To charge it in my bedroom, at work, sync it with the computer, another one for the car, a few spares to have etc....
I don't need one, but having one at home and work is more convenient.

I don't think that Monoprice will charge the same for a cable with that chip compared to a cable that didn't need a chip. I expect te cheap knock-offs to come in around $5.
I heard the discount won't apply to the apple stuff. I'll give it a try this weekend.
I picked one up from Birmingham Bullring the other day, loads of stock.
No stock of the adapters till next month tho.

Oh alright. Never thought of it like that because in my car I just use the adapter or music over Bluetooth & at work my iPhone its always charged. When I get home ill have around 40%. So really, I only need 1. To sync you can use the same one it came with. But I mostly do wifi syncing now.
I ordered four of those on 9/25, the same day I ordered my phones, and got them ages ago. Now I just need the phones.
Sometimes I need to charge it at home, at work, in the car etc...
You never know when you're going to run low on battery and if you forget to charge it sometime and the only wire you have is left at work then you're stuck.

I got an otterbox and incipio case at the discounted price though... oh well. Keep me (us) posted if it works for you. I'd consider getting one if I can get a discount on it.

Called several Apple stores in the SF Valley looking for some Lightning - USB cables.
Finally found some at the Apple Store in Glendale, CA.
When I got there they had about 25 on the shelf (10/12 @ 1800).

Picked one up from an O2 store in London, they had loads. Same price, £15.
Gotta say, I'm loving the feel and ease of use. It's also very very sturdy compared to the old one.
I do think it is a bit of a rip-off but it was time they changed it to something better/smaller.
