, they may look at this differently. I told him, in a way he's right......checking email or browsing the web doesn't need 290Mbps down. However, trying to download a movie from iTunes, I'd really like it to be using that faster speed.

Regardless, I'm hoping they are able to see that older devices are still working better at attaching to those faster speeds.

FYI, if you are one that has flat out WiFi dropouts....I would recommend contacting @Applesupport on twitter to let them know and hopefully a tech will contact you to get more data. I don't have those dropouts, just the slightly slower speeds when on 2.4 while other devices stay on 5.

They want logs for me but honestly I’m pretty burned out on this issue. On my third XS (as I’ve already mentioned) and just don’t want to spend more time on helping Apple fix an issue they should have caught in preliminary testing and one they can still catch by trying a couple phones from their own inventory.

Yeah, I was hesitant....but he said he only really needed one set of data so I did it.

I have been turned off by this as well, and told him that overall I understand what he's talking about....but I don't think it's right. This is the flagship Apple device right now and it simply doesn't perform as well as older devices.

Are you going to keep with it or return?
