I've used the PixelSkin HD the most. It's my favorite, hands down. I just received the Grove case today, but I'm liking it so far!

Another vote for the PixelSkin HD/Geometric case! See, it's a great all around case. I'm still surprised Apple picked it for their free case program. The only downside that I can see is that in a few weeks when everyones free PixelSkins arrive, you're going to see this case EVERYWHERE! so much for uniqueness! Lol.

Don't worry, not everyone will have the Pixelskin. I actually think it looks hideous and cheapens the look of the phone (IMHO).

LOL!

You look like a buddy I know that has more iPad cases than anyone person should have! :D

For now I have settled in on just the Case-Mate Carbon Fiber Combo case for my iPhone 4 and the Apple Case for my iPad here so far.

You know what's odd? :p I'm only a case junkie with my phone. I have some cheapie case for my iPad. I haven't found any yellow faux leather cases I like for it, & I'm dead set on having yellow faux leather!

Ex case junkie here

I spent a lot of money on cases for my 3G and my 3gs. I have itsmemorphious on YouTube to blame for that. When I purchased my i4 I made a promise to myself to buy no more than 2 cases. I have gotten 3 bumpers (all refunded) one eBay case (refunded), griffin reveal, griffin outfit ice (free replacement), incase snap (free), otterbox defender (returned).

So I think I'm just going to keep a look out for a case that I know I really want before I buy out of impulse.

My own list:

  1. Bumpers (Blue, Green, Black)
  2. Incase Snap (Clear, Smoke)
  3. Incase Slider (Black)
  4. Speck Candyshell (Black, Dark purple)
  5. Vapor (Black/Red)
  6. Griffin Reveal (Smoke I believe)
  7. 6 or so Ebay cases, both hard and silicone

None of these really work for me. The bumper was ok, but I'm not a fan of the super bright or the black. The Candyshell and Incase Slider are about equal, though if I could have the Slider feel on a Candyshell I'd be sold, even if I find my phone gets a bit warm inside a Candyshell. Hate the super shiny, but love the volume buttons ala apple bumper.

All these were either free or sold on ebay, so overall I've actually made more than I spent. (The Vapor obviously went a long way for that XD)

I've always been a Vaja case person actually, but I'm not a fan of their i4 designs. Hoping to get a case that's something entirely different (well not that different I guess), like a 4voi with a strap, or give up and get a slip case for protection and some sort of tape fix for the antenna.

But as of now...I've basically given up on cases, and my phone has some minor scratches on it (though it's my second one after one of the volume buttons broke, and I know at least one of the larger scratches came with the phone).

Wow haha, that's a lot of cases! I only have three.

Apple bumper (white and black)
Some silicon cheap case from eBay.

That's it lol.

Here's my collection...

1st row = replicase in 4 different colors, white, pink, turqouise, hot pink
2nd Row = white incase slider, incipio NGP matte from Walmart, casemate barely there clear, ifrogz luxe lean
3rd row = apple bumpers in black and white
Lucky labs spectra wraps in white, cotton candy pink and orange (not pictured)

I also have the incase snap smoke case coming tomorrow and the clear one coming as my free case in September. Can you say case-fetish?!

I'd say all of us picture posters in this thread have a case fetish...or obsession...or something wrong with us! :D

I have:

-black bumper
-parent's Griffin Motif
-Geometric
-Luxury Mobile Argyle TPU
-PixelSkin (not HD, the silicone one)
-white Incase slider.

Case's I no longer have:
-Red Defender (returned)
-CandyShell (returned)
-CandyShell revised (returned)

On the way:
-Pixelskin HD

I really like the white incase slider. Possibly more than my geometric since I'm considering using it as my daily driver.

PixelSkin is good protection but bulky. I had the Defender in red, but returned -- way too bulky. I had the CandyShell but returned -- rubber flaked, scratched like hell, cam flash issue, and not a perfect fit. Bought the revised version a couple days ago, returned it same day. The lock button rubber was recessed, the buttons didn't feel as good -- I just didn't like the feel of it anymore after trying other cases.

So far, Incase Slider and Geometric are my favorite of the bunch.

The bumper is great but I'd be afraid if I drop it, it will offer zero protection.

incase slider feels great, looks great, and it makes my phone white again with a white border. Reminds me of my white 3GS :)

What do you guys think of the incase slider? compared to pixelskin hd/geometric?

Geometric plus:
-unique design
-nice TPU feel
-love the raised buttons for lock/volume keys -- easy to hit
-thin enough, seems protective
-not flat, feels good in the hand, nice groove
-easy to take off

Cons:
-a bit of wiggling in the case (not too much though or enough to worry about it falling out)
-How protective is it? I don't know
-smudging with the shiny parts
-sometimes looks great from certain angles, other times ugly
-not flat, impossible to use without wobbling on a table
-bubbles screen protector if certain pressure is applied to the lip

Incase slider pros:
-sturdy as can be
-feels like great protection
-easy to slide on and off from the bottom for connectors
-white looks great on my black iphone! especially the white border
-feels really nice
-flat for table use

cons:
-slightly recessed home/volume buttons in the case
-some reports of it scratching the side (can't say -- don't care much since I'll probably always case it, I'm afraid of drops)
-$35 is a bit hefty for what it is, but I had rewardzone points.
-can't use screen protector without bubbling (but I don't use a screen protector)

That's my dad's i4 with a big apple sticker thrown on his Luxury Mobile Argyle TPU haha. Also, a piece of scotch tape is in the bottom right there, it got misplaced from when I was trying to fix his antenna issue haha. I don't think hehas the problem anymore with the case anyways.

The same case is to the left of it (another LuxMo Argyle). Not going to label all the cases aforementioned because they should be self-explanatory. If not, feel free to ask! Also, the AT&T chair is something I got from a friend who was at a fair years ago. I have no further info.

thadoggfather:

I understand that the Pixelskin HD is thinner than the regular Pixelskin so maybe that will way your decision. I do like the Incase Slider but I can't use it since I use a screen protector. The picture you posted of the white incase slider makes it look like you have a screen protector on your phone (and a fingerprint magnet at that!). Is that just an optical illusion or is there a screen protector on the phone in that picture?

No screen protector.

I'm actually back to the geometric. The white incase slider looks great but the shiny finish makes it slippery and I fear dropping the phone.

Which do you prefer?

I still prefer the Geometric/PixekSkin HD. I just don't like slick, glossy backed cases, which many of the incase Sliders are (= no grip...the slick plastic gets very slippery/nasty feeling from body/hand oils). I know they have soft-touch finished backs as well, in fact, the gun metal Slider I have has one. But, as has already been mentioned in this thread, I've already seen some pretty significant antenna scratching from taking it on and off, and it's incompatible with most, if not all, screen protectors.

Yeah I ended up returning the slider.

Also, reports of scratching scared me. Not that I care that much, but if I'm paying $35 for a case, it shouldn't cause scratches (or have the threat of).

NGP matte ftw!

This is just iPhone 4 cases in my desk drawer at work. I have more at home. And don't get me started on iPhone 3G/3GS cases...I have over 60 of those!

Wow! That's quite a collection you got there! Out of those "many" which build has the best protection?

Wow! That's quite a collection you got there! Out of those "many" which build has the best protection?

I've added to the list since then. Also now have an Otterbox Defender black, Ballistic case, and a Casecrown Glider (black). For best protection, it's no question the Otterbox Defenders or the Ballistic case. I really liked this case (Ballistic), but the port/headphone covers were on the optional outer silicone layer, which I didn't want to use, so I had to give up the port covers....which I like (so that I'm protected against any accidental water/moisture entry into the dock connector or headphone jack which will void the warranty). But as far as protection, I'd say it's tied for the top spot with the Defenders. But you get the bulk with that. For the best compromise of protection and style without too much bulk I'd say the CandyShells. I'd say they offer almost as much protection as the Defender, but aren't near as bulky.
