when i try to export an album via aperture, it says full resolution is available for flickr pro only...

is this just something that aperture needs an update for?

Yes. They have only updated Flickr overnight. Plugins and bits and bobs like that will need updating.

In the meantime can you not just create a custom export template?

Long time no see!

It has been a long time since I was so excited about a website. I had almost forgotten how much I used Flickr in the past.

I want so badly for Flickr to rise. Even if it is Microsoft behind. The world needs more big players fighting to give us more freedom of choice instead capturing users into a unique ecosystem.

If I understand well this is 49$ per year 1TB and 499$ per year 2TB? Need more coffe?

No, it's 49 dollars to remove the ads, 499 dollars for removing the ads and an extra TB.

See, very, very few users with free accounts will reach 1 TB, they most likely won't even reach the double digits GB, and I'm guessing only a handful will reach the 100 GB mark. So to compare free vs. pro in this way is a bit odd...

The only ones who will need that amount of space will be professionals, companies and such. To them, 500 dollars for 2 TB of cloud storage combined with a decent way of showing off portfolios etc. is nothing.

It’s really Great news for Paid Flickr users, not for unpaid users. Unpaid Flickr users still cannot upload more than 200 photos. When unpaid users want to upload more than 200 photos then Flickr start to remove all the previous photos.
Source?

Jesus every user gets a TB? That's insane.

smart. the whole reason i switched to gmail was because they offered 1GB storage. (back in 2005, when 1GB was a lot...)

so i can upload 200 5GB photos? sweet.

So nothing changes...not a problem...plus the resolution and file size increases dramatically and the interface upgrade is great...So everyone wins...essentially.

I honestly think that the paid users got very little on this update.
As a supporter from the early days, I must say I'm very disappointed.

I think you may be wrong. Can you show where that is still the case?

I will say that flickr right now is slow as **** and basically not useable for me.

Yahr

Flickr, Tumblr, Doublr? How about changing the company name to Yahr? Rhode Islanders who place Rs where they don't belong will adapt quickly.

I love the new layout! Its nice when stuff changes occasionally, the old layout wasnt as good as a gallery system.

Over on flickr a lot of people hate it though.

Flickr and pro users

I love the new design, LOVE it. 1TB of storage is awesome. Funny as I just started back using Flickr a few weeks ago.

For Pro Users, the solution to your shafting is easy- CANCEL.

Write a nice letter complaining and cancel your pro account. That's what I would do.

pro users have two options:

1. cancel, yahoo! will give you a pro-rated refund of what you spent
2. keep your account on auto-renew, you will keep the benefits of the pro account for the same $25 (for now at least)

And still we can't download entire sets. If I want to download a group of photos, I have to do it one at a time with about five mouse-clicks per photo. I find that very ridiculous.

I think the API allows it, there are Lightroom plugins that allow you to sync your photos. You'll probably want to use some software to manage it anyway...

Current "Free" storage data caps at places like Google and Apple just are not enough. For a free Terabyte I will gladly use this as another "vault" to keep my family photos in.

Hardly. Pro users get ad-free Flickr for half price.

And stats, which are otherwise gone. That sucks majorly. I can't say I like the new design either, I understand they want to make it all about photos but the beauty of Flickr was in the community, and the current layout pretty much hides comments and the like. I guess the serious ones among us will still use it as before, but it's way too radical.

Anyway as I said, I'm mostly bummed about stats. At the same $25/yr as before I'll renew it, but the feeling of walking on eggshells about the fact that they may just turn off the stats at any random moment isn't pleasant at all, after having invested so much time into building my presence there. (I know, you shouldn't put trust into big companies and so on, but if I hosted my own portfolio I'd get very little community feedback... and that's why I love(d) Flickr.)

By the way, and if you were not on auto-renew you're out of luck, you're automatically demoted to free. Way to go, Yahoo! Blah.
