Wait for some time

In my view, the best thing to do is to wait a few days and allow the dust to settle. It's always a good practice NOT to buy any product immediately upon launch since the likelihood for faulty units are relatively high upfront. Waiting a little also increases the selection of Retina-ready apps and other accessories that you can choose from. I will buy the new iPad most definitely, but I'll wait until mid-April or so.

People only come here to post their problems. People don't come to post "my iPad is perfect." Because they're busy using theirs.

By the way, my iPad 3 is without fault. Just like my iPad 2. And just like my original iPad.

And if it's not, Apple will honor the warranty and replace it.

You're never going to get a "perfect iPad", it's like a mythical creature. It's a unicorn.

But that shouldnt stop you from buying one. The reason is that there is a very good chance that you will get one that works well, but that has some slight cosmetic imperfections that you can live with. Over the course of daily use, you eventually forget about these little imperfections and really start enjoying the iPad for all that it can do and allows you to do.

Yes, some defects you really can't live with. One third of my screen is yellow, and the rest is really crisp white. This is something I can't live with as it will distract me. When I exchange it, if I get one with a dead pixel on the edge of the screen but the screen is evenly tinted and not yellow, I will keep it. That is a defect that I can reasonably live with as it wont distract me during my day to day use. If the dead pixel is dead in the center, then that would be a deal breaker and back to Apple it will go.

As most often occurs in life, I have accepted the fact that happiness is not going to come easy, even when it should. But that is not going to stop me from pursuing my happiness. If you really want an iPad, there is one out there for you. Dont get discouraged so easily by all of the reports of defects. They have a purpose, and it's not to discourage you, but to inform you so that you can make a better decision.

My screen has a slight yellow tint
My iPad runs slightly warmer than my old iPad

I friggin love my new iPad and wouldn't trade it for anything.
