YES! I find it a little disturbing that these brilliant 90's tunes that give me high school nostalgia are being considered oldies. The cheek of it!

A couple of years ago my oldest niece was telling us about how she liked listening to a certain radio station that played music from the 80's. She referred to it as an "oldies" station.

I still can't believe (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, which IMO is the best album of the 90s, is 15 years old. I remember when it first came out. I remember watching the video for Don't Look Back In Anger when it premiered on MTV.

That's another way to know you're old...when you remember when MTV showed music videos.

I like it when the young people in our lives (kids of friends, nieces and nephews) "discover" a new song that is actually a just tune from our youthful times being covered (usually sampled). The best part is when we start to tell them that we remember when we heard "new" song for the first time - and if we can we then talk about how romantic it was, and look at each other. Gets their eyes glazing over in record time, every time.

I feel old when I have to explain to the computer hot-shots just what a punch-card was (my first introduction to computers).

When the Heathkit Pong was your first game. Consisted of a line on each side of the screen and a white dot that you bounced between them.

I've found that when discussing music, it's best to pretend the 80s didn't happen.

Austin Powers summed up the 80s perfectly: "There was a gas shortage and a flock of seagulls. That's about it." :p

Old

I agree, I felt old when I realized that most of the athletes on TV are younger than me, and everyone serving me food or helping at retail stores was younger than me.

Also, the last time I made it out to the ski hill made me feel terribly old, even though I'm not, at all! I must not age well

I'm only 24 years old and started feeling old when I saw professional athletes that are younger than me.

I'm coming up on the age where pro athletes my age are considered over the hill.

Haha. QFT.

I must have been the oldest kid in the world, then. I grew up in the 80's listening to my parents' 60's music, and nobody else seemed to notice that "I Think We're Alone Now" was a cover. Or Mony Mony. Or Hazy Shade of Winter.... Also (in the 90's, when I was a teen), the Pearl Jam cover of Last Kiss stands out.

Another YES! Glad I got to see it in its heyday. I had such a fulfilling musical education late nights watching Headbanger's Ball.

P.S. Bite your tongue about 80's music. Some BRILLIANT tunes to come out of that era! I've got a massive Spotify playlist I'm working on filled with 80's goodness!

You mean like this? :D

I still have that one from days gone by...

....

For my birthday (not saying which one!) my wife found a punch card emulator website. You type in your message - specify which "input character set" to use, it then creates an image of a punchcard with your message punched out. I thought it was ironic my party invitation was an emailed punchcard message....

I wish I had kept some of my old punch cards! :D

Your back aches for no alcohol-related reason.
You get angry because a noise woke you up at 10:30PM.
You can't sleep past 6AM.
Your children are taller than you are.
You are shorter than you were a year ago.
You stop looking forward to your birthday.
You can't find anything to watch on TV on a Friday night.
You are watching TV on a Friday night.

saturday my boyfriend calls me at 645am because he needs me to drive his wallet to the gas station where hes at. he didnt have enough gas to get home to get his wallet he forgot.

yesterday he calls me to come home early because he forgot his keys in the house and hes locked out.

today i get an email from him that states "forgot my cell phone on the night stand...i told you i need a day off to refresh."

I still watch (well, tivo) Headbanger's Ball every week! \m/

I guess one could say, "I remember when MTV2 was called MTV."?

*fist bump* Is it re-runs or is this a totally new one? I think I remember it being cancelled right around the time I was graduating high school.

I'm not sure if it's broadcast the same way in the US but we've discovered "Mtv Classic" channel and they play some decent videos. I still shudder at what they consider "classics" though. (Nirvana?! WTF?!) Feelin' the age. :D

It's new.. no Rikki Rachman, occasional guest band hosts (usually that I've never heard of). BIG variations of the types of metal they play..

You know you are getting old when you go somewhere in the house to get something, but when you arrive you forgot what you went there for.

I am sure many older members -- and maybe some of our younger members -- have experienced that.

I'm constantly doing that, and I'm only seventeen! My memory is just awful.
