I agree iGary, I do understand why people need/want (yes WANT) to run windows.

But what's so surprising is just how damn happy everyone is about this. It's like all the previous PC/Windows bashing around here was just a rue to fit into the Mac Users profile. Now that Apple is facilitating windows it's like "Awesome! This is the best thing to ever happen to Macs!"

Quoted for truth/needs to be read again.

Seems to be the way of the Mac crowd.

"Boo...hiss...PPC forever, Intel blows!11! Intel is doomed!!!"

*--Apple switches to Intel--*

"Core-duo all the way, baby! PPC blows. Intel r0x0rz my s0x0rz!!one!!! Winblows and M$ are teh sux0rz...I'd never disgrace my Mac with taht rubbish!"

*--Boot Camp comes out--*

"YES!! We can install Windows on our Macs! Apple is sooo awesome! Brb...goin to buy more Apple stock."

.....long drown out sigh.....

I'm not complaining about Win on Mac; it's the "join the bandwaggon, then jump ship to join the next one" trend that is so annoying.

So who would intstall WinXP on a Mac?

Well, I'm sitting here in front of 3 machines, 2 keyboards, 2 mice and one monitor. Would I welcome the opportunity to ditch one piece of hardware, one keyboard and one mouse to run all the programs I absolutely have to have?

In a NY minute I would.

I'm in the same boat - I run OS X because I want to, and XP because it is necessary. Having both in the same machine makes my life easier.

That may be true for some people, but I see it more like this:

I'm stuck with PPC, so I will convince myself that higher clock speeds are not necessarily better so I don't get computer envy (even though most people here - myself included - have no need for the speed of what's out there today).
--switch to Intel--
Yay for fast things!

I don't like Windows and I don't want to use it all the time
--Boot Camp comes out--
Sweet! Now I can use those programs I needed a PC for, but since I can do them from my Mac (with a reboot) I don't have to use Windows all the time!

I was either going to have to buy a PC for law school or write all my exams by hand (which disadvantages you) until boot camp came out. Now I can happily await the upcoming Intel iBooks knowing that I will still be able to use OS X for all my day-to-day stuff, but when it's exam time I can bust out XP. Being able to run Windows on a Mac will actually make it where I have to use Windows less!

An example of the reason I have to keep rememinding my self that a large number of the apple zelots are not worth listening 2 and are in lack of a better word idoits who do not have there own opinian. But those people are the one that worship apple and anything apple saws or does is that of god and treated as such.

Is this a majority of them no I highly doute it (and I hope that it isnt because then there is little hope for the apple comminetty). But they are by far one of the loudest bunch.

I just have to keep rememeber that those people dont have their own opinan and just past over them knowing it is not worth my time. Now some are worth a few very good laughs. I will say a larger group does make intengent post and show clear signs of there knowleged and have there own opinans

i get them all the time, so i just tell that person that i love them and wish to make love to them
I'd try that, but some of them may be into that type of thing. :D And if you use the name eva and that pic on your IM profile, I have a feeling those who would say such things are more than likely really turned on by that. I still stand by my "just don't read it" comment. I get that it's annoying, but I'm working on getting me one of them life dealies I've heard so much about.

At least until this whole Windows thing dies down a bit. :p

It seems what's happened here is:

April 4, 2006 "Naa Windoze sucks and you don't need it for anything really. I can do everything and more on my Mac"

April 5, 2006 "Awsome! Now I can run *INSERT Windows only software*!"

So in the course of 24 hours Windows went from being a worthless, outdated, buggy OS to a perfectly useable OS with some great software selection.

Which I suppose is fine, it just seems a lot of people are more interested in having the most popular opinion rather than having one of their own.

Yes, but is it the same people flip-flopping, or different people who've been saying such things for awhile or remained silent before?

Is it a good thing? Yes. Is it a bad thing? Yes. There you go. Plus people change their minds.

Well I question if the people have their own opinan or there opinan is just what ever apple opinan is. It seems they flip their opinan the 2nd apple says otherwise. Leads me to beleive they zdo not have their own opinan

i just wonder about the questions we will soon be hearing all about windows related problems, urgh! Cheers Bootcamp;)

[edit] just another thought, we may even end up with a macrumors:OSX and macrumors:windows split when you type in 'macrumors.com'. 'Windows news and rumors you care about', 'osx news and rumors you care about' ...nice

No, Windows is still a pile of crap, but is now a pile of crap we have the option of using.

There is one particular piece of Windows-only software I've wanted to have for quite some time.

I couldn't justify dropping a few hundred on a used laptop before so I can't see how I'll justify dropping a few hundred on an XP license (but who pays for software, right?).

So true, though some of the more right wing factions may take some time to adjust
