Nope, closer to 2/3.

Agreed. No where near 1/2. Everyone needs to keep in mind the perspective of the photograph. It's taken on an angle above the phone / case. If it were a straight shot you'd see the top of the case coming close to, if not completely covering the headphone jack.

THe angle is slight on the photo in post 10. Still, 2/3 the thickness would make for a 6mm thick phone. I don't see that happening.

Almost half of the headphone jack is exposed.

Only 1/4...maybe 1/3 of the headphone jack is exposed. Even you admit it's not 1/2. For the phone to be 1/2 as thin as the iP4 then a full 1/2 of the headphone jack would be exposed.

I think someone also tricked you into thinking 3" is really 6" didn't they. :p

True, it's not a 45 degree angle but I'd say it a bit more than "slight" and it may be a bit more than 2/3 the thickness. 3/4 maybe? I don't know. 75% the thickness of the current iphone would be a hair over 7mm. I went back to my earlier post in this thread (#23) and looked at the case dimensions. Yeah, its about 75% compairing the 2 cases. 1.1 cm vs .8 cm. I'm no engineer so I don't have the answer either. Is 7mm enough room for the headphone jack?

All of these cases are probably sourced to the same leaked document.

The only "case" rumor I put any faith in is the Case Mate one -- they went as far as doing full mock-ups for their website, and the fact that their products are actually sold in Apple Stores leads me to believe they are working on more than just a leaked source.

As of yet, the Case Mate cases seem like they are our best bet. Only time will tell for sure. But I thought Apple never revealed the cases beforehand so that they could exclusively sell their own branded cases in store while other companies are scrambling to make their cases after the announcement (unless Apple partnered with Case Mate to make the Apple branded cases).

I'd spend $34.95 for this at the Apple Store.... as long as my new iPhone fit inside ;)

This is a problem. People need to stand up and stop letting the accessories get overpriced.

This thing probably cost less than $.50 to make. Stop overpaying and the manufacturers will have to bring down their prices to a reasonable level.

But, let's go ahead and say "2/3's". Current phone is 9.3mm thick. 2/3 of that is 6.2, yes? Is the camera unit alone that thin? I've said it in every other post with these cases, they are too thin to fit a phone. If the new phone is indeed only 6.2mm thick, I'll come eat crow. And that's your numbers...

You're close as the guy who posted the case pics says it tapers from 8mm to 6mm. He also says "This case is EXTREMELY thin. If this is the final design, Apple will have a totally knockout product."

75% of the current iPhone would be a touch under 7mm, not over (9.3x.75=6.975). That's awfully thin.

If it is indeed 8mm, that's believable. A 2mm taper is pretty dramatic though, considering how cramped the inside of the phone would become.

The iPod touch is 7.2mm, and that's too thin of a device for me to want to carry around...although wouldn't be a complete turnoff because a case can help add size/grip. But can Apple really fit the guts of the iPhone into a case thinner (~half the case would be as thin-thinner) than the iPodT?

You're right. I was looking at dimensions off phonescoop and they had 9.4. I was looking at the iPhone vs others so I didn't double check. Apple's page says 9.3. My mistake.

ehh no worries. A difference of 1/3 of a mm isn't much...either way, a touch over or a touch under 7mm is too thin IMO. Not just too thin for use, but too thin to stuff the internals in. Unless the 4.5" screen threads are correct lol. But even then, the Epic 4G touch is 9.65mm (.38" on samsungs site)....but I don't know how much room is left inside the device.

So with the last few cases we have seen this size, what do you guys the think the screen size is? I would say 4.3"

There were tons of rumors of them keeping the same size phone but making the screen bigger to 4". Making the phone bigger plus doing that would yield 4.3 or possibly even 4.5"

If these rumors are true, then the iPhone 4 will look like a brick compared to the iPhone 5.

How i hope that this rumor is true, otherwise i can't fathom waiting over a year for a redesigned iPhone, only to get a 4S.

To be honest, I wish they would make the phone smaller, not bigger. I like the size of the HTC Aria. It's 3/4 the size of the iP4 (perfect size IMO). The screen was just a little smaller, but it looked bigger because the phone was smaller.

Having said that, I'm still excited to see what the iP5 will look like.

If the new iPod has a mute switch then maybe.

Could it be a screen rotation lock?

To me, the only thing that's funky about this being an iPod touch case is the headphone jack at the top. But then again, it's a redesign, so that could be where they decided to put it.
