don't even bother with that guy. he's so convinced that Apple can do no wrong and that the people who genuinely have had phones with QA issues are wrong.

Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying, as evidenced in my earlier post:

Yes, there is defintely some variation amongst the new units, and there are definitely some defective screens, but most eventually get to where they are supposed to be.

Serious question.....how much time do you spend each day looking at this screen?

Try this experiment......on both devices, go to Safari, or YouTube, or your texting app, or whatever you use your phone for mostly. Then, actually use that app on each device, paying close attention to and interacting with the information being displayed in the app, and then tell us what the difference is between the devices when you are actually using the apps.

You can retrain your brain to realize that a cell phone's purpose is not to display a perfectly-white screen. If you can teach your brain to ignore such superfluous input, I can promise you that you will be a much happier person.

No charge for this cognitive behavioral therapy session.

Serious answer. It bothers me. It is a SIGNIFICANT Tint that you can detect in most screens that have a white top bar and status bar. It is NOT as obvious if I use a colorful or dark background. But WHY do I need to accept that? May be we should all get our eyes examined or even the brain. May be a knock on a part of the brain would fix the perception?

If your screen is fine, then Great for you!
If you think your screen is fine, then Great for you!
If you think your screen has an unacceptable tint, Report here, Tell Apple, Get a Replacement!
If the replacement is still the same. Consider another phone.

Period.

I took my SE to the Apple Store. They replaced the screen. It still has a yellow band at the top. It's slightly better than before but not by much. A quick check of the display SEs in the store showed that they all exhibited the problem.

I bought the SE mainly as a 'stunt' phone to put iOS betas on, but this is still disappointing. However, I'm not going to keep trying with this. With my main 6s, I rejected three phones before I finally got one without a yellow band at the top. I'm contemplating skipping the iPhone '7' because the quality of the screens is so poor. I might wait and see what the 2017 shift to OLED brings.

All of my iPhone 6 which I exchanged including my current one have that yellow strip at the top.Unfortunately there isn't a single iPhone which doesn't exhibit this problem

That's odd to say. It's virtually impossible to say they all do. Sure a lot might but honestly my second 6s didn't. My SE doesn't either. Perhaps I'm lucky but my 5c didn't either. My 6 did though.

I can certainly vouch that my 6 does not have a yellow band at the top of the screen. Same with my 6s. So I'm not sure what @Radon87000 is getting in saying that all iPhone's have the yellow band at the top of the screen.

a bit disappointed :( not sure what to do. Both are on max brightness and nightshift off.

Test driving a 5se 16 white glad it's not like this. A little yellow up top but not at all over

Mines actually less warm than my employer issued 5s too woo

Are you guys most sensitive to yellow tint more than window screen effect slash vertical interlacing?

tried a gold 16 unlocked, and it has slight vertical interlacing too though not as bad as the silver

in the name of science (not 100% but taken with 6s plus, from top to bottom or left to right, gold 16 F17 factory 23rd week build, silver 16 C39 factory same week build, 5s from late 2015 space grey:

also the pink tint isnt there in person, but the gold is less bright than the silver screen. seems to not have that hot/yellow top though compared to other two

off angle

and worst of all between gold and silver 5se, the blacks look comparatively blown out especially off angle on the silver
jrpknM4.jpg

also both are TSMC, going to trial the gold for a bit but i think the silver will need to go back
the vibrate motor feels better on gold, not blown out a bit like silver/rattly,
the sleep button on gold has more rattle than silver,
side buttons are a wash, same with home buttons upon first taking a look at it

had a jaundice-y ipad pro also, seems you need to buy 2 of every thing apple these days and even then that may not be enough since some guy had 6 swaps with top yellow still

Everything is a trade off too is another point of mine. slight earpiece rattle during initial ringing doesn't affect hearing voice just like my 6s plus, lol so funny, the silver doesn't have that-- the russian roulette for literally every component every time,

a few more, glad to put this one to bed only "one swap" in
but again not sure why the sensor is picking up pink tint, doesnt look like that more putting these up to show I got one without the yellow strip, yay:

and last but not least, the staring at white screen saga:

off axis

and just to say its not lighting or exposure, put the silver one on top here and flipped their positions so its still prominent

I don't see yellow tint as a problem, as long as it's uniform i would keep it.

Recently got 2 iphone 5S manufactured in April 2016, both have uniform warm screens which im happy about.

I just hate uneven pinkish screen like my ipad 3 and launch day iphone 5S.

I don't know what is up with Apple and the whole yellowish screen on the iPhone SE. The first one I got had a yellowish screen and I had to exchange it for another one. The new one is good but I can't use night shift because as soon as I turn it on the screen gets so yellow and dark it is terrible. But if I leave it off it is alright. I am not sure why the went so far to the extreme with the yellowish tint.

Sarcasm? That's the point of night mode

For what its worth my superior screen 5se gold (to the silver one I have) has a jagged rough appearance (not feel) between glass and aluminum body in the right light/angle but hides itself in most settings

Hard to capture in a photo but I think this sums it up, and I still won't swap for another (too many variables as aforementioned and you lose your enthusiasm for products when you go an assembly line rampage of wanting something remotely perfect.) assuming I keep 16 and dont require 64, or assuming I keep 5SE at all really wanted to try IOS 10 beta and the small form factor to see what it felt like after coming up on almost 2 years of 5.5"

Screen and functionality are most key to me, and for $399 you get what you get (but seems to be the way if you get a 6s plus too, for >$1000 after tax for certain models so quality control is just a wash these days anyways and a relatively mythical idea Imo)

The silver one looks a little odd with that piece of dirt lodged in the edge of the glass front not even between glass and aluminum, but not as raggedy though still not perfect:

On another note, 2 days with SE and really digging it! Surprised I'm seriously considering sim swapping 6s plus jailbroken and SE on iOS 10

Can't sell or give up 6s plus for jailbreak or form , I know I will miss it. But on its own SE feels great and disappears in my pocket

As for QC issues, the screen thing on the silver isn't something I can really unsee, nor the intense vertical interlacing that is more subtle on my gold

Boy, is that the truth...

Which of these two would you go with (pink isn't as bad as showing up in camera for example its the same unit as the post a few above this one that I preferred to the other two, right is more yellow but brighter and no interlacing/ better build overall except vibrate motor)

I know everyone is different, but for my own personal perspective, I would go with the screen on the left.

This third one is tsmc too, but doesn't have vertical interlacing at all it appears :O
Only one of three without window effect/interlacing, I used to be really aware and sensitive to this in the iPhone 5 days, though my work 5s and silver 16 I returned both had window screen more intensely than current one,

Better build too overall (except the vibrate is rattle-y instead of smooth dang), this is a tough predicament

Ill see if my eyes adjust to warmth or if it goes away a bit, the camera does exaggerate both tints too

yeah a little warm up top but if youre happy id keep it

keeping mine and its a little warm up top too, nice screen overall. and cant play swap game anymore, i have a solid rattle free lock button, good touch ID and button, and TSMC!

I didn't notice on mine yellow effect, but when you start to think on that and search everyone will imagine.
On picture above is little visible, but I think with brightness level could be reduced or gone completely.

I'm reading forums about same problem and that threat helped me much. so just for the record i decided to write my experience with SE.

after i dropped my 5s into water, i decided the buy SE. I was happy with the size. So on tuesday night i bought it and left it for a restore at night. Next morning i see that somethings really wrong on the screen. I was ready for "yellow top bar" and dont know the warmer/yellow screen issues. and yes i had the yellow top bar it but it was less than most of the other users who had same problem and after a while i really dont mind having it. But the screen is very yellow, warm colors. I had iPhone 4, 5s before and still using 4th gen iPad and never felt wrong about the screens, they were always good looking and much more cooler colors.

As a graphic designer i really felt bad about the screen after 2 days usage and went to Apple Store for compare. There were many iPhone SE models and when i compare almost most of them looks good! No warmer/"yellowish" colors or yellow top bars. I talked the customer service and told the problem. Actually they dont decided it as a problem. Guy told me that they take the devices from 2 different manufacturers and they have different screens so if i change it might be cooler color or even more yellow. i took my chance and asked for a new phone. we compared two devices and the new phone's screen is much much more yellow color! so 3 different color screen in same store. i decided give back to phone. in the country i live in that phones are much more expenssive than us/eu. and after i paid lots of money its not a good feeling to have a device with low quality colors. in my other apple devices i never experienced something like that, i was very disapointed.

bad things is SE was the only iOS phone on the markets good for one hand use. so unfortunately i dont have any plan b now.

So why not go somewhere else and try another SE?
