I assume there must be something important in the bottom of the case, didn’t see anything about that on here or their site, otherwise why not just put the airtag there and slim the case?
Yes, it's the rest of the remote.

AirTags should be built-in to every Apple product with a battery. It would make so much sense and be sooo useful. Especially for AirPods. The way it works now basically requires you to open the case for it to connect which is totally useless.
Bingo! It would act as a gateway drug for increased follow-on sales once people get experience with the find-me functionality.

Here's an alternate solution to the lost remote problem: 1, look under the papers you put on the coffee table. 2. look in between the sofa cushions and pillows. (if all else fails) 3, go to bed, wake up, tomorrow see remote sitting on a counter right where you had last set it down.

Low tech problem solving at it's finest.

This has got to be one of the most first world problems things I've seen in a while.

Imagine if someone told you 30 years ago that in the future, we'll have tracking technology to attach to our TV remotes so that it can tell us exactly where the remote is.

But isn't complaining this is a first world problem the very definition of first world problem?

Why doesn't Samsung or Google buy Tile and put it in all their personal devices for free? For that matter why doesn't Tile just give their product away for free??

Anyone think Apple is paying attention to all these home brew and third party solutions to making the Apple remote trackable? Clearly there is solid demand for that functionality.
