I don't understand this crap "Oh I'm switching to Android"

Okay. Go. No one cares.
But, if you think your problems are going to be fixed by going to Android/WP7/etc - good luck.

Sounds like your mind was really made up before u got it. I'm disappointed with it too. But the only thing I dislike is that fact that I use the same case and people can't tell I upgraded from the 4 to the 4S. Even tho the GS2 is fast, the 4S is faster, better camera, only thing GS2 has is ram. Best of luck! Hate to see u leave!!

Ugh... this is sickening

Well, maybe not sickening.

Desperately needing that level of external validation is just a little sad. :(

guess what happens to things you dont care of?

actually i take great care of my phone and other electronics. like i said it probably just a defect, a very inconvenient one at that.

TBH I have never had any kind of real problem out of an Apple product, perhaps that is why it's so frustrating. BUt I have absolutely every right to be upset when I pay good money for something and its a dud.

lol its the same build quality as the IP4 an the issues that ur having is either due to ur carelessness or stupidity

and for the batterly life...its not that hard to fix

1. there is a drop down menu with 2 widgets running...turn them off

2. there is siri which has a proximity sensor ALWAYS turned on.....turn it off by going to Settings > General > Settings > Raise to speak to "off"

3. there are constant location services running with iADs.....turn them off by Settings > Location Services > System Services > Location Based iAds to "off"

4. apps that u open always remained paused upon exit, its part of the multi tasking feature...so close them by double clicking the home button, holding down one of the icons that appear and then closing them

the iPhone 4S also has 2 processors that take more juice, if u want more battery life get a phone that has less features....and dont tell me ur going to get a SII cause the battery life on the 4S sucks, the SII makes the iPhone battery seem like its eternal, Androids have **** battery

I can tell you right now I have my SII set up the way I like it and can easily make it through an entire day without charging. That's starting at 6:00am and ending at 12:00am. I really don't turn anything off and have more widgets running on one home page (have 5) then apple does in their little notification tap. I also use a live wallpaper that is updates via accuweather. Don't make stupid generalizations based on old phones.

Actually I already turned off fare more than knck out suggested. I did that on day one and still have battery issues. Like I said the S2 looks very nice, especially if it gets Ice Cream Sandwich.

But i think i will just drive to the Apple store for an exchange. if the next one is a dud i will definitely jump ship.

Getting 3 1/2 hours usage out of a phone costs me a lot in my line of work. Thats half a day of missed calls and emails from clients.

Why? You got just that, a dud. Why should you get upset? The number of duds as you call them is less than a tenth of a percent, if that. Knowing this, you should just simply chalk it up to random chance regarding ANY electronic device, and get it fixed.

Upset? I guess. Disheartened? Sure. Mad at a particular party? I don't get it.

Im upset with Apple because they are giving me the run around.

to the guy needing external validation (or in his words: a compliment from others for "working hard enough to own something nice"). Just a little food for thought: Nobody cares, and I mean nobody.

Nobody thinks you are more respectable, cooler, wealthier, luckier, and any other adjective you can think of along the same lines because you own an iphone. They are the best selling phones in the world, they use to be exclusive when the first one came out, now everyone and their mother has one because they're great phones - period.

Having a new phone is no way to stand out, go buy yourself an electric yellow Ferrari and call it an effing day. Personally, I'd rather have a $200-300K IRA that NOBODY knows about than a depreciating asset like a Ferrari.

God help you if you look forward to 'compliments' on the consumer products you purchase. I can't even fathom what that must be like.

on top of the crappy battery life i discovered a newly emerging issue with my 4S.

When i squeeze the bottom left corner the back panel makes a popping sound, like its not attached to the phone. This started today and is very annoying.

I was going to wait for an iOS update for the battery issue but Im going to call Apple for a replacement. I would be over it if the back panel popped off and I dont want to be stuck with a defective phone.

Im really beginning to question the build quality of these things and the QC practices employed. I love Apple but this iPhone 4S debacle is tempting me to switch up and get a Galaxy S2. THere have been too many issues with this phone in the one week I've had it. Its apparently falling apart already :(

Had the same problem. Took it in today. They swapped it out without question. No problems with this one.

I know you're pissed off right now and you want it to work, but think about this. When you manufacture MILLIONS of something, there are bound to be some defects. Say it's even half a percent, that would be 20,000 phones (assuming 4 million sold). Does it suck that you (and I) got one? Yeah. But I'm sure if you got it replaced, it would be fine, at least statistically speaking.

you'd never be able to tell.

I can tell when I leave the browser and have to come back and reload every page I had there. Or when I leave a game, take a pic, and come back to the game' s initial loading screen.

More RAM would help. It always helps. I love the phone and I use it for literally everything except document composition and writing of papers, which I could easily do as I type in the phone all of the time.

The 5 will have a gig of RAM and probably a quad core processor as well. Or a dual core and some other awesome internals or perks. I'm thinking same camera (or a better one if tey don't have anything else worth talking about) with more RAM, faster CPU clock speeds, and updates to Siri and iOS.
