Guessing that they do some lengthy signup process, check ID, existing phone number, etc.? Otherwise, I wonder how they will stop people traveling to the US from just using this for free phone/internet when they visit. And if not, well, the E-SIM companies that are geared around travelers just needing data, will see a cut in their US revenue.

I’ve had no issues with AT&T — they have great coverage in my area and widespread “5G+” deployment, but I made T-Mobile my primary carrier this past week because their standalone 5G network just works better (much better latency than AT&T, though AT&T’s 5G+ was generally faster than T-Mobile’s 5GUC), but I still have AT&T as the carrier for my iPad Pro.

ive been doing this net coast thing for like 6 mohts now. switched from mint to visible to t mobile to att. still have my original number just using dual sim for free internet

In my area, T-Mobile gives me the best reception and service. I tried ATT Mobile and it was spotty where I live and that caused me to switch to Mint Mobile who's been using T-M for several years. Though that's a nice free offer.

I signed up this afternoon and will give it a try. I've had T-Mobile for 12 years, but recently signed up for AT&T Fiber and they offer a 20% discount if you have wireless also. At work at least the speeds are higher than T-Mobile. If the trial is good over the next few weeks I'll consider switching.

The convenience is pretty cool, right now I have it set for main data from AT&T and voice from them also. But incoming calls will still ring my main number from T-Mobile, and I can switch back easily from the cellular menu if I want.

I have been hearing rumbles that T-mobile might make changes to us Sprint absorbed customers once the 5 year price guarantee expires in April 2025.

So I have taken up AT&T's offer (I now have 2 services in my iPhone 15PM)

not looking good so far! 1 bar for AT&T at home 4 bars on T-mobile. I will keep on checking...

Ugh. That doesn’t look good. May I ask what part of the country you are in? I get one to two bars from T-Mobile at home and generally rely on wifi calling when I am there. What bothers me more is when I drive to more rural areas not that far from home and lose the radio stations (and SiriusXM) that I would be streaming for several minutes at a time.

One of these days they actually might have coverage at my house which is minutes from YouTube HQ. Multiple calls, even up to the office of the president haven't helped.

AT&T is the last carrier I would consider for many reasons - crippling and increasing cost of grandfathered plan, destroying DirectTV, etc. However decided to try it just for kicks since T-Mobile at my home isn't great. Got nowhere - "We're having trouble downloading your eSIM".

No thank you, about close to 15 years ago they screwed me over and I have sworn to myself I will never ever again give them a single penny of mine, then had VZ and for the past 6 months or so TMobile, very happy with them.
AT&T is the only one of the big 3 I’ve had a somewhat acceptable experience with

Edit: I want to clarify I’m not talking about reception. I had great reception with Verizon in NY.

Been on AT&T for over a decade, and their service around NYC and Long Island is terrible. Thinking about finally switching providers.
I live in Nassau County and in the city frequently. I’ve tried all of the big 3 and have had fantastic service with AT&T (currently) and Verizon. T-Mobile was atrocious, especially their 5G.

I wouldn’t touch AT&T with a 50 m pole. If I had known T-Mobile was going to set up a tower a month after I signed up with AT&T, I never would’ve switched. As it stands, I tell my clients whichever carrier you have the best coverage with is the one you use. I’m sticking with Verizon. My current plan includes Apple One and that saves me about $12 a year not having to pay for iCloud+ 50GB separately.

Verizon screwed me with nickle and diming, and even literally changed (or tried to) the contract mid way for my hotspot.

AT&T was overpriced after they stopped phone subsidies and their Prepaid was unsecure and reps were tough to understand.

T-Mobile was OK under the last guy but is slowly becoming a turd. They held my Netflix account hostage and wouldn't let me keep basic even though I asked them to leave it alone. If they force a change in my plan I'm going to T-Mo Connect where I don't have to deal with the postpaid drama.

They literally all suck terribly.

I would have stayed on AT&T if they didn't raise my grandfathered unlimited plan to $90.

The constant push for Direct TV was annoying too given the local cable monopoly.

This has been available in their app for at least 23 days already.

I signed up for the trial when the Verizon outage happened less than a month ago.

Thanks, I guess! I mean, they all should do this but don't expect much when there's only a COUPLE of true competitors that own spectrum. The only loyalty people should and do have is to what reception they get from who and where!
They all do now. AT&T was the last one to the party.

There are a bunch of Canadian plans that offer US roaming in the package now, for example I have a Public Mobile plan for $34/month that allows me to use my minutes and my 50GB of data interchangeably in either country. It's great for those of us that live close enough to the border that our phones occasionally jump between towers and avoids extra fees every time I got on vacation or visit extended family in the States.
You are paying too much, I pay $5 less and get 200GB unlimited 5G+ service plus CAN/US/MX.

Would that work as a free replacement for a Travel sim, if You’re only staying a couple of weeks in the US?
