"25GB of personal hotspot data"
How does at&t know you're using hot spot feature?
The know, just like other carriers. Many plans come with a limited amount of HotSpot. My bill even shows me how much I have used.

my canadian carrier (freedom mobile) has unlimited hotspot (throttled after 50GB). ($30 cad/month, about $20 usd). The know, just like other carriers. Many plans come with a limited amount of HotSpot. My bill even shows me how much I have used.
Ugh. That doesn’t look good. May I ask what part of the country you are in? I get one to two bars from T-Mobile at home and generally rely on wifi calling when I am there. What bothers me more is when I drive to more rural areas not that far from home and lose the radio stations (and SiriusXM) that I would be streaming for several minutes at a time.not looking good so far! 1 bar for AT&T at home 4 bars on T-mobile. I will keep on checking...
Like other carriers, when a device is tethered, the operating system lets the carrier know it's a different data type."25GB of personal hotspot data"

AT&T is the only one of the big 3 I’ve had a somewhat acceptable experience withNo thank you, about close to 15 years ago they screwed me over and I have sworn to myself I will never ever again give them a single penny of mine, then had VZ and for the past 6 months or so TMobile, very happy with them.
I live in Nassau County and in the city frequently. I’ve tried all of the big 3 and have had fantastic service with AT&T (currently) and Verizon. T-Mobile was atrocious, especially their 5G.Been on AT&T for over a decade, and their service around NYC and Long Island is terrible. Thinking about finally switching providers.
Verizon screwed me with nickle and diming, and even literally changed (or tried to) the contract mid way for my hotspot. No thank you, about close to 15 years ago they screwed me over and I have sworn to myself I will never ever again give them a single penny of mine, then had VZ and for the past 6 months or so TMobile, very happy with them.
I would have stayed on AT&T if they didn't raise my grandfathered unlimited plan to $90.AT&T is the last carrier I would consider for many reasons - crippling and increasing cost of grandfathered plan, destroying DirectTV, etc. However decided to try it just for kicks since T-Mobile at my home isn't great. Got nowhere - "We're having trouble downloading your eSIM".
They all do now. AT&T was the last one to the party. Thanks, I guess! I mean, they all should do this but don't expect much when there's only a COUPLE of true competitors that own spectrum. The only loyalty people should and do have is to what reception they get from who and where!
They know your esim identifier.Does anything stop you from getting the services for 30 days, letting it expire, Restoring the device and doing it again?
Don’t worry, all three of them get hacked every few years so unless you don’t have a cell phone your info will be out there no matter whatBe sure to give AT&T all of your personal info so it can be stolen when they are inevitably hacked again in a few months.
You are paying too much, I pay $5 less and get 200GB unlimited 5G+ service plus CAN/US/MX.There are a bunch of Canadian plans that offer US roaming in the package now, for example I have a Public Mobile plan for $34/month that allows me to use my minutes and my 50GB of data interchangeably in either country. It's great for those of us that live close enough to the border that our phones occasionally jump between towers and avoids extra fees every time I got on vacation or visit extended family in the States.
