Xtra large iPhone = :(

This is soo true. I went camping last month with some friends and we forgot our raft. Luckily, one of them had a Nexus S and we were able to spend the day on the water. It was a blast!

Hahahaha oh my... Maybe I'm just too tired, but that made me laugh

Did I actually say that you said you wanted a Samsung Note? No? Didn't think so, but then again misreading posts was always a big part of the things you say. Please don't make things up any more.

You said I wanted a device with a display the size of the Note. Since so other device like this exists, I used the Note itself for comparison. I figured you could make that connection yourself, sadly I was wrong.

You were creaming over the Samsung Note and how it was a good size for most peoples pockets.

I hate this weak argument of "it's too big for pockets" I just checked and this phone is narrower than my wallet, which fits perfectly fine in my somewhat tight jeans. With girls/womens pants I see the problem, but there's the same problem with all other phones. What pant do people wear with these minuscule pockets?

I get that the phone is big, but it's not too big for the majority of pockets.

I'm not sure many people would agree though, walking around with a 5" crossover tablet in their pocket, but I guess that because you think it's OK, it must be for everybody, right?

Yeah, there's no doubt that this isn't for everyone, but I'd happily give it a try. I think it may be a bit large even for me but I find it interesting that Samsung is offering such a wide range of sizes to try cater to everyone, I think that's a great way to try meet everyone's needs. I think this would be a great phone for someone who wants a smartphone and tablet but cant afford both, a convergence device of sorts.

Like I said before, this phone is definitely not for everyone. That said, I still think it looks fine held up to his head, and for some the screen size would be a worthy trade-off for ridicule during a phonecall.

Really dude, why do you try put words in my mouth?

Right, but I never said that YOU said that, which is what you accused me of. FFS, are you unable to comprehend facts?

Well if I didn't say in in some shape or form how did you reach that conclusion, because you sure as hell aren't psychic

I agree with the OP although I won't mind if the screen is a bit bigger than the current size. I am mainly concerned with good reception and good battery, which I think are key to usability. I also want a white LED indicator a la Blackberry.

Seriously?

Seriously. Do you make a habit of making wild assumptions about people and then spreading these assumptions as facts? I'll be waiting for an apology for the lies you've told about me.

EDIT: Back on topic; a 4" iPhone wouldn't be much larger assuming they reduce the bezel around the display. With only a minor increase in size (probably not even noticeable to most) they could easily put in a bigger display.

Ahhh, the good-old forum "facts vs. assumptions" argument, always a good fall-back position for when you know the battle is over. Based on your attitude and behaviour towards myself in previous posts, you'll be waiting alright.

Why are you harping on about a 4" screen when you clearly said you want a 4.3" screen?

Can't you guys just finish the fight? Duke it out like they do in Star Trek

I'm the only one of the two of us who's posted anything that could be considered a fact, backed by evidence. You just make random accusation after random accusation and ignore anything that proves you wrong. It's not a battle, it's a discussion, relax. As for my attitude and behaviour towards you, let's not forget that you brought me up in the first place and lied about my wants. I don't like people lying about me and tried to make my actual wants clear, simple as that.

Because that's why the OP was about. The big hint was when I said "back on topic". Just because I want a 4.3" screen doesn't mean it's a possibility for the next iPhone.

LOL that's like bad tv wrestling :D I'm not much of a fighter though.

I wonder if Apple had first released an iPhone that had a 3 inch screen, would people be saying that 3.5 inches is too big and a 3 inch screen is "IMHO perfect"?
Damn, you got this crowd pegged. When Apple finally gets around to releasing a 4" screen, they'll be saying the same thing about that too.

There needs to be atleast two versions of the iPhone.. I don't know when it might happen, but I expect it to. There's the people that want something phones small and there's the people that want them "huge" There are some in-between people, but they're the minority.

Apple needs a 4.5-5" phone with a high resolution, for the big-phone people, and a 3.5-inch phone for everyone else. 4" is too small to satisfy most people looking for big phones. There are 4.5" phones out, and 4.7" and 5.3" phones coming soon. 4" is not even a good middle ground. The phones either got to be big or small.

And some of you will respond to this with things like "phones are just going to get bigger and bigger and more like tablets" but you have to realize there's a limit to what even the biggest pant pocket can hold. For most, a 5.3-inch phone would barely fit. So I don't see this as being a problem.

Again, my point of this post, is that there's just got to be 2 sizes or no one will be happy. Please tell me someone else here thinks there's sense to my argument?

No sense at all.

If Apple went with 3.5" and all the other manufacturers stuck to 3.5", almost everybody with an iPhone would be happy. However, because larger screens exist on other phones, they want it because they don't have it. It's pathetic. Who the hell wants to walk around with a phone boasting a 5" or even 4.5" screen in their pocket?

The argument of 4" is too small for people who want a large phone, and thus too large for people who want a small phone is also ridiculous.

Couldn't agree more. Anyone thinking over 4" is too big has either never tried it or can't conceive of a person my size. Clothes aren't 1-size-fits-all, so how come its accepted that phones are? Madness I tell you :D

So go and buy an Android... Or maybe Apple really should make a 3.5", 4", 4.5" and 5" iPhones just to please the otherwise unpleasable, or even better, make each phone to order to a customers specific requirements?

Funny thing is, every time my friend pulls out his droid / android phone I have to laugh because it is so big and looks silly. I sure hope I won't be in the same boat soon. I could see a slightly larger screen if they could reduce the border bevel size and compromise of the overall phone size.

They must be boys with small hands... And we all know what they say about those with small hands :D

All joking aside.. I am all for the larger screen.. In any case.. there's plenty of choice elsewhere...

S. Jobs said that people don't know what they want until you show it to them... I think there he was wrong.

I would if I hadn't made such an investment in the app store. Maybe even a WP7 device. You're the only one mentioning more than 2 models, so that's not something we really need to discuss. I'm talking about a big model and a small model. As unlikely as it would be, it would be a nice option to have.

I'm fine with the current size, it works fine on everything I do, so I don't need a bigger screen. Whatever Apple come out with I do hope there is an option for people who like the current screensize.

Honestly 4" is to large for many people.
While a 4" screen won't stop me from buying one, it may stop my wife. The current iPhone 4 is already larger than is comfortable for her.
Fortunately it looks like there may be two iPhones coming; a 4s with basically the form factor of the current 4 and then the true 5.
Hopefully the specs will be similar on the two phones, allowing users to choose based upon their individual needs.
