Which adapter? If you mean microUSB, I was told "next month" as well last weekend, but when I went into the store today that had had unexpected stock arrive early.
30pin does seem to be totally OOS though.

Just ordered mine for pick up in a near by store. Store shows as in stock. About how long did it take you all to get a "Ready for Pick-Up Email"?
Ordered mine! Thanks for this thread. Showed as in stock even though there were none there when I was there yesterday. Got my email in about an hour. Going to pick it up on Monday
How funny! when i was opening my iPhone 5 box while going through the activation...mine didn't even come with the USB+Lightning Cable! so i called Apple the next day and told them about my issue/situation, they then sent me one the day after i called. 
After reading the Gizmodo article on the mysterious chips found inside the OEM lightning cable, I'm not sure we'll see any viable aftermarket solutions for a while.

I picked up another cable this morning at the local Apple store - the entire wall was full of them. This was in Mission Viejo.

This method no longer works for me.
The Apple Store website says that "This item is not available for pickup".

Many of the Sprint stores have them in stock...Matter of fact you buy 2 accessories you get 20% off YMMV. I am a Verizon customer and I was able to get 20% off. They are $19 each

Apple stores in central Fla have plenty of the lightning cables on the wall. Even the Jax, Fla Apple store have them in stock.
Every one of the local Sprint stores and the Apple Store in Tampa have plenty in stock.

But you'll spend $500 on a cell phone...I'm seeing plenty of availability near me, I just don't want to pay the $19
I just bought two lightning cables at the Sprint store in Farmington Hills and they gave me the 20% off no problem even though I am an ATT customer. Now, I have one for home, one for my car and one for work. If Apple is really going to keep using these for ten years, this was money well spent. I just hope the adapter which is supposed to arrive tomorrow works with my Kipsch and iHome speaker docks....
