People act like they've never ordered a launch day product before but it works the same EVERY TIME: Around Monday, China time (Sunday US) the first shipments will start getting processed and start going through customs. People will start getting shipping notices around that time. They'll fly to Anchorage, then to Memphis (FedEx) and sit for a day or two. Then on Wed or Thursday they'll start moving to local facilities and finally be on the truck for Friday delivery.

Thank you! Exactly!

But none of those people will think to post when they've received their shipping notice.

Oh yes they have. Every preorder I have ever been involved with which has been many has always had a specific delivered by date. This is the first that the delivered by is a window of dates.

The bolded is not true, unless you are only talking about YOUR experience. There have been other launches with a window. The original iPad with 3G had a shipping window, for one. The original iPod touch as well.

Not 100% true. I used apple pay tied to my Amex and there was a hold charge. It ended up going away yesterday (I ordered on the 10th and am part of the 24-5th delivery window). So now the pending charge is gone, but it is also not in my completed charges. With that said my available credit still reflects the $399 charge so who knows.
EMV maybe? That's a little odd, though I am not sure of Amex arrangements with Apple Pay, I know a lot more about MasterCard and Visa.

Sorry, yes I was only talking about my experiences. I should have specified. I did not have experience with those products but MANY others.

Indeed. My iPhone 6+ had a delivery range last year. It did get moved up, but I still only received my phone 3 weeks after launch. Guess what? I lived. Turns out it wasn't the end of the world after all. Go figure.

I guess you haven't been around here long. :)

I've been on these forums for four years and preordering and using Apple products for ten years now. I stand by what I said. If you're refer to errors made by courier companies that's not what I am referring to.

Well couriers are the ones delivering Apple products.....

You made the statement that nobody will get one before the 24th. Every product launch a few people get it early. Of course Apple doesn't want that to happen, but it does. No doubt a few will get the watch a day or two early. Since we all know that UPS/FedEx etc... will make an occasional mistake in that area, I'm not sure what you are standing by.
