I have a 3Gs, and couldn't get this to work. But I didn't have a Yelp account either, so I signed up for one, and signed in. Three shakes, and boom, it worked. So it appears that it is only available to Yelp users that are signed in as well.

Gotta download it now before they pull it off. Yelp is giving other developers idea on how to easterized egg their apps so Apple won't detect them. Like shake to unlock your iphone included in you game apps or shake to bypass wifi only apps to access the internet like Skype and so on and so forth.

Wait a minute. Wouldn't the app reviewers be able to read the code of the Easter Egg? I suspect Yelp was being tongue-in-cheek.

Thank you. :)

As with camera megapixels, the importance of car-speed has been greatly overemphasized! It's hardly the most important thing, even in a sports car.

I love the gullwing doors and stainless steel body and that sells it for me. Where I grown up- there was a DMC dealership and it is still there. They have 35 Deloreans there at any time. I recently took a friend from out of state there and he crapped his pants when he say them all and 5 of them with their doors up.

I talked to the guys a few years ago and they said around $25,000 they would sell you one that is restored- not a bad deal.

You don't need an account.

mashinhead: delete it and re-download. I just did that but I shook it a few more times than 3 for it to work.

I saw one this past weekend.

All this augmented reality stuff has some real future potential as being widely used in car navigation and cell phones. Can't wait to see what else they come out with.

And prepare for Apple's takedown (for use of undocumented APIs) in 3....2.....1....

Or is that only for applications that potentially compete with Apple's own? :):cough::cough::Google::cough::cough). :D

Nice. I'm going to strap my iPhone to my glasses, giving me super vision with information floating before my eyes. This will be pretty much the last step in my transformation into RoboCop.

Tried several times to activate it, finally got it to work. Like others, the direction seems to be off.

I do not think it is the compass as it is just about dead on right now. It seems the locations are off by several addresses. As I look at 99 it thinks it is looking at 68 (street numbers and about 100 yards down the street). I look on the map and they are located incorrectly also but it does not show my location as being in the wrong place. I check google maps and everything is in its correct place. Odd.

Hmm, just found out there is a carpenter nearby. Gotta call him.

I'm starting to get jealous of not having the 3GS now. :( I decided not to upgrade from my 3G because AT&T SUCKS!...That whole, you get the subsidized price if your line is $99 a month or more, and my bill even though it is like $115 a month, without taxes and fees is only about $94 according to them, so I was screwed! YOU SUCK AT&T, and where is MMS and Tethering?

Looks pretty cool, but I'm sorry, that girl in the video is VERY ANNOYING!

The people deserve an attaboy!!!! They knew that the Apple Review Techs would not be able to shake their iPhone Simulators (the iMacs) they were testing these on!!!

Apple is waiting for the release of iPhone OS 3.1 to officially enable the feature, which explains why the augmented reality feature in the Yelp application was included as a hidden easter egg to avoid detection by Apple's reviewers.

This one overtly has augmented reality.

Quite frankly I do not see the point.

The point, my friend, is that it's just cool! You may not NEED it, since icons on a map will tell you where you need to go, but you will sure as hell impress your friends (and yourself) just watching this work, and that is enough for me.

I can't wait to show this to my wife (who also has a 3GS) when I get home.

I like the way you think man! Who gives a damn how silly you'll look (only slightly more silly than me standing downtown rotating in circles holding a phone in front of me). Robovision is robovision.

Pretty cool. I just wish the compass was more accurate. It's pretty off. Hopefully it's a software and not hardware issue. (calibration doesn't help)
