Oh my God, just stop. Why do we need another new thread on this every two hours?

The order status hasn't changed because it typically won't until it actually ships (based on my own previous Apple purchases). Your credit card has not been charged because it typically won't until it actually ships (based on my own previous Apple purchases).

Take a deep breath. It's going to be okay. Breathe.

Some people get stressed about product deliveries. Telling them to chill out doesn't really help.

Some people get stressed about people starting threads on the Internet. Maybe those people should take deep breaths.

Apple is going to surprise a lot of folks when they begin shipping these out from U.S.-based distribution centers early next week.

Some orders will likely even be arriving before the 24th.

Relax.

Apple have a strict policy regards delivery dates. There is no way there will be any delivered before the 24th.

Apple has never once guaranteed a specific delivery date for preorders before an item was shipped out, why are people bitching about it now?

Wrong. I have preordered many products from Apple and they have always had a specific release date and subsequent delivery date which is usually the same and I have always got the order on that date.

Are you seriously saying that an Apple product has never been delivered before it's "official" release date?

If so, it is you that is wrong. From the original iPad release:

The apple watch is going to get very boring very soon.
People not used to wearing watches will complain how uncomfortable it is and the rest will complain about everything there is to complain about :)

Yes this doesn't happen very often and am not sure if Apple will ever let it happen again but I have once received a product (can't remember if it was iPhone 4 or a software release) a day before the official release.

A few days ago I saw someone getting annoyed at all the duplicate 'there is no charge on my card' threads, and I myself hadn't seen that many yet so I thought the person was overreacting.

Now I realize they weren't.

Is this really the first time people have ever bought anything online?

YOU ARE NOT CHARGED FOR REAL UNTIL IT SHIPS. THIS HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE STATUS OF YOUR APPLE WATCH ORDER.

Thanks for reducing me to a person who types in all caps.

"Apple failed to deliver!"

"What is your target date?"

"April 24!"

"It's April 17"

"But the order status hasn't changed!"

"It's April 17"

So now less than 7 days until this 'phantom launch' and no change in order status (2 weeks of 'processing'?, please!) , no charge to my card, no hold of funds on my card. It's almost as if Apple are unsure if they are going to have any watches at all.
Ok , slight exaggeration on my part but this entire launch feels weird and has lost all steam

My mantra: If it's not going to matter in 5 years, it's not a crisis.

It might seem like forever until the watch arrives, but you'll quickly forget about the wait a week after it's over. Hang in there.

It happens but it's rare. The Apple Watch is the LEAST likely to see this because of how short of supply the watch is, and Apple's improved control of the shipping process versus those prior instances. I certainly wouldn't spend a second thinking about an early delivery. More likely to win the lottery.

Well.. No, but now that you come to mention it lol it's s possibility for some isn't it? Two week wait (possibly longer if this additional two week delivery window is anything to go by) with no charge or hold on a card. Is a weird launch - there was simply no point to opening preorders on the 10th.

The preorders gave Apple time to sort out what the real demand was (how many total orders, distribution of demand across all the models, and demand distribution by city/region), then gear up to respond to it. It's no small matter even for Apple to launch a product like this with sales on the order of 2 million right out of the gate, then address all the logistics to meet that demand.

I'm sure Apple is plenty busy behind the scenes working through this process. Once they have it all settled then they will finalize ship dates, charge our cards, and send us notifications.

I keep telling you guys.... this will be another long and painful week to come :D

Brace yourselves.... more threads of this to come :D

Ugh..... I hate that you are exactly right lol.

Amazon doesn't charge you until the products ship. It's perfectly normal. I personally prefer that.

Unlike one company I use, they charge you immediately and if the parts take three weeks to ship they've already charged you.

I'd rather it be like Apple and Amazon and only charge you when your products are shipping or BCM who charges you the day AFTER your order ships.

If you used Apple Pay you won't be getting a hold charge on your card because Apple Pay uses a token that can only be used once, the only charge you will see is once your order is ready to ship.

The next phase after "Processing" is "Preparing to Ship" and that won't happen until Monday or Tuesday. Image

Not 100% true. I used apple pay tied to my Amex and there was a hold charge. It ended up going away yesterday (I ordered on the 10th and am part of the 24-5th delivery window). So now the pending charge is gone, but it is also not in my completed charges. With that said my available credit still reflects the $399 charge so who knows.

If you've been on 'processing' for 2 weeks then you will for sure be the first to get your watch. The rest of us just crossed the 1 week mark of 'processing' at 12:01PST this morning...

Please do share with us how you got your pre-order in a week before they went live for the rest of us though!

It could be worse.

It could be worse. At least Apple gave people a time frame. I ordered a new TV from Samsung on April 4th, and found out it is on backorder. They never sent an email to let me know and when I have called them, they can't give me a date range as to when it will be in and my order filled. So here I sit not knowing when or if that order will come, and I ordered a Apple watch and at least have a date range as to when I might get it. Could be worse, you could be dealing with Samsung.

U are all in for a big surprise...all the first wave order guys are getting their watches THIS Monday the 20th. I heard it from a friend whoo....heard it from a friend whooo...heard from another u been messin around.

Early orders slip through occasionally. I got my iPhone 4 a day early.

Actually I am equally excited about the phantom 3

lol I preferred the first gen Phantom.

Why do you mind not having been charged for something that you've not yet received notification of shipping for?

I'd rather they not charge me until they've firmed up my shipping date, personally.

We've been waiting a WEEK. The only thing about this that's different from an iPhone launch is that they usually open preorders one week and launch exactly 7 days later.

This product is launching 14 days later. Most likely because:

1) It is a new product category and pre-order demand was a bit of a question mark.

2) Watches need to be matched with bands and boxed up, then placed in bundles for shipping. This takes time. With the iPhone, any product that's already been produced is already in a box by launch.

I'm not sure why so many people are losing their minds over this (not saying you are, OP, so please don't take offense as none is intended).

I am just as impatient as the next person, but I realize that there are thousands of people behind the scenes working to try to get each of us our product as soon as humanly possible.

What more can they do???

I actually hang out here for the occasional REO Speedwagon references, so this is an unusually exciting day for me :D

People act like they've never ordered a launch day product before but it works the same EVERY TIME: Around Monday, China time (Sunday US) the first shipments will start getting processed and start going through customs. People will start getting shipping notices around that time. They'll fly to Anchorage, then to Memphis (FedEx) and sit for a day or two. Then on Wed or Thursday they'll start moving to local facilities and finally be on the truck for Friday delivery.
