Depending on age $10M is unlikely to really be enough to live off for the rest of your life. At least at anything significantly above a moderate life style. So yes I'd keep the job.

Assuming you are 25 and live until the age of 80 thats $181,818.18 a year after taxes and not factoring interest earned on your money or possible investments. Most people dont make anywhere near that much in their jobs. And depending in what part of the country you live you can have a very nice lifestyle with that kind of money.

I would quit and travel the world, when I return, go to school for something I like.

$10 million is a lot. Sure you can't buy a new Ferrari every year or buy a private jet, but it's certainly very liveable.

I would keep working, but part time instead of full time. It gives me some time away from the wife and kids. And my lottery winnings, after the wife and kids taxes, would amount a cool nickle.:p

I'd like to take a 2-3 week vacation right off the bat. Then come back on a very "part time" basis. They can cut my salary by a large margin and I'll come into work from 10AM to 2-3PM, Tuesday through Thursday. :)

I feel like it'd be good to keep some type of job so I have something to do and some semblance of a regular life with a routine to it. However, I don't know how fair it would be for me to keep my job when I don't really *need* the money, when there are other people out there who need the money and would really like my job.

$10 mil after taxes? I would probaby quit my job and do something part-time I enjoy.

Conservatively invested today, you could take in ~$40k a month in dividends. More than enough to live an extremely comfortable life (IMHO). :)

Some things comes to mind like a parking attendant at Disney World - its basically my dream job :D

Not sure about being a parking attendant, but I'd love to (just for fun) operate the parking trams or monorails for a month or two. :D

But yeah, I think I would start finding quirky jobs that would interest me (maybe not that quirky though, haha)

I would keep my job, but I would work part time. Maybe 3 days a week, just enough to cover the monthly bills so I won't have to dig into my interest.

If I won the lottery--any lottery--

I'd keep: my job, my mouth shut, my family even closer than ever, options open regarding financial investments, and, finally, my sanity (I hope).

You should be able to earn $4-500k a year off that. Depending on your other expenses, you could indeed buy a new Ferrari every year.

You could buy a private jet too. It wouldn't be a Gulfstream, and probably used, but a couple million would get you places. Or buy a fraction of a larger jet instead.

For me, after the new house and an S65 there's not much left to buy.

As I once told my immediate boss, the question isn't whether I'd stay or leave... the question is whether I'd stay long enough to say I'm leaving. ;)

----------

I would quite my current job but find another job, something more of a hobby but definitely a job to keep me busy.

But the real question is... would you stay on as moderator?

I'm reminded of this old joke.

A man comes home one day and says, "Guess what honey? Pack your bags, I won the lottery!" The wife squeals with delight and says, "That's great! Should I pack for the mountains or the beach?" He says, "I don't care, just get out!"

I couldnt give up my Job, its my life, but I would keep the win quiet, then sort out my family and secure my kids futures a bit more, there wouldnt be any partying, being teatotal it would be boring but there are a few charities I do some work for that I would help out and then after investing in some more berghaus boots and trying to visit the gym more often, I would be straight back to work.

I'm in high school so I don't have a job but I would still go to collage after high school and get a job.

Yes, you should go to college. You don't have to become a real doctor though. Just a bachelor's will do, or even an Associates, depending on what you want to do.

I don't have a job so it depends on what the job is, but hopefully it'll be a job that I won't want to leave.

I'd spend the money experimenting that job.

I own two businesses at the moment and if I ever won the lottery my wife and I would sell the businesses and walk away the moment we won. I enjoy working; however, I enjoy vacation and complete financial freedom a whole lot more.
