alright guys sorry for the zoomed out potato quality that's somewhat out of focus but believe me this is the most representative of the color and brightness of my panel of the few I tried to capture. Off axis looks fantastic too.

OLED is really difficult to capture. with a screen protector on top may make it even harder.

I dont believe thats what's going on with these jaundice-y displays though since I trust people who aren't happy with theirs are seeing it with their own eyes as well.

I don't believe I would find a better unit if I had a small lot of them to pick between :)
Can you post this photo next to an older iPhone for comparison purposes?

iPhone X on the Left, 12P on the right.
Max Brightness on both, no TT.
It’s much worse in person.

I opened my 12 Pro and compared it straight away to my iPhone 11 Pro and it was definitely too warm. First time i ever have experienced this. Then, after one part of the phone migration process it suddenly snapped to white 😂. It was software.

Yep def yellow tinge on the right with iPhone Pro 12 compared to 11 Max Pro on left. Both at full brightness and same settings

checking is nerve wrecking

TT being automatically on through initial setup makes it even more so . Makes you doubt your phone even if you got a gem lol

So far it seems viewing angles are worse on my iPhone 12Pro vs my standard iPhone 11.
The 11 also has more true to life colours when displaying photos.
Both phones at same settings :/

Just wanna highlight a few things because I see people either saying their display is fine, while others are saying theirs is yellow.

1. A yellow display doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s defective, it’s more likely a calibration issue (or non issue according to Apple).
2. If you’re not comparing against another display, you will most likely not notice the yellowness. There’s no single representation of the colour white as it’s affected greatly by lighting conditions. So saying that your iPhone is fine without comparison is pointless.
3. This year’s iPhone 12 and 12 Pro displays are very uniform, and their colour shifting when you tilt the phone is very minimal. They’re just calibrated to be warmer, that is all.
4. If you decide to compare against a store display unit, make sure to take your other device that you initially compared your new iPhone against. If your other device is also cooler than the display unit, then there’s no point exchanging the phone. Remember, the display can either seem cooler or warmer at certain times because of the light conditions, likely because of the display coating at Apple uses.

Edit: 5. When you take a photo of 2 displays side by side, it’ll most likely not be the same as what your eyes are seeing.

My first 11 Pro Max was so yellow it made all other colors dingy. So it was exchanged. The second one was still yellow but not as bad. I used color filters. It seems people will need to do this again this year if they don't get the blue hued ones they always have on display models.

I'm glad I'm not upgrading.

I've not followed this closely, but from what I've seen you might just as easily say that the previous iPhone had a blue shade. What's the reference here?

I’m not comparing against the previous iPhone, but against my Android phone, my iMac and MacBook Pro. The iPhone 12 is warmer than all these displays. The 11 Pro was also warmer, so I returned it.

I played around with the color filters this morning and adjusted the 12 Pro in a way that it is very close to my iPad Pro and MacBook. I’m content with the change in tint through the filters therefore I think I’ll just keep mine vs doing an exchange.
