I really like the show for asking questions about consciousness, identity, free will. There are so many ways to interpret Severance. You could see it as rich people who enjoy their nice lives but their goods are produced by slavery that they willingly ignore. Or your own unwillingness to face your traumas, forcing them into your subconscious. It's a very interesting metaphor. And all this is achieved using very minimal tools, very few characters, simple interactions, one main location, etc. Good things don't have to be complicated or over-the-top to be effective at conveying a message.

The premise is very similar to The Island, the weird humor reminds me of Portal, the visual style is like The Cube or Ex Machina, the philosophy could be inspired by The Matrix.

I wonder who, OR WHAT AI wrote this.
I don't know about this 'real' book, but the passages read out in the show plumb new heights of "so bad it's good" that I don't think AI could pull it off (unless AI now stands for "Artificial Irony").

I love the show - but it's more "funny peculiar" than comedic - however, the "book" extracts actually made me laugh.

All of the subtle jokes are going over your head I see. The show is simply brilliant in its mockery.
At this point there is absolutely nothing brilliant about it. Meaning to episode 5. Four people working in an all white room, all white maze of a building. Four varying personalities. I guess you could call their interactions funny.
This is coming from a guy that watches ALOT of tv. I'm a professional. :)

Haha…

Interesting to see this. Will check out this one. Severance is a very good show.

I was disappointed by the way they handled the start of season 2 after the cliffhanger ending of season 1, it’s like they ignored it entirely and just gathered everyone back at the office…

That’s what they call nonlinear storytelling.

That’s how I felt - but then the next episode…
…told the “outie” version of the same story, picking up directly from the cliffhanger, and turned that on its head. The writers actually pranked us with a spoof “lazy writing” plot reset!
