So now less than 7 days until this 'phantom launch' and no change in order status (2 weeks of 'processing'?, please!) , no charge to my card, no hold of funds on my card. It's almost as if Apple are unsure if they are going to have any watches at all.
Ok , slight exaggeration on my part but this entire launch feels weird and has lost all steam

Yawn - this topic has now been exhausted and is getting boring.

We are all waiting for it update, we are all excited and wanting to get our watches. Your impatience and moaning isn't helping anyone.

When it ships, it ships.

If you used Apple Pay you won't be getting a hold charge on your card because Apple Pay uses a token that can only be used once, the only charge you will see is once your order is ready to ship.

The next phase after "Processing" is "Preparing to Ship" and that won't happen until Monday or Tuesday.

I keep telling you guys.... this will be another long and painful week to come :D

Brace yourselfs.... more threads of this to come :D

How about - don't look at the order status page until 8th May which is the latest Apple have committed to deliver your watch by. If it doesn't arrive by then, call Apple. Apple have no obligation to satiate your impatience by updating order status pages.

That's a glitch, your order is stuck. What you need to do now is cancel your order and do it over and we'll all get ours faster.

Or, just wait and see what emails you get. Emails will be sent when status changes. Also, the Apple Store app will give notifications, if you have it set up.

There's no "mess".

Your watch hasn't shipped yet so you won't be charged. As soon as it's shipped, you'll be charged. It's not rocket science.

Given modern logistics, your status will change next week. It does not take 2 weeks to charge and prepare an order for shipment.

At least this way apple is giving you a chance to cancel it.

I guess you just want to know your exact delivery date?

Has it occurred to you that this kind of countermoaning is boring, too?

People are perfectly entitled to express how they feel on this forum. I suspect a lot of people feel like the OP and one way to deal with the frustration and uncertainty is to express it in posts such as this.

Maybe you're the one who should be avoiding the forums if threads such as this traumatise you so much.

And you get more interest with the money in your account, instead of apples ;)

Yes. This is hardly unreasonable.

Why uncertainty? Apple was provided a delivery date. If apple misses this date, yeah I understand this being a mess. Though how is this a mess, OPs words?

Apple is going to surprise a lot of folks when they begin shipping these out from U.S.-based distribution centers early next week.

Some orders will likely even be arriving before the 24th.

Relax.

A lot of people prefer to be at home when parcels are delivered. For some this requires some forward planning. No-one yet knows the precise date of delivery. Indeed, no-one knows anything more precise than a two-week window.

People's expectations are more precise. If I order from Amazon Prime I know my order is being delivered some time tomorrow.

If I order my groceries online I am given a one-hour delivery window.

Yes, this is a brand new product, blah, blah. But Apple is a huge, wealthy company that's had plenty of time to prepare for this launch.

From my experience when ordering on Amazon , for pre-orderes they do not always give an exact date of delivery.

Apple has never once guaranteed a specific delivery date for preorders before an item was shipped out, why are people bitching about it now?

Oh yes they have. Every preorder I have ever been involved with which has been many has always had a specific delivered by date. This is the first that the delivered by is a window of dates.

What if Apple surprises everyone by delivering all watches pre ordered on day 1 on the 24th loll...not possible but that will be amazing.

Here is what I read: "I don't trust myself to keep the funds in my bank account if Apple doesn't take the money out of my account right away."

That is my only gripe about it. However, if something goes wrong I'd rather Apple fix it before I get the watch rather than me having to walk into an Apple store to get a resolution. So if giving them some extra time to work out the bugs means I won't get a defective product then so be it.

People will complain that Apple delivered their watch on time.

Oh my God, just stop. Why do we need another new thread on this every two hours?

The order status hasn't changed because it typically won't until it actually ships (based on my own previous Apple purchases). Your credit card has not been charged because it typically won't until it actually ships (based on my own previous Apple purchases).

Take a deep breath. It's going to be okay. Breathe.

Thankfully, Apple is not like other companies....

that charge your card, and then take days to ship the product.

Well.. No, but now that you come to mention it lol it's s possibility for some isn't it? Two week wait (possibly longer if this additional two week delivery window is anything to go by) with no charge or hold on a card. Is a weird launch - there was simply no point to opening preorders on the 10th.
