Anyone know the difference between the "Type A" and "Type B" of these two? I know there was a new version, but they both list them as "upgraded":

Type A

Type B
http://cgi.ebay.com/YOOBAO-genuine-leather-case-protector-Apple-iPad-B-/220601872707?cmd=ViewItem

The pictures for both A and B appear to be the same. I suggest you email the seller to find out the difference. If you do so please report back what you hear.

Thanks!

Part B only showed up once the flap version came out. So it seems part a is the old, flapless version. However it seems they all changed their part a descriptions, all being with a flap. So they're the same. But just to be safe i'd order part B

Basically, they mean revision 1 and revision 2

I would also recommend you email the seller, that's how I purchased mine, by contacting the seller directly to pay for and arrange the EMS shipping. He was very responsive to my emails and shipped quickly. In my email I just told him I wanted to purchase the new version with the flap, he had no problem understanding what I was looking for.

I'm jealous. I ordered from the same seller the same day and paid for ems and no case yet. Now it will be Tuesday at the earliest.

Just to clarify:

Version 1 had no flap/no straps
Revision 1 had a flap (the link for that has been changed to now read "A")
Revision 2 has straps (the link for that now reads "B")

However, as noted, the pictures for Revision 1 and Revision 2 are identical, so it is entirely likely that no more Flap models exist and all models are now the strap versions.

I sent an email to the guy to find out what he is sending me. No response yet but its Sunday for him. I ordered mine on May 22, and it shipped out on May 25. As of May 25, the link for "A" still showed a Flap. He changed that picture on May 28.

here's the seller's response:

Hi!
the A is with the Official box packaging!
the B is not with Official box packaging!

SO, the shipping fee of A is more than the B!

the other are the same!!

Thanks

I've asked again if either/both have the flap or elastic straps.

got another response; it seems the Type A is the one with the elastic bands holding the iPad in and the Type B is the one with the fold under flap. is one better than the other?

here's the seller's response:
Dear friends!

Introduction the three version about the YOOBAO genuine leather case for IPAD:

the shape and packaging are exactly the same.the first version normally is on sale in CHINA! the second and the third version are on overseas sales!

the first version YOOBAO genuine leather case, is made out on about MAY 1th,use friction to avoid sliding out!

the second version YOOBAO genuine leather case, compared with the first version YOOBAO genuine leather case, made a little change, only add "the cloth block wrapped structure"to stop sliding out, the link:http://cgi.ebay.com/YOOBAO-genuine-...s_Apple_Parts_Accessories&hash=item335d05296a

the third version YOOBAO genuine leather case, compared with the first version YOOBAO genuine leather case, made a little change, only add "two elastic cloth tape structure" to stop sliding out, the link:http://cgi.ebay.com/YOOBAO-genuine-...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item335ce7d35c

note: the price are the same between the second version and the third version. but the first version is less than the two version!

Go for the flap. I think they wwent with the straps because its cheaper to produce, and you can count on one of them tearing soon enough.

Well crap...looks like even though I bought mine same day as others (May 22), I'm getting the cheap elastic strap things. He claims that he has MULTIPLE "iPad A/iPad B" links and depending on which one you click, you'll get either the straps or the flap.

Make sure you order the right one....he's subbing in straps for flap orders and now claims the only difference is packaging or no packaging.

I think the elastic straps are going to stretch in no time flat, making them useless.

Rather than worry about picking the wrong auction I would recommend emailing him for a price quote on exactly the one you want and sending payment directly with specific instructions in the payment for the right one. That's the route I took and got exactly what I wanted. You lose a little bit of the security of eBay but still have some Paypal safeguards and he has a good rating on eBay and i can vouch as a satisfied customer. I'm not sure if the seller would want his email listed here so send me a pm if you need it.

I also received my new and improved (with the flap) Yoobao leather case today. I purchased mine from the eBay seller "ebesthoo168" and paid extra for EMS (priority mail) shipping. The seller shipped it on Saturday from Hong Kong and I received it on Thursday (4 working days) in Denver, Colorado.

Of course I did a video review comparing the new case to the old one, here you go:

Thnks for the video, I love your videos very well made and articulate.

As to my opinion on the newer case, I prefer the older one for the following reasons.

- more protection on the sides, I don't like how the chintz out on the the side coverage, as a matter of fact I prefer full coverage.

- I don't like the spline and the more boxy shape, to me the older design is more organic and compact. Lower profile if you will

- also I bet it did add some weight to it.

Thanks for the videos, awesome stuff! I have one question: since the new hole for the ambient light sensor is a little small and the leather is quite thick, I was wondering if it still functions perfectly. I know it's not obscured, but I wondered if it was slightly impeded. Have you noticed any difference in auto brightness functionality?

I have tested the screen brightness with auto brightness on and off both inside and outside of the case and it works the same in the case. The cutout is perfectly aligned with the light sensor.

Sweet. I'll definitely pick up this case.

Cool, what seller did you buy it from?

The seller was dplxy from CA. Fantastic experience with great communication. He was actually out of them when I emailed him and asked if he would be geting more in. He said, yes and that he would send me a message over ebay when more came in. I was skeptical, but he held up his part, and sent me an email. I bought it for $37.99 with the flap and it arrived in 3-4 days. Here is the link to the expired listing.

I would suggest emailing him for more information.

Care to share a quick pic or two?

The above link has some home taken pictures that are spot on.

If anyone is interested in purchasing my original Yoobao case, the one without the flap in my first video, send me a pm.

i can also vouch for dplxy. i ordered off of him on ebay and received my case 2 days after ordering (And i ordered in the late afternoon, around 3PM PST).

the one thing is, though, he did ship me a case without the flap, even though the picture in the auction showed a flap. i e-mailed him, and he said he'd exchange it (and he even offered to send me a flapped version for $20 if i wanted to keep the original). he paid for my return shipping, and i'm still waiting for the flapped version. based on his quick communication and having already received his payment for the return shipping, i expect to receive the flapped version shortly. if you order through him, you might want to specify that you do want the version with flap, just to spare the exchange process.

I got mine today - revision 1 with flap. It looks promising, but it smelled so bad I have it sitting in a windowsill right now hoping to rid it of the awful smell before I start using it.

For others who have it, how long did it take for the smell to subside? I had read about the smell before, but didn't expect it to be SO bad...

I've had mine since 5/18 (without flap) and it still smells!
