AT&T today announced a new promotion that allows potential new customers to try out the AT&T network for 30 days for free.

Customers with an iPhone that has an eSIM can download the myAT&T app or visit the AT&T free trial website to sign up for temporary access to the AT&T network. No credit card is required for the AT&T trial, which includes 5G access.

Compatible iPhones with eSIM capabilities include the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone SE 2020 and all later models, but note that devices must be unlocked. Testing AT&T's network through the Try AT&T feature does not require transferring a phone number or canceling current service. It instead operates as a second line on a compatible iPhone, with options to switch between the AT&T test and another carrier plan.

AT&T is providing unlimited talk and text, 100GB of data, 25GB of personal hotspot data, AT&T 5G access, and unlimited texting from the United States to more than 230 countries. After the 30-day trial ends, service will be canceled automatically, but customers will have the option to sign up for AT&T service.

Both Verizon and T-Mobile have previously rolled out programs that allow customers to test their networks for free, but AT&T is offering 25GB of hotspot data, which neither Verizon or T-Mobile support.

I've been AT&T customer forever. So I don't get anything.

(was there an ad with something similar?)

Thanks, I guess! I mean, they all should do this but don't expect much when there's only a COUPLE of true competitors that own spectrum. The only loyalty people should and do have is to what reception they get from who and where!

No thank you, about close to 15 years ago they screwed me over and I have sworn to myself I will never ever again give them a single penny of mine, then had VZ and for the past 6 months or so TMobile, very happy with them.

Does anything stop you from getting the services for 30 days, letting it expire, Restoring the device and doing it again?

I wish we had this in Europe (France more precisely) where a mobile provider enables you to try out their network. Great for the consumer to make their choice based on their use case.

That's brutal. I roamed for free in Canada on AT&T via Telus I think. My Instagram is permanently on kilometers now, no idea why ;)
I'm between the US and Canada all the time. AT&T seems to have the best plan for us that live on the border. I connect to Bell, Telus or Rogers when in Canada and the data speeds are usually faster than AT&T in the U.S.

BEWARE: knowing them, there's got to be some hidden hook here... if not several. If you are going to try this, scrutinize the fine print. I near fully doubt they are generously giving away a month without a hook.

Initial wild (completely uninformed) guesses: auto-renewal for high fees, locked phone, free* only if you then take a lengthy contract, permanent forehead tattoo of their logo so you are a mobile advertiser for life, 1+ years of indentured servitude, first born, 3 vital organs of their choosing, immortal soul, etc. All of the above? Some of those are jokes... hopefully. With AT&T, you just never know. ;)

Caveat emptor!
