As others have mentioned, i honestly don't think they'll get rid of siri on the 5C. I guess they're going for the same market as the 4s thats still for sale. Younger teenagers that want a phone, but can't get the 5. I suppose its just a "lets make the 4s look different to the 5, give it some colour, oh, and it'll be cheaper to make".

Except that if all of the leaked pics are correct (and you know half of them at least probably are fake), the 5C or whatever it's called has the same larger screen as the 5. So it might share some parts from the 4S but it likely has mostly 5 parts in it.

It's going to be odd. If they price it too low it's going to eat a ton of Apple's margin on the 5S. If it's priced too high it doesn't make a lot of sense to release it here (in the U.S.). A huge part of Apple's iPhone hardware profits are the enormous subsidies the contract carriers pay Apple on every sale. On the other hand, Apple can reason that the iPad mini might have eaten into full size iPad sales, but at least those were still Apple sales.

middle school and high schools are going to be flooded with these rainbow iphones. Kids and teens love anything cool and colorful. They are definitley going to want a bright colored iphone this Christmas. Cell phones are pretty much the equivalent to what ipods were back in the day. everybody old enough to go through sex ed has one now.

I think you're right, this may well be a runaway hit.

And yes,I fully expect it to be sold in the US.

Ah, "these audiences". Nothing like looking down upon the paupers having a bit of the high class living you have.....

Yes those sorts of elitist snobby comments really turn my stomach.I guess they will just have to put their 5s in a diamond encrusted case and flash it around to show that they are different from the filthy brutish ignorant unwashed masses...

But can the retailers?
Stocking hundreds of $100 iPods is far different than stocking hundreds of $500 iPhones.

Do stores even keep a lot of stock of iPhones?

When I bought my iPhone 4S three months after launch... I still had to order it.

I assumed carrier stores don't keep a lot of stock anyway.

I'm under the impression that Apple Stores receive a very large percent of their phones at launch. These last two model launches you could just about walk into an Apple Store and by the model you wanted right before close.

Unless it was a 16GB AT&T in black. They never have that ****.

Oh cool.

I was talking about a carrier store though... do they generally keep a lot of stock?

I think its sympathetic and I like it. Not giving up my iPhone 5 for that thing though. I like my **** expensive.

Btw: These colored phones + translucency of iOS7 make it very easy for customers to have a more customized appearance/experience. This going bring variance in to the iPhone masses which will be a good thing since the iPhone has sold "too much" for all of them to look alike.

I feel really confident that APPL will be higher by the end of the year than it is now (excluding possibility of market crash).

----------

I'm looking forward to getting a 5c and retiring my old iPhone 4.

To me Smartphones have become utilitarian. It is an incredible tech that is common place. The design should reflect that, I don't need a slab of the future I have to treat like high end jewelry. Give me something that looks like it can take a few knocks.
Maybe you should look at the Sony phones, those manage to look great while being dust and waterproof. Never tried them though.

I think most likely it will have the processor of a model 2 generations back. Meaning Apple gets to keep selling the 1 gen back model at a lower price, while this one goes for really dirt cheap prices.

In terms of fragmentation it is a lot easier to manage as well, since they won't have to create another class of iOS for this, they just have to use the same one as the model 2 gen back.

TL;DR - I think the '5C' (Dont think that's the real name) will have the iPhone 4S' A5 chip, and will have the same Class of iOS 7 features as the iPhone 4S.

I meant that at launch because Apple receives so many more than usual and they've historically always constrained initially, carrier stores receive a fairly tiny supply.

They receive more every day, but it probably takes a few month for the waves to settle and everyone begins to receive appropriate amounts of phones.

Apple to drop iPod Touch . Replaced by iPhone 5C ?

I´ve read that Apple are going to drop iPod Touch . and be replaced by iPhone 5C ?

Apperently the most wanted future for the iPod Touch is to add 3G/4G modem to the device ... but If you add 3G/4G to an iPod Touch its an iPhone ...

so ergo Apple is dropping the iPod Touch line and replacing it with the iPhone 5C .. make sense .

iPhone 5C will have the same pricing point as the current iPod Touch

I bought one and learned my mistake. Cracks, cracks, cracks galore! (it actually wasn't THAT bad for me... only around the speaker and mic grilles) And I treated my phone right, too.

And before the naysayers slam me, Apple lost a class action for denying warranty claims for this very reason...

same here. my 3gs had a nice crack going out of the plug area. you could tell, though, that it was really thin, brittle plastic. this 5C looks very well made and has a bit of heft to it.

Sorry but that's disgusting. And call me selfish but I hate to see Apple products targeted at these audiences (whoever that may be). Cheap and (again sorry) "not Apple."
lol @ these audiences. What do you think an iPhone is, only $700 product. It's not a luxurious item that costs $5,000. It's only a $700 item that most people in the states probably only paid $200 down any way to finish paying it off in 2 year installment payments.

I can understand that you may feel that this ain't apple, that's fine, but it's not a luxurious item by any means reserved for some high class group of people lol.

I have said this on these very forums MANY times about plastic of the right type being an excellent material.

And every time I've said this, I've been told, no, I'm wrong, by most people. Plastic is cheap and nasty and Apple will never use plastic like other companies, as they don't make junk, they will stick to aluminium and other high quality materials.

Kinda funny NOW isn't it.

Apple is laughing all the way to Beijing. IMO, the 5C will outsell the 5S even missing some of the Uber Techno. My wife was going to upgrade from her 4 to a 5S. Now it's a Green 5C hands down. Could care less about Siri, an A7, or Fingerprints. If she likes it, it will sell. :apple:
