The ten-year interval between 1970 and 1980 seemed forever to me when I was a kid.

OTOH, 2000 seems like yesterday.

That's how I know I'm getting old.

this is the most scary way to describe what makes you feel old and sadly its so true. 2040 to 2050 will feel like a very short time if it happens at all:eek:

When I realize my co-worker was not born when I was rocking Duran Duran and doesn't even know who Alf was.

I also get a kick when cashiers call me "Sir" now. (I'm only 35).

Worst part is going to the grocery store hearing Duran Duran and U2 on the stores pumped in music channel.

Yup, I even remember watching the debut of MTV. Video Killed the Radio Star. Ah, good times, good times.

I remember that too barely, the drugs I took as a teenager less than a decade later from it's launching for some reason couldn't seem to wipe away some horribly cheesy music video memories though LOL. You are getting old when your favorite metal bands are being played on VH1 classic.
Edit:
Add to that Henry Rollins from Black Flag doing a live conversation piece
or seeing Johnny Rotten hosting a talk show

I started feeling old when I mentioned watching the moon landings and a coworker didn't want to admit that they happened before she was born.

LOL! In Muzak form? That would be truly awful as I would still be tapping my foot to it. :D

No not in Muzak and they were playing KISS and GnR today, this is not some obscure little tofu and bean sprout outlet either but a major northeast grocery chain.

Sad thing is I know I am old now though since I know what "Muzak" is LOL

You know you're old when it takes a few seconds of scrolling on the dropdown box for Year of birth .

When one of the best friends of a younger cousin of mine asked me out on a date and I almost swallowed my tongue, when she jokingly said "You could be my Mrs Robinson" (she's 24, I'm 35 -.-).

What makes you feel old?

When you remember 14.4k dial up and dot matrix printers as being "state of the art"
When a 27" Sony Trinatron was considered a " kick a** tv"
Being amazed at a reel to reel tape deck
Loving 8 Tracks
When you could actually see the ground through the engine compartment of a car..

She probably has a Daddy fetish, I say go for it....but you don't have to--just one pervs opinion LOL

you are only as young as the ones you feel!

Didn't wanna pay extra for that undercoat did ya? :D

s/90's/80's/

A couple of years ago my oldest niece was telling us about how she liked listening to a certain radio station that played music from the 80's. She referred to it as an "oldies" station.

I remember when so many "oldies" being played on the Classic Rock stations today were played on the "cutting edge/New Wave" station thirty years ago (e.g. the Police's "Don't Stand So Close to Me.")

You mean like this? :D

I still have that one from days gone by...

Now, I never worked in a place that had punchcards, but one of my first jobs had computers still using magnetic tape reels...

Another YES! Glad I got to see it in its heyday. I had such a fulfilling musical education late nights watching Headbanger's Ball.
Pffft. I remember "I.R.S. Records' The Cutting Edge" on MTV.

BTW - remember Nina Blackwood, one of the original VJs? She was the blond who did the late-night shift. She always had this tic where her head would twitch at random intervals. I used to love turning down the sound and watch her twitch --- twitch -- twitch. Hilarious!:D

P.S. Bite your tongue about 80's music. Some BRILLIANT tunes to come out of that era! I've got a massive Spotify playlist I'm working on filled with 80's goodness!
See, it's funny how I used to think a lot of this stuff was crap when it came out (I was a total 60's retro-head) and now I kinda like it...

My older brother had one of those!

Nope, hated those even back in the day...

............ when lunch time arrives and either you're already exhausted from the day's activities or,
the 6th coffee still hasn't kicked-in and you wish you were somewhere else,
ANYWHERE ELSE!
please, please
GET ME OUTTA HERE!

EDIT: oh yeah, I forgot? ........... you used Compuserve.

You really know that you're getting old when you still remember Adam Ant - I want my MTV!!!

And when you check out music videos on youtube of songs that you like, everybody has weird hairstyles and are wearing bell-bottoms.

Only VERY vaguely. I wonder if she had Tourette's. I think she may have left right around the time I was taking interest in Mtv. I do remember Martha Quinn though and I think she was around the same era but may have stuck around longer. Duff and Riki Rachtman were more my Mtv heyday era. Oooh, and Kurt Loder with the news!
