so what do you reckon, mines the top one, the bottom is a 1st gen

I reckon if you have to ask, you don't see a problem.

What would you like people to say? "Rush to the Apple store and exchange it?" What then? Do you think Apple will exchange it when you tell them that random people on the Internet told you it looks yellow? And if they do exchange it for some crazy reason, what then? Will you post a photo of the replacement, for our approval?

Just enjoy your iPad.

Tinted or perfect?

Well, my replacement arrived today, perfectly even screen, bright white.......

AND A FARKING PIECE OF DUST UNDER THE SCREEN.

Rang Apple and told them that this time, I want the replacement sent first before I return this iPad. They apologised profusely and advised that they would see what they could do...

I'm expecting a return call soon.

How long did it take you to get the replacement between sending your iPad back and shipping the new one back to you? Which week was your iPad produced? Did it come in a brown box or a brand new retail shrink wrapped box? Thanks!

So does anyone have proof that it's the glue that is causing the yellow screen? It's half and half between glue and just faulty screen in the forum. Anyone have before and after photos for the yellow tint going away?

I asked for the replacement on the 23rd, it turned up today (28th). The iPad came in retail shrink wrapped packaging and was a week 10 device (March).

Still waiting for Apple to call me back, they've added another replacement request against my Apple ID.

I kept thinking maybe the right of my screen was a bit warmer than the left, so I tried the split keyboard test someone used earlier in the thread, what do you guys think?

Not sure if I want to return it, this is my 2nd one because the last one had a chip in the aluminum and a dead pixel. I guess if I can live with it I don't want to risk getting anything worse.

It looks good on the new iPad's screen.

I am just wondering

Why can the viewing angle can be so low?

It just becomes so yellow when I am not looking at the screen straight.

Its supposed to be a premium ips panel right?

This is 100% like mine...

@ArtzMac
Thanks for the pictures.

The backlight seems perfectly even on mine. The following pictures don't do it justice at all but FWIW:

Wow, looks great, it's a keeper. Thx for sharing :)

Have you considered returning yours? I feel like I can probably live with it since it isn't noticeable unless I look for it. On the other hand I read and annotate a lot of PDFs on my iPad so I hope the shadow doesn't start annoying me over time.

Your screen looks messed up. Half of it is pink and the other half is green. No white uniformity.

It looks (kind of) messed up in the pictures only.

In real life, whites are uniform. Looks stunning! I can't find a flaw, even in the dark.

My iPhone's camera lens doesn't see the same way my eyes do (thankfully, in this case) :D.

No problem. Definitely going to keep this one :).

Yes, I thought about it. I'll just use mine for a few weeks/months and see if it bothers me enough to swap it. Actually, every LCD product I've owned has some sort of uniformity issue and everyone of my friends' screens do as well (bit they don't care or notice it at all), that's just part of the game I suppose. Some are worse than others, that's for sure.

Chances are that yu are getting a worse one back after a swap.

The criteria for me is that if I would swap it and receive a worse one in return, would I wish to go back to the screen I've had before? If yes, than I would never swap. If my screen was so horrendous that I'd never want to go back to it no matter what, then I'd happily swap...

Must be how the pixels are packed together or the coating on the screen, a lot of reviews did mention that the Ipad3 has a noticeably 'lower' viewing angles compared to the Ipad1 or 2.

I got an iPad which display looked terrible. Now I have got an iPad which is a bit yellow around the edges. I have read that this might go away during the next few days but there are no official statements regarding this.
Have anyone actually experienced a yellow tint go away? To me, it seems unlikely that it will.

Anyone spot some green coming downwards from the top right corner?

Green shadow from the top right corner

I have the same issue. I exchanged my previous iPad which had a super yellow screen and this new is beautiful neutral except for that green shadow coming from the right top corner. I have the option to return it but what might i end up with instead? I don't dare to think.....

Correct.
It seems apple rushed out the retina screen to meet their annual iPad announcement regardless if it was ready.

It's like they took a step backwards on the new iPad screen other than increasing the resolution.

The IPS display used int he iPad is a 9.7-inch 1024-by-768 resolution LED-backlit LCD screen. IPS gives the iPad an impressive wide viewing-angle of up to 178 degrees.Other LCD technologies tend to have narrower viewing angles, especially in the vertical direction.

Typical casual-use devices, namely netbooks, use a twisted nematic (TN) display technology. TN although cheaper, offers inferior color reproduction (only 6-bit color, while IPS supports richer 8-bit color), and lower viewing angles, so Apple's use of a higher quality display techology (IPS) for such a casual device is welcomed.

This is exactly how I feel. The new iPad is half-baked. Unless of course Apple was counting on the extra heat to finish the baking process.

Seriously though, the new display has great resolution, but has comprimised other very important aspects such as viewing angle and uniformity.

Omg I just walked into currys in Greenwich London, UK and have seen the first absolutely flawless iPad, mine is now winging its way back to apple distribution. My good god it had NO yellow OR pink whatsoever and was as bright as the ipad2 sitting directly next to it.

Am convinced we are being deceived with this calibration **** now, apple didn't want us to have these 'warm screens'.

Bill

Of course the warm screens aren’t normal. I am constantly amazed that at every Apple product launch I hear the exact same arguments for the yellow screens. Its always 1)Glue (it isn’t) and 2)Intentional (It isn’t) and some combination of why the yellow screen is more accurate blah blah blah. It seriously never fails.

There was a dude with a color calibration test in this thread? There was one of those in the 4S yellow screen thread. And the 4. And the 3GS.

People just can't get over their religious fervor for a mega corporation, and admit Apple products can be defective. To think some people are trying to bake their iPads in towels...you shouldn’t have to do anything. The product should be flawless out of the box. Stand up for yourselves already.

I had a 32GB Wifi that had a nice screen, maybe a bit red, but it was acceptable to me.

I then decided I needed more space and bought a 64GB Wifi and it has the dreaded yellow tint. I'm going to return it and buy 2 more 64GB Wifi's tomorrow and hopefully one of them won't have the tint. Is there any point buying 2 at a time? Do they usually have very similar serial numbers and displays?
