i just received my case, and i like many of its features, but i'm just not a huge fan of the appearance of the leather. i have been using the marware eco-vue case for the past couple of weeks, and i much prefer the feel/look of that instead. unfortunately, functionally, the Marware Eco-Vue has its flaws. here are my thoughts comparing the two:

Advantages of Yoobao:
- slightly thinner, but it's very close
- slightly more of a margin around the screen (esp the long sides)
- i much prefer the folded cover stand over the flip-out leg of the eco-vue
- magnet closure is nice
- easier access to orientation lock (i find the eco-vue sometimes covers the orientation lock because the ipad slights up and down vertically)
- i'm not a fan of the vertical unattached latch of the marware as the ipad falls out too easily

Advantages of Marware:
- the marware is much more appealing visually
- the iPad is a little difficult to remove from the Yoobao (might be because i have film on back/front)

Well I just got a reply from the seller besthoo about getting my case replaced with the the one with the flap. They want me to send them ANOTHER $39 to buy that case instead of replacing it. I'm thinking bout opening up a dispute with paypal and ebay because 1) I feel like they should have held off my order with the new one coming out and 2) the product I received isn't what was advertised, the iPad does not stay in the case like they have shown in the picture.

I don't think you'd have a case for a dispute because they sent you what you paid for, however their return policy in the auctions say "7 day money back, buyer pays return shipping" so you should be able to just request to return the case and then buy the newer version. Also just for the record the seller's name on eBay is actually "ebesthoo168".

Also to make your life easier you might consider just posting it on your local Craigslist, decent cases for the iPad are so scarce right now it would probably sell very quickly. I have sold several cases that I purchased and took for a test drive that didn't suit my style.

I would have to agree with the above post. They had no way of knowing what new case the company was coming up with or if it actually stays in the case, which i think if you followed some of the fixes here,it would not.

These are little sellers in Hong Kong who are trying to make a little dough on a very thin margin and opening up a dispute would in all likelihood freeze their Paypal account and cause undue stress which if that's why you want to do after receiving the case you laid for then be my guest.

I would try and sell it, and or go back to the seller having look at his refund policy and try and work it out to get another at perhaps a discount since the shipping and time involved with returning anything to that region is a PIA. This is the reason many of us do not deal with sellers over there, sometimes its just to much trouble. In this case unfortunately for e time being it is the only place to get this case.

Tell you what if its the tan case i would be interested in it!

Can anyone comment on how sturdy this case is when being used as a stand in landscape mode ? Does it wobble at all ?

This is a big reason for a case like this for me.

It more stable than the Apple case, which for those who know Apple's case is not very stable in the landscape position. The bottom of Yoobao stand sits flatter. However don't forget that with the older model (without the flap), you have to deal with the iPad wanting to slide out unless you go with the sticky pad solution.

Well their picture shows the ipad standing horizontally and not slipping out. Obviously thats not the case. As for selling it on crags list, wouldn't someone just want the new one instead?

Most people won't even know anything about the case (only us fanatics go into tech blogs). Just advertise it as a great iPad leather case with lots of pictures, I have listed 2 other cases this way and both sold within a day.

So to othernpeople with this case, how are the edges lining up?

Im going crazy with my incase convertible because its impossible to hold vertically since it isnt flat that way

I appreciate the feedback , thanks.

Has the odor gone away yet ?

Just got my case in yesterday. (the new one with the flap). I have to say I really like it! Does everything the apple one does, but in my opinion it looks better too. I have nothing new to report that others haven't. Just wanted to mention that I am very happy with this purchase.

Care to share a quick pic or two?

Cool, what seller did you buy it from?

I also received my new and improved (with the flap) Yoobao leather case today. I purchased mine from the eBay seller "ebesthoo168" and paid extra for EMS (priority mail) shipping. The seller shipped it on Saturday from Hong Kong and I received it on Thursday (4 working days) in Denver, Colorado.

Of course I did a video review comparing the new case to the old one, here you go:

I was just checking the eBay auction for this case from seller "ebesthoo168" whom seems to be affiliated with yoobao. It appears that the product design has changed yet again. Now instead of a flap to prevent the iPad from slipping there are 2 small straps on each end that look like they are elastic. The caption for the picture that shows the straps says "Special designed to prevent sliding out".

How are you receiving your orders so quickly?

The places on ebay I'm seeing them on is shipping from across seas. Is there something we need to know in order to receive them as quickly as you're receiving them?

Maybe they had a bunch made (or cut) the old way so they figured out a way to be able to sell them by adding some elastics (or whatever they are).

Great! Thank you, Richard. Just ordered one. Now its the best case out of all :) i hope the light sensor hole sits right, seeing it's much smaller now.

Can you confirm the new version folds like the old one when holding it vertically? It looked like the cover didnt sit flat on the back like the old case, might be a bit angled when holding in your hands

You can make it sit flat or at a little bit of any angle when holding it vertically; the edge is more like the one on the PDAir (watch the PDAir review video in another post to see what I mean). The only drawback to the new case design is that getting the iPad out of the case is no longer a matter of simply sliding it out, there is more work involved as you can see in my video. So I could see Yoobao making both cases, those you want to remove their iPad frequently would like the original design better. For this who bought the original case, don't fret because it's still a great case, I personally the the newer design better.

Sebzen - the light hole seems to line up perfectly with the light sensor, as a matter of fact the "lines" of the leather around the screen edges are perfectly aligned more than any case I have seen for the iPad.

I bought one in tan from the other ebay seller who I asked to email when he had stock, which he did yesterday. So I purchased one of the tan ones, then I received an email this am saying he only had the black.

Well, you should change your item listing, and picture. I told him to refund my money. I'm moving on from this product and waiting for something better.

I think it is wise to wait to see if these cases break easily or get worn out pretty fast. I was looking at the stitching and looks like through time they will come loose.

Everything looks good when it is new.

Anyone know the difference between the "Type A" and "Type B" of these two? I know there was a new version, but they both list them as "upgraded":

Type A
http://cgi.ebay.com/YOOBAO-genuine-leather-case-protector-Apple-iPad-/220601858737?cmd=ViewItem

Type B
http://cgi.ebay.com/YOOBAO-genuine-leather-case-protector-Apple-iPad-B-/220601872707?cmd=ViewItem

I see no differences between those two sets of pictures. I can see two small straps that appear to have been put in on the 'insert' side to hold the iPad in place. The set of pics he was showing when I ordered my "flap included" case showed a flap and not those straps.

Then again, I've not gotten my yet so I maybe he pulled a switcher-oo on me and sent me the elastic straps one and not the flap one? I guess I'll just have to wait for it to be delivered.

Being the cynic that I am, I think he changed the picture showing the flap from earlier and is stocking only the elastic strap version now. You will just pay $2 more if you buy it from the older full-flap eBay page. By doing this, people who ordered the leather full-flap version but get the elastic strap version will be asked to prove that they were misled....and given his "engrish" descriptions, the picture was really the only way to do that.
